The appearance of the top leaders emphasizes the importance of this fight to both sides. Schumer offered a preview late in the day yesterday on the senate floor. There is no reason our two parties cant Work Together on s1. The legislation has already been updated and improved. It now includes input from Election Officials across the country, including republican Election Officials. Im sure well see additional amendments at the markup. I guess as a preface to the argument here the filibuster is still intact and also you have the question about states rights and whether it could become a court issue, ultimately the u. S. Supreme court and where it could go. How do you see this debate playing out today . Lets begin there. I think this is a single most dangerous piece of legislation before the United States congress. If you look at this radical democratic majority they have really two sets of priorities. One is bad policy. Things like very high taxes, very high regulations, open borders. Pushing that on every front. The second and their broader objective is to rig the system. They have a whole bunch of dramatic reforms designed to stay in power forever. Things like adding the District Of Columbia as a state so they get two more democratic senators. Packing the u. S. Supreme court to add four left wing justices. S1. The number one bill Chuck Schumer has as a priority in the senate. Many are calling it the corrupt politicians act. It federalizes elections and strikes down virtually every Voter Integrity Law that has been adopted at the state level. For example, 29 states require identification to vote. A common sense position that over 70 of americans support. What does the corrupt politicians act do . Repeals every one of those laws and strikes them down. 31 states prohibit Ballot Harvesting. The corrupt practice of paying operatives to collect other peoples votes. The reason it is prohibited in 31 states is because it is repeatedly leant itself to fraud as unscrupulous operatives throw away votes they dont like. What does the act do . Strikes down every one of those and mandates Ballot Harvesting across this country. This bill would automatically registered millions of illegal aliens to vote and millions of felons and criminals to vote and the reason the democrats want to do it is that they believe reasonably, i think, that millions of illegal aliens and millions of Felons Voting are likely to vote democrat and their objective is to rig the game and stay in power for the next 100 years and take the power away from the american voters. Your critics would say many of these states are passing these bills because of false accusations of voter fraud from the 2020 election that are continuing to be perpetuated and the democrats would say we have to do this at the federal level because they have to try to protect the election somehow. You cant remove people from the voter list even if you send even if they havent voted and youve sent them a postcard and the postcard come back saying that person no longer lives at the address. You have to leave them on the rolls. Everybody gets ballot mailed to them. No i. D. No notary, no witnesses. They mail them out and anybody can throw them out and send them back in. It bans outside observers at the polls. The only people to challenge a voter are somebody who shows up at the polls is an election official not a represent irving from the republican or democratic parties. The naacp fought that provision all the way to the Supreme Court in the 1950s. The aclu is even saying this is a problem. You can vote anywhere. You dont have to show up at your precinct. You can show up anywhere in your community or your state and vote. It limits on corporate speech. If you are a company there are severe limits on it. No limits on what unions can do.
