The masked mandate is gone in some places but not in some k12 schools. Utah does not allow districts to decide when masks can go away. When parents at the granite School District Work Meeting were told that period was over but a State Senator was allowed to speak is when the shoelace broke. They dont listen to the parents, they ignore the parents, and when you have something like that occur time and time again, than there becomes a boiling point. In a statement, the district says the Granite District fundamentally believes in a diversity of opinions in a respectful and civil manner and will continue to encourage civil discourse as a model for the children which we have stewardship over. What did you think of what transpired there . To be honest, i never went to that meeting intending for it to become a pressure cooker situation. If so i went just to give utah parents a voice because its been 14 months of this, these mandates in the way our children are being treated in the schools. I was set up, so i went only to have a voice and speak up for my children and im hoping to be able to maybe represent parents across utah and when they did not allow fair representation from utah parents and instead had members from utahs largest Teachers Union and express their thoughts on how our children needed to be needed to continue the masked mandate, i had enough, so i approached the podium and i basically begged them to just listen to us. John they didnt seem interested in it and a chant of no more masks are at advising up among the crowd there. Do you get a sense the School Board does not want to listen to you . When i approached the podium and attempted to address them, they cut my mike. So i was really censored at that point and they do not want parent input. If over the last 14 months, ive seen are parental rights being infringed upon Little By little and we are having no voice to sy what we want, and thats our natural right, our constitutional right, to be able to dictate how our children are educated i very much hold them accountable our governor could end all of this, he could unmask our children and allow them to breathe and at least not make it so horrible these last couple of weeks and he refuses to end the mandate. John he says he will end it come this fall and we will see if he does. You provided us with a picture of your beautiful family, youve got to kids who are in the granite School District. Police are now looking into possible criminal charges against some of the parents who held a Mock Meeting after the board blew out of there. The School Board spokesman comparing the parents actions to the capitol hill riot, with listen to just a little bit of what happened there, take a second here. There was questions being raised as to whether those people what do you think is this idea they are looking at potential criminal charges from that meeting . I think thats laughable and ridiculous and i think it goes right along with what weve seen the last 14 months. Theres a certain agenda to be fulfilled by these elected officials right up to the executive, and it all trickles down for the legislator will blame the health department, it is just this continual passing the buck and so honestly, i was there the entire meeting. When i can tell you that when i walked out of that building, every single policeman that was at the door waved to me and said have a good evening, so i feel this is being completely misrepresented and misconstrued by the granite School District and its frankly very disappointing.
