Homicides and Violent Crime rates continue to rise in major cities nationwide. One former Law Enforcement official calling ate Public Safety it a Public Safety crisis. White house correspondent kevin is taking a closer look at how the Biden Administration has fared so far. Good evening, kevin. Good evening. If you ask the biden white house, they will tell you that the definition of bipartisan is if any republican agrees with what they are doing. Then it bipartisan. They dont have to be an elected office holder. Thats certainly a novel definition to be sure but its one thats yet to hurt mr. Bidens poor support and apparently it hasnt hurt his overall Approval Ratings yet. Well, you know, just a couple of months ago we were hearing from President Biden, the newly inaugurated president bide than he was going to unify the country and we were going to Work Together and have bipartisanship. No, mr. Biden was never going to please everybody. After all, thats the nature of a new administration, especially one which comes in with control of the white house and both chambers of congress. But he did promise to govern in a bipartisan fashion, which to this point, he most certainly has not. Im still waiting, mr. President. I havent seen any of that. What ive seeing so far is bidens way or the highway. The men public wants this president to work with the republicans to find a solution. Were going to hit a hundred days. Ive not met with the president one time nor had one conversation with him. Bidens apparent lurch leftward hasnt hurt his overall Approval Ratings according to the latest Fox News Survey which still shows his support north of 50 . Its still lower than obamas and george w. Bushs at this point but higher than President Trumps, and the progressive wing of his party is quite pleased with the way hes marching to the beat of their drum. President biden has definitely exceeded expectations that progressives had. Ill be frank. I think a lot of us expected a much more conservative administration. But as he nears the hundred day mark in offer, political tremors are building. With americans overwhelmingly rejecting bidens performance on illegal immigration by an 18point margin. More disapprove, 52 than approve. 34 . On border security, just over half disapprove. 51 . Versus 35 approve. This as Vice President Kamala Harris, who continues to avoid going to the border despite being tasked with handling the crisis there, once the u. S. To partner with mexico and Central American partners to slow illegal immigration by, wait for it, planting billions of fruit and timber trees. Now, that proposal, its part of the planning life program. It actually takes place in Southeastern Mexico and throughout central america. There is a goal there, and frankly, its to do a lot. Were talking about planting Three Billion additional trees, and they believe that will actually help to generate about 1. 2 million jobs in the region thus reducing the economic pull that brings so many migrants this way. Furthermore, mexico is proposing that the u. S. Grant sixmonth work visas and that would lead to citizenship that take part in the program. Well see how that all plays out here in the next days and weeks ahead. While were talking about the Vice President i want to get your reaction to this exchange, in todays White House Press briefing. Between jen psaki and our colleague, peter ducey. Do you know why that is and if shes making any money off of that . The president or the Vice President . The president s book. They are talking about if they go to shelters or a welcome kit apparently, there is a copy of her 2019 Childrens Book, super heroes are everywhere. I would have to check on that i hear its a good book so the Vice President s Childrens Book being given to children in these migrant shelters. What do you know about this . Its an interesting setup, you have to ask, who is paying for it and if shes getting paid for it is that coming out of the taxpayer till or is she simply giving away those books. They are available on amazon. You can pick one up for 11. The ultimate goal is if youre suggesting as a policy were simply giving away good books for good kids there is nothing wrong with that but the real question, of course, that is, is she making any money off of this . Jen psaki took light the question from peter ducey will have a different reaction if shes making money off of it. Quite the reaction from jen psaki today. Thanks so much. Youre welcome. Shots ringing out across the big apple this weekend with more than 30 people hurt by gun violence. Just as the nypd faces the Double Jeopardy of a jump in retirements and a dip in recruitment. Correspondent lauren green is taking a look tonight from new york city. Good evening, cities across the country are seeing a blue exodus as thousands of Police Officers fear for their futures. Even after the Murder Conviction of former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin for the killing of george floyd, they are still feeling like enemy number one. With no unrest. People are throwing bottles at them, shooting fireworks at them, shooting guns at them. Between the pandemic and high police hostility calls to Defund Police and the perceived lack of support from City Officials officers are leaving in droves. And new york city, more than 5,300 Police Officers either retired or put in their papers to leave. Overall, there is a third of officers leaving americas largest cities. I think they feel like they are under fire. They feel like their livelihood is compromised. Their job security is compromised. They feel like they are going to get sued when they do their job lawfully. But as the numbers of officers go down crime does not. Over the weekend 31 people were shot in new york city. One of them reportedly a retired Police Officer. According to louisville, Kentucky Police stats, another city thats seen a dramatic increase in police leaving the force, there has been a rise in crimes. It comes amid a new fox poll that finds a majority of registered voters are against defunding the police and directing money elsewhere by a 12 margin. 62 to 33 . We are nypd officers. Join us. Amid police departure, the police apple is trying hard to replace them they have had to extend the deadline for the new Recruiting Exam and of this made the application free but the numbers are still low. Meanwhile the Biden Administration is adding to Police Discontent by launching another probe into police practices. This time, in louisville, kentucky. Thank you, lauren. Protestors in elizabeth city, North Carolina, after the family of andrew brown views 20 seconds of Police Body Cam footage of his death and calls it an execution. Officials have scheduled a hearing regarding the public release of the incidents on wednesday morning and the context provided by Police Body Cam footage can go a long way in providing the public with the information. We go to former tucson, arizona, Police Officer, and the opinion columnist joe. Joe, youve had a pretty big problem with how the media covered what happened to the girl who was, of course, shot and killed by a Police Officer in ohio. Why . Well, read the headlines, kristin. I see Something Like this from the new york city. A teenage killer was shot in ohio shortly before the jury reached a guilty murder in the murder trial of former Police Officer Derek Chauvin. Ohio Police Fatally shoot black stage girl just before chauvins verdict. You see the implication here that the officer new columbus is just like the officer in minneapolis, Derek Chauvin, who was guilty on all counts. In other words, whats the context . The context in at least columbus is that the girl that was actually shot unfortunately, and it was tragic, dont get me wrong, that she had a knife in her hand and was trying to stab another girl in that situation. Completely different than Derek Chauvin and the Police Officer with george floyd, yet the portrayal is all Police Officers are just like Derek Chauvin, therefore, you know, its not mutually exclusive and thats what we saw in that case so that was my problem there, that that particular instance is therefore portrayed like it was in minneapolis with Derek Chauvin and they are completely two separate incidents altogether, and the fact is, maybe that Police Officer in columbus saved the life of a girl who was about to get stabbed as opposed to Derek Chauvin who was sitting on the neck of george floyd, obviously found guilty on all counts and we dont see that context. You think media needs to do a better job of explaining the different circumstances in all of these officerinvolved shootings. Brandon, let me ask you a question. This one about andrew brown and whats happening right now in North Carolina. The family of andrew brown very upset tonight because they say they have seen 20 seconds of only one officers body cam. They want to see more body cam footage. They want to see dash cam footage. They are also upset that this video has not yet been released to the public. As i said leading into this there is now a hearing to find out if it will be released to the public. Do you think that this video will be released to the public, and it should be . Well, i think at this point the video has to be released to the public. Its already out there. There are rumors circulating and a responsible Police Department needs to get ahead of this before they create chaos that cant be undone. I find it very interesting, and i feel compassion for the family. Ive lost loved ones, not at the hands of police but ive lost loved ones and i know how it feels for someone to die that you love. However, i would like to see the parents and family just as outraged by the fact that this guy is selling dope. I dont see them being upset about his criminal behavior. They only get upset when he passes away. I wish there was a balance so people can see, at least slow down and see that Police Officers are doing their job. The public is doing what they are supposed to do. Waiter for the investigation and then well see what the outcome is but the outrage is just conjured up so people can get paid these funds, you know, almost as an Insurance Policy for bad behavior of family members. Joe, how do you think media is handling whats happening down there in North Carolina right now . Well, in general, what i see overall is that all Police Officers are portrayed as inherently bad people. Look, in every profession, youre going to have your Derek Chauvins of the world. Im not defending him in any capacity. But i see a gallup poll, kristin, and it shows 48 of the American People have confidence in the police. 48 . Thats less than the majority. But you look back. Only four years ago, 57 had confidence in the police. 2004, 64 had confidence in the police. And now were talking about almost a 16point drop from 2004 to now. Are police really doing their jobs any differently than they were 16 years ago or four years ago . No. Its the portrayal that police are inherently bad people and thats just not the case. I had a friend of mine, kristin, that texted me, hes been in the police force for nearly 30 years and he said, you know what, joe, i saw you on fox news and the fact that youre defending us is a very good thing because 99 of us are very good people. 1 are not so good. We get that completely, but please, were here to serve the public and to protect the public, and we shouldnt be portrayed as bad people and thank you for doing what youre doing. Im not trying to like give myself pat on the back but it was nice to get a note like that because that really told me something, that police feel they are being vilified at this point and thats why you see the record retirements in new york city and where else as a result because of the way they are being portrayed by media. Here in washington were dealing with the real potential for Meaningful Police Reform to be passed. They are trying to hash out some sort of bipartisan deal but the issue really seems to be, the biggest Sticking Point is the issue of qualified immunity. Youre a former Police Officer. Where do you come down on this issue . First, when i hear them talking about Police Reform on capitol hill thats a big red flag that pops up. None of those people in my personal opinion, none of those people have adequate experience with Law Enforcement. We need to stop talking about Police Reform and all of these things unless these individuals know what Training Police are actually getting. They dont think Police Officers are getting adequate training, and use of force, defensive tactics, those are things we already train. We dont train people to shoot other individuals in the back. We dont train Police Officers to hide drugs on individuals. So Police Reform of bad Police Officers is a waste of time and effort and energy. I really wish they would talk about something a little more practical. Lets talk about what the public is doing. However, when you speak of qualified immunity, what makes you think that a Police Officer is going to go to work every day acting on behalf of the state and be held responsible personally for things that other individuals are responsible for. The laws that are created, the use of force policy, the force continue, all of those things are deemed by the state. One of the things they are goreiating instead of suing the Police Officer, potential to sue the entire Department Taking some of the load off the officer. Im not sure what they are trying to get at. Every Police Department is paying out these crazy dollar amounts to suspects who are in the wrong and also its always been the case where you could be sued civilly by a family if youre considered to have killed somebody unjustifiably. So they are pushing for more. They are it would never be good enough for these individuals who know nothing about policing. They have never put on a badge. They have never rode in a car. Probably never done a ride along. Probably never a life and death situation. Used force on individuals. These people who are making laws and trying to make changes on local level Police Departments are completely out of line. These changes should be done locally. Each Police Department knows what they need and what they dont need. Capitol hill needs to stay out of it because its all partisan bs, that were going to see me metriculate down. A lot of focus on those departments tonight. Joe and brandon, thanks so much. Thank you. Thank you. First up in tonights real news roundup, the effort to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom is officially under way as the necessary number of 1. 6 million signatures has been verified. Next, the Lieutenant Governor will set a date for a recall election. Governor newsom responding tonight in a tweet saying, this republican recall threatens our values and seeks to undo the important progress that weve made from Fighting Covid to helping struggling families, protecting our environment, and passing common sense gun violence solutions. There is too much at stake. New york governor cuomo, meanwhile, holding his first open Press Conference in months today and he did not hold back when pressed about his many accusers. And nascar is looking into measures that can be taken immediately to keep cars from getting airborne after joe logano crashed at the talladega super speedway. While applauding the measures that kept him safe logano expressed frustration with what led to getting in the air. That was quite the wild ride and were glad hes okay. Dad, coach, let me do all of those things. Kristin an Arson Investigation is under way in north texas after someone set a Little League teams van on fire. Who would do that . After stealing their baseball equipment, leaving joe and his team wondering why someone would do this. Hes now working on saving up to get a new van for the kids. And hes got four super bowl rings. Now add to gronkowskis resume, he caught a football dropped from a helicopter hovering 600 feet in the air, breaking the record for highest altuve catch. Pretty impressive but i dont think it tops the feeling of winning a super bowl. And what started as an early pandemic joe evolved into a full fledged spectacle. Hundreds of people named josh flocked to a park in nebraska to engage in an intense pool noodle brawl. Over there, a shared name. The winner, 4yearold Joshua Vincent jr. Who was honored with a paper crown and hoisted it in the air for all of the joshes to see. I clearly missed that pandemic tip. Frustration is building among some of the nations governors over the absence of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris from their Weekly Conference calls coordinating federal and state responses to the coronavirus pandemic. Chief breaking news correspondent Trace Gallagher is on the case tonight. The way this works is every tuesday at 11 00 a. M. Eastern all 50 governors call into the weekly covid conference call. The goal is to update governors on the current federal and state response and then coordinate the future response. The Trump Administration did 40 calls and Vice President mike pence was on 39. Trump was on reportedly eight or nine of the calls. Biden has been on zero. Vice president harris, one call, and she did not take questions. So who leads the call . The chairman of the National Governors association, andrew cuomo. The Biden Administration says Vice President harris has other responsibilities like leading the response to the crisis on the u. S. Border which she has not yet visited. Governors who spoke to real clear politics are frustrated by the administrations lack of guidance. We should note dr. Anthony fauci is on the call but hes under fire again for changing his position again. After spending months telling americans to wear a mask outdoors, this weekend, fauci said this. I think its pretty common sense now that outdoris out door risk is quite low. Wearing a mask outdoors, obviously the rest sac minuscule. A doctor tweeted quoting, dr. Fauci told americans to use common sense regarding face masks. Yet hes done anything but the last six months. Common sense regarding face masks and post vaccine liberation is now backed by science. Its fauci and the cdc who need to catch up with their recommendations, and it appears that the Biden Administration is set to relax outdoor Mask Guidelines as early as tomorrow. Especially for fully vaccinated people. In the meantime there is also a new study that directly challenges accepted social distancing guidelines. Researchers at mit now say that indoors, youre no safer at six feet than you are at 60 feet. And that the six foot rule might give you a false sense of security. The study says the amount of time you spend indoors with an infected person is much more important than the distance you are from that infected person. Kristin . Kristin thank you, trace. John kerry, the upper the former Secretary Of State is under fire for divulging information about israel to iran. Thats next. Theres more to a yard than freshly cut grass. Which is exactly why we built these mowers, to clear the way for stuff like this, right here. Run with us, because the best yards are planted with real memories. Search john deere mowers for more. Nope nope cmon him . Oo, i like him nooooo. Noooo. Quick, the quicker picker upper bounty picks up messes quicker and each sheet is 2x more absorbent , so you can use less. Hes an eight hes a nine bounty, the quicker picker upper. Does the president have any comments or reaction to kerry telling the iranians about Covert Military action on the part of israel . Were not going to comment on leaked tapes. You go back and look at Press Reporting from the time this was certainly not secret and governments that were involved were speaking to this publicly on the record. Kristin John Kerry Facing A Potential Firestorm Tonight following a leaked admission by iran Foreign Minister that the former Secretary Of State informed him of israeli attacks on iranian interests in syria. Kerry denying it all tweeting, i can tell you that these allegations are unequivocally false. This never happened either when i was Secretary Of State or sense. Lets discuss this. So guys, i want to start by popping up on your screen exactly what the Iranian Foreign minister is quoted as saying. I just want to reiterate. This is coming from a leaked audiotape that was leaked to a british paper. Fox doesnt have it. We havent confirmed it but lets just take it for what it is, and take it from there. So he says, the quote was former u. S. Secretary john kerry told him that israel had launched more than 200 attacks on Iranian Forces in syria. Steve, if true, how much trouble should john kerry be in . There are two questions. How much trouble should he be in and how much trouble is he in . On the first, he should be in a huge amount of trouble because its truly disgusting that it appears hes taken the side of a terrorist theocracy, an enemy, over israel, one of our closest allies. Its not the first time, by the way. This is something weve seen him do time and again. Hes desperate to revive the deal that he was involved in negotiating. This fits with previous behavior. The problem is, however, that i dont think actually these days, in the modern democratic party, hell get in much trouble over this because truthfully, this attitude, this mindset of certainly siding if not directly with iran, certainly the hatred for israel thats there, in the modern left in this country, means that this kind of fits with how his party thinks, and so i think hell be fine with this. Kristin since you bring up some of kerrys past statements in terms of how hes treated his interactions with word leaders since leaving, you know, his time in the obama administration, i want to pop up this clip from john kerry on bill mars show back in 2018. Watch this and ill get your take on the other side. Youre out of office and you met with the iranian talked to the iranian i did. Absolutely. Everybody does. Henry kissinger for 40 years has been traveling to russia, china, and talking to leaders. There is absolutely nothing unusual about it. Kristin so in the context of what we know now what do you make of that . It fits a pattern with john kerry. Go back to his debut in public life in the united states, while he was still in the u. S. Naval reserve in 1970, went to paris and had meetings with the North Vietnamese who we were engaged against in a war at that time. Fast forward to when he was chairman of the Senate Foreign relations committee, he went and had a very pleasurable dinner with asad, the dictator of syria, before the open warfare there but a lot of bad guys. There is a history of john kerry thinking that he can use the john kerry charm on dictators and outright enemies of the united states, and, you know, what are the results of that . Its pretty appalling. John kerry, i have to say, on the trump transition, he was still Secretary Of State. He was traveling until the very last day, presumably trying to undermine the Foreign Policy of the incoming administration. We treated him extremely cautiously. He wanted meetings, Public Meetings with rex tillerson, nominee for Secretary Of State. We said politely no thanks to that. So this is someone who just has a real problem with enemy identification. Kristin a lot of republicans are calling for his resignation. Hes denying it so well see where this story takes. Meanwhile, its also a big week for president joe biden. Hell be hitting his hundred day mark. Hes got his first address to giant session of congress on wednesday and weve got brandnew fox news polls to commemorate the occasion. Lets pop this first one up showing bidens Job Performance Approval Ratings. Hes got a 54 approve rating. 43 disapprove of the job that hes done. And so how does this compare . If we take a look at that little reminder, you can see that both president s bush and obama were doing a bit better at 63 and 62 . President biden at 54. President trump at 45. So, i guess my question is, steve, you know, when you look at where he stands in the history of where he stacks up among his recent predecessors, is that enough for President Biden to make the case that hes been making, which is that he has broad bipartisan support for a lot of these Spending Bills that hes trying to push through even if he doesnt have republican support on capitol hill, congressional support . Thats the distinction they are making. Is that enough based on the Approval Ratings that you just saw there . No. Because, if you go back before these polls, and just look at the mandate that they have, Election Results in 2020, it was very closely divided. The president ial race in the end decided by 20,000 or 30,000 votes in the electoral college. 5050, house, the margin reduced to just a tiny number, not giving nancy pelosi much room to maneuver, right around the country republicans doing well in governors races and statehouse. An evenly divided country. If america wanted to give joe biden power to push through a Bernie Sanderselizabeth Warren agenda, that would have happened. It didnt happen. Hes not no mandate for this. The fact that hes got relatively high approval numbers, not historically but certainly compared to a couple of previous president s, what does that reflect . Not the popularity of the agenda. It reflects the biggest accomplishment of his predecessor, President Trump in getting those vaccines that everyone said would take five years, done within a year, which means, that the economy is opening up, jobs are coming back, people are feeling that sense of getting past the pandemic. Thats all thanks to President Trump. Its not because of bidens agenda. Kristin question, do you think that President Biden has a mandate to pass the kinds of Spending Bills that hes trying to get through congress right now . Nothing of the degree thats on offer. When the American People look at that, and they realize that the deficit is just completely out of control and thats on top of just massive Dollar Printing by the Federal Reserve and people are scratching their heads and saying, is this going to lead to inflation . Consumer prices, certainly there is a bubble in housing and stock market. They will set the bar extremely high with this amount of Government Spending so that come late 2022 or 2023, youre going to be back to obamabiden stagnation where the economy is not looking good going into whoever is going to be running for president , whether its joe biden or Kamala Harris. Also just picking up on what steve said, President Biden has no mandate and his legislative agenda is dead. Yes, he can raise taxes and spend money with just 50 democrats plus one vote, Vice President in the senate but anything beyond that extremely unlikely, and you just have kristin dont tell him its dead. He certainly thinks hes got Fighting Chance on a lot of these big Spending Bills and hes going to make his case for it on wednesday night in this big joint address to Congress Although it will feel quite different with not nearly as many members of Congress Allowed in there as usual. Guys, thanks so much. Were going to have tons to talk about on wednesday night after that speech. Thanks. Thank you. So a new lawsuit against claims its treadmill is dangerous for children and pets. Peloton, the At Home Fitness Bike thats sky rocketed during the pandemic is now facing a classaction lawsuit tonight. The suit claims that the companys warnings for its treadmill, not the bike, do not convey potentially deadly risks to children and animals. Despite new warnings from the Consumer Products Safety Commission. Peloton says it has no intention to recall its tread plus and insists that its safe as long as all Safety Instructions are properly followed. So lets examine the facts of this case with an attorney, Criminal Defense Attorney brian clay pool. All right. Guys, this is a product thats become so popular during the pandemic, a lot of folks have one of these, either the bike or the treadmill in their house. For this case were just talking about the treadmill and the concern here is that it is dangerous to little kids and sometimes pets. So ethan, ill start with you and well pop up exhibit a. This is what the Consumer Products Safety Commission is so worried about. They say that cpsc staff beliefs the Peloton Treadmill poses serious risks in light of multiple reports of children becoming entrapped, pinned and pooled under the rear roller of the product. It urges people with children at home to stop using the product immediately. Ethan, make your case. Yes. This is one of those terrible examples where a Company Released a product. Maybe they should have stuck with their bike. And here they didnt implement proper Safety Protocols unlike their competitors. So there is an exposed underside where kids and pets get trapped. There is a video link from the cpsc website that makes it overwhelmingly apparent, and that they are marketing their marketing is misleading moms at home to work out with their kids around, and its extremely dangerous. We have laws against this very clear. Kristin i hate to interrupt you but since you bring that up real quickly if we could just pop up exhibit c because we actually have part of the Advertising Campaign that peloton has put out for the product. Like right there. You can see there is a little kid exercising next to i guess, what supposed to be her mom standing next to the treadmill. Sorry, i didnt mean to interrupt you but i wanted to pop that up while we had a chance. Thats i. Its a perfect example so if youre going to advertise in a way, and the product isnt safe for you to use in the manner its advertised that violates numerous california statutes, and thats what the court is going to hear and the preponderance of the evidence in a civil case like this will be clear and convincing, in my mind, just based on the face of the facts of what the Consumer Products Safety Commission has already shown us. Kristin all right. So brian, peloton says that they have done nothing wrong. They are not planning on pulling this product from the market. Here is the official statement from peloton. Lets Pop Up Exhibit B here. They say there is no reason to stop using the tread plus as long as all warnings and Safety Instructions are followed. Children under 16 should never use the tread plus and you should keep children and pets away from the tread plus at all times. This lawsuit is all about one thing. Common sense. Peloton did put a warning out on the treadmill saying keep children away from the treadmill. Keep your pets away from the treadmill. Dont allow anybody under 16 to use the treadmill. There is a key that goes into the treadmill. Hide that key after you use it. The Common Thread and even in that picture you showed is that when these deaths and injuries occur when the bike is being used that picture you showed, bike wasnt being used but really the issue here, kristin is what is the cause of the injury and death . In my opinion, i think the jury will find that a reasonable consumer would look at the existing warning, if they follow that warning, thats what peloton is arguing, then a child is not killed, you keep your children away from the equipment, you dont allow your pets in the equipment, the remedy here isnt lets remove all pelotons from households. Thats ridiculous. Kristin all right. Ethan, i see you shaking your head. Do you want to respond here .
