When officers arrived about 10 minutes later, Body Camera Video showed the officer walking up to some sort of a commotion in a driveway when a girl hot family has identified as 16yearold Makai Bryant pushes another girl to the ground and then with a knife in her right hand she goes after a second girl, pushes her against the side of a car and raising the knife in the air when the officer fires several shots. That officer is now on administrative duty while the Ohio Bureau of criminal investigation looks into the shooting. The mayor of columbus is asking folks to be patient while that investigation plays out. Bottom line, did Makai Bryant need to die yesterday . How did we get here . This is a failure on part of our community. Some are guilty but all of us are responsible. Despite the Body Camera Video thats been release in the ongoing investigation, today the White House suggested systemic racism is to blame for the teens death. The killing of 16yearold makai La Bryant by the Columbus Police is tragic. We know Police Violence disproportionately impacts black and latino communities black women and girls like black men and boys experience higher rates of Police Violence. Other public figures such as israeli jarrett are targeting the officer involved as well with the former Obama Adviser tweeting Makhia Bryant was killed because a Police Officer immediately decided to shoot her multiple times in order to break up a knife fight. Demand accountability. And lebron james, an ohio native tweeted and then deleted a picture of the officer with the words you are next, accountability.
