>> john: at this is today's "new york post" cover after his apology over the weekend and he said he was sorry if any of his jokes were misinterpreted. >> sandra: a brian yoon a slide from brooklyn with the very latest on what we are learning. >> he authorized the letitia james to launch an independent investigation into his conduct. but that was only after cuomo tried to control who would investigate him. he first recommended that a federal judge with close ties to his closest advisors would do the investigation, and then he recommended a joint investigation by the attorney general and a chief judge who cuomo himself appointed. he relented only after the ag james publicly demanded she run the show. his former eta, 25-year-old charlotte bennett said cuomo made inappropriate remarks which made her feel horribly uncomfortable. cuomo issued a lengthy apology which said in part, i acknowledge some of the things i have set have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation to the extent any one felt that way i am truly sorry about that. here's what new york marit bill de blasio said earlier today. >> that's not an apology. he seemed to be saying, i was just kidding around. sexual harassment is not funny, it's serious and has to be taken seriously and he was clearly letting himself off the hook. >> cuomo has not held an on camera covid-19 briefing in a week. >> sandra: and brian yannis reporting on that for us. john, as we have been reporting all last week and throughout the weekend they are growing bipartisan calls for him to be investigated. >> john: there are and we will talk more about this later on this hour. mike lawler is a republican but the cuomo is getting it as much from the democrat side as he is from the republican side as well. the snowball is rolling downhill and gathering not only speed but a lot more mass to it as well so we will see all where all of this ends. the white house continuing to defend using migrant facilities to temporarily hold children crossing goat order. president biden is set to meet virtually to address the increase in migrants crossing the border of the past few weeks. white house correspondent kristin fisher asked the homeland security secretary about the situation a short time ago. >> do you believe right now there's a crisis of the border? >> the answer is no. i think there's a challenge of the border that we are managing and we have our resources dedicated to managing it. >> john: we have team coverage for you and laura logan with an inside look at what's happening at the border. but first peter doocy outside of the white house for us. >> john, and with the statement from -- separated at the port of the choice to either reunite inside the united states or reunite outside of the united states. and he had a mess and. >> we are not saying, don't come. we are saying don't come now. >> the biden administration is opening up another dhs facility to process children who show up on a company to and another hhs facility to house them while they await placement in the states. as president biden signals undocumented citizens should not sweat getting the covid-19 vaccine. >> i want to make sure they are all able to get vaccinated so they are protected from covid without ice or anyone else interfering. they should not show up to not be arrested, they are showing up for being able to get a vaccination. >> president biden just got back from a weekend away in wilmington and there is a reuters report that president over door was going to ask president biden to share with mexico some of the u.s. covid-19 vaccine supply, but jens lockey was just asked about whether or not that is a possibility at the podium and she said no. >> john: and that's a big change from the trump administration, no question. they are not saying don't come, they are saying don't come now. president trump said it don't come come apply for asylum in york country. more from chad wolf at the top of the next hour. thanks so much. >> sandra: joining us now as vaccination host laura logan. welcome and great to have you here this afternoon. >> thank you, sandra. >> as far as we just heard and that briefing room at the white house where secretary maureen arcus was pressed on this by kristin fisher, she went on to press him with how or what we sing at the border not a crisis? >> your predecessors said a thousand illegal border crossings that they constitute a crisis and overwhelms the system. we are 23 and 24,000 now according to cdp officials so how is this not a crisis? >> i have explained that quite clearly. we are challenged at the border, and the men and women of our organization are meeting that need. >> the reason you are not sing a challenge is twofold. one is because the big caravan heading toward the united states that you see further away, once they get from guatemala into mexico they've been broken up into groups of around six or 8-10 by the smugglers and effectively by the cartels who have taken over most of the smuggling now. they are being moved around the checkpoints so they are coming around smaller groups. unless you are right there at the border where there have been some large group of 100 or 200, you really aren't capturing these images. second, the impacts so importantly, the biden administration has given strict instructions to the border agencies to move people through as quickly as possible. on the one hand that's a really facilities are not built to house women and children and so on. on the other hand you are letting in a whole lot of people who you have absolutely no idea who they really are. they are taking their biometrics and their fingerprints but they aren't holding them long enough to interview them or to find out if a child is really there is or if they are being traffic or smuggled or anything like that. when you come from countries with which the u.s. has no relationships like for example communist china, you have no idea who the people are that you are releasing and many of them if they come from central america or south america get a one-page form and they are released on their own recognizance which means, that's it. they are gone. so they are moving too fast for the system for you to be able to see the scale of the crisis and that is the reality. >> sandra: and that's what you are describing to that invisible crisis. but we have images on the screen come up with those continued images that we see of children down at the border and those containers that were often hearing the white house is pressed on. jen psaki was asked about this over the weekend on fox news sunday. really digging into how the biden administration is handling these administrations at the border. and here is how jen psaki described it. >> we think the most humane step we can take us have these children unaccompanied and kids over 18 not send them back. that's one that we felt was the right one, and it was the main one. >> soul laura, what is the difference? >> the biden administration policies are encouraging more and more people to come. so when you look at this in terms of what the facilities are and how the individual families are affected, you have to be human. if you are human then your heart breaks for people. the problem is there isn't really any difference whether you house them in the facility is that and obama built that trump then used, or you put them in these containers, it doesn't make any difference. if you have the same instances of children separated and children who have suffered trauma, the more children are going to be in that position. some people don't have a choice and some people it's the only thing that they can do. what we are not talking about when we focus on this conversation is the fact that there have been threats around the border patrol agents and the there are some wearing bulletproof vests and carrying assault rifles because they have had cartel ambushed teams that move into position with neighbors ready to attack them. they are not the only ones. if you look all over tiktok, they are posting videos and laughing in the face of the united states and u.s. security agencies. border patrol agents feel like they have been handcuffed because these are most of the people that they pick up. if they have a previous record just on immigration violations, those are ignored. they are still released into the country with a notice to appear and they say that they have absolutely no idea who they are letting into the country. so there is a security crisis at the border, not just the humanitarian one and we are not talking about it. >> sandra: still so much more to get to with you. laura logan, you have a special on fox nation and we can put that up on the screen for everyone. laura logan has no agenda, returned to the border. laura, i appreciate you coming on with us. john, very important story. so many angles of that story to be covered and you saw jen psaki pressed on over the weekend by chris wallace, secretary mayorkas taking questions from kristin fisher in the brief room and a lot of questions on how they are handling this crisis of the border. >> john: we will take this all up with homeland security secretary chao dwarf coming up at the next of our. the biden administration will open up another ten to shelter for migrants coming across the border in the del rio section of the border. where the number of unaccompanied children coming across the border has increased 122% in recent weeks. >> sandra: is almost out of control. >> john: developing now, some crime victims and former law enforcement officials launching a recall effort george gascon, less than three months into his term. they say his agenda favors the rights of criminals over victims. meanwhile the campaign to recall california governor gavin newsom gathering enough signatures to potentially trigger a recall election. organizers say he will be forced to run again this fall. both coasts, democratic governors taking it on the chin. >> sandra: yeah. and as far as the update with governor gavin newsom, reportedly striking a deal to reopen schools to younger students by the end of the month and meanwhile some san francisco bay area parents are expressing frustration after video showed the president of a teachers union dropping off his daughter for in person learning at a private preschool. he has been defending public school closure is saying it's not safe to reopen and obviously that's been highlighted as a major half hypocrisy point. william, what our parents saying about this? >> it's a double standard they say, clearly a case of i hypocrisy. this man sends his child to a private preschool because he can afford it but this is a contentious issue. particularly as the teachers unions are using it as a bargaining chip. watch what happens as parents hold a rally to reopen schools. >> we do love our teachers. >> no you don't. you don't love your teachers. i'm happy to talk to you about this. >> this is just a across the bay from san francisco where many reporters are -- matt meyer dropping his daughter off or in person learning at a private preschool while insisting it's not safe to put kids in public schools unless all teachers are vaccinated. >> vaccines offer the most protection possible. especially vaccines plus all of the mitigation factors. >> he actually feels this protection is not necessary for teachers are all students and the videos are an invasion of privacy and said you can't compare public to private schools. the earliest kids that will go back to school in berkeley's may or rather march 29th. statewide april 1st. >> sandra: william la jeunesse on this story. absolutely everyone is affected by the school closure is at some point and to see those double standards play out, as painful for those who quite frankly many don't even have their schools kk in school. when you are defending schools being closed and taking her own child to a private institution and you are saying private institutions are different in public schools. they have a lot of explaining to do. the united states starting a distribution of a third coded vaccine today is johnson & johnson's ships out at single-dose shots. what this could mean in the race to vaccinate and the push to get things back to normal. >> sandra: more on the scandal as a former aide makes accusations against the governor. we will talk to the governor about the push to roll back some of governor cuomo's emergency power. >> officials know that there is a double standard but you know what? they can't deny it for much longer. he has to go. out here, you're a landowner, a gardener, a landscaper and a hunter. that's why you need versatile, durable kubota equipment. did you know you can go to libertymutual.com to customizes your car insurance so you only pay for what you need? it depends on who you ask. manufacturing came in this morning showing a big expansion and more than experts thought. that means they were building stuff, replacing stuff we are all buying. they said there's pent up consumer demand there but the administration wants to act quickly for a covert relief package for a different reason. listen. >> one reason i think joe biden thinks there's no time to waste is democrats can see cases have plummeted since early january. they can see we have three effective vaccines and vaccination rates are surging so they are worried they don't have the coronavirus as an excuse to pay off all of their clients and patrons in a $1.9 trillion blowout bill. >> if democrats are blowing off the more than $1 trillion not covert related and the cdc is giving covered today. listen. >> now is not the time to relax the critical safeguards that we know can stop the spread of covid-19 in our community. not when we are so close. we have the ability to stop a potential surge of cases in this country. please stay strong in your conviction. >> 2.4 million doses of the vaccine being given per day right now. that will be 3 trillion by april. >> sandra: edward lawrence on that story for us. it seems like every little bit john gives us more hope. admiral gerard was on fox news earlier today sort of backing up what we heard from dr. my carry and almost being rid of this virus by late spring. it seems like it could be a reality. >> john: it's a heady thought. there's also some discussion, but you should get the pfizer vaccine or the maturing of vaccine, we will talk with dr. marc siegel about that. a second former aide accuses new york governor cuomo of sexual harassment. new york city mayor bob de blasio causing for him to lose the emergency powers that were granted to them during the pandemic and that something state lawmakers from both parties have suggested as a result of this and the nursing home scandal as well. governor cuomo released a statement yesterday in which he offered an apology, saying i never intended to offend anyone or cause harm. their relationships, or about getting married or not getting married and i now understand my interactions may have been insensitive. to the extent and what felt like that i am truly sorry about that. what do you think assemblyman waller about that apology. >> good afternoon. and thanks for having me. i think it's a bunch of hogwash and this governor and these allegations with what it reveals is predatory behavior. the allegations by lindsay boylan and charlotte bennett show a governor who preyed upon women, female staffers in his office and had staff that was complicit in helping him do so. i think what's clear is not only should the governor resigned and should resign immediately but there needs to be a full investigation into these allegations and that's why i have introduced legislation today mandating and expanding the powers of the attorney general to ensure that any allegation of sexual harassment or assault is investigated by the attorney general office with the appointment of the special prosecutor so that we ensure fairness, equality, due process and that these allegations have the ability to be independently reviewed. the governor should never, ever have the ability to appoint his own investigator as he tried to do and was rightly pushed back on by nearly every member of the legislature and beyond. i think what it also shows john is, i've been calling on for weeks now, the need to reign in this governor's emergency executive powers and revoke them immediately. today we will be pushing once again to do so and i hope my colleagues in the majority will in fact do so today. >> john: in terms of the statement of apology that was issued by the governor today you are not alone in your description of it being hogwash. listen to what the mayor of new york city bill de blasio set about it earlier today. >> that's not an apology. he seemed to be saying, i was just kidding around. while sexual harassment isn't funny. it's serious and has to be taken seriously and he clearly was letting himself off the hook. >> john: of course here you are innocent until proven proven guilty, they would expire anyway at the end of april. if it is found that the governor did sexually harass one or more of these women then what should happen then? >> i never thought i would say this but i agree with mayor bill de blasio and the reality here is this. they reveal a predatory behavior and complicity of staff and you couple it with the nursing home debacle where 15,000 nursing home residents died in part because of his administration's decision to send covid positive patients into those nursing homes and then cover it up in a coordinated criminal conspiracy to obstruct justice. i think it's clear that this governor is no longer able to govern and he should immediately resign from office and if he is unwilling to do so the legislature should move to impeach him. that obviously goes on and that is why together he must resign immediately and if he chooses not to, the legislature must impeach him. >> john: assembly mayan mike lawler, good to talk to you today. sandra, it's not just republicans in the state of new york who are saying this and saying it's something that needs to happen, it's also democrats, to the far left, progressives who it looks like at this point are using it to at the very least keep governor cuomo from running from an unprecedented fourth term. >> sandra: and "the new york post" cover this morning, hey. i'm a funny guy. is he kidding?
