this is not it it. doesn't go nearly as far as far as border security measures and enforcement that we need. so i'm a little disappointed in the biden administration of putting basically a wish list together of those on the far left and submitting this as a bill. steve: sure, we have heard for years that the administration, the trump administration tried to do something about the dreamers after the obama administration essentially created that program by executive fiat. going forward though, a lot of people on the political right are saying when you look at this new bill, it's just amnesty, regardless of what they call it, it's amnesty. >> well, that's absolutely correct. i mean, what you are saying -- what they are saying that 11 probably much larger than that 11 million individuals here illegally. individuals that broke the law to come here to the country are now given a pathway to citizenship and given status. so i think for the millions of americans that fault law every day, the millions of immigrants who follow the process to become citizens and it's a lengthy process, just this flies in the face of that. and it sends absolutely the wrong message. and what we know from previous amnesty attempts is that if you do this, this is an extremely incentive for future populations to come to the u.s. hoping that they, too. will get amnesty in the future. steve: as we mentioned at the beginning, the remain in mexico policy ends today. i know you were a big proponent of that and happy we were doing that. but there are a number of different things that the border patrol is doing right now after a period of time and processing, they are releasing people from these border facilities into nearby towns. one of them is del rio, texas, and the mayor, bruno lozono put a halt to any measures regarding the release of immigrants awaiting court dates into the city of del rio and surrounding areas. we do not have the resources available to house and accommodate these migrants within our community. i will have no choice but to use the extremity measure under the emergency declaration as the mayor of the city of del rio texas to refuse the it will migrants entering the city of del rio. if you do send these individuals into our community. we will be forced to make a decision to leave them without resources under these dire circumstances. >> speaking of resources, we all know from the headlines, chad, that they got no electricity in a lot of texas. and they got boil water problems. they are running out of food and things like that. so the mayor is saying we can't deal with the people who actually live here legally and all these -- this influx of people who are now non-citizens trying to get in the united states. >> yeah. it's really quite remarkable. it seems as though the biden administration and the officials at dhs and others learned nothing from the crisis we saw in 2019. what the mayor just outlined there we learned from hundreds of border communities in 2019 where we had a massive crisis and influx of individuals. had we put together a patchwork of policies and procedures that reduced that flow significantly and in just a matter of weeks here, since inauguration day, there has been a number of executive orders and policies that have created a border crisis, a humanitarian crisis the mayor outlined there. they have created this out of whole cloth. it didn't need to occur. it was under control. but, again, the number of these policies continue to be very, very concerning and then, of course, the bill, the legislation that we're talking about further identifies folks with amnesty. they reduce penalties for border crossers. they provide attorneys for those coming into the country. so, there is a number speculating while hasn't the white house or joe biden spoken to b.b. netanyahu. now they have. although apparently in that call, iran was not the fact that we were engaged with iran was not necessarily discussed. what do you make of the current state of our relationship with israel with this white house? >> yeah, well, certainly i do think it was a bit of a snub. i think it was deliberate. we can only speculate to that effect. my judgment tells me that this administration did not want to knee jerk themselves into the over the top support of israel and also to prime minister netanyahu that the trump administration had. and, recall, pete, that the obama-by deposit administration had the most strained relationship with israel for years than any president has ever had since the state was giving birth to in 1948. so and i think that whereby den is on, this i don't believe he is going to go back to that strained relationship of obama. but he certainly is not going to be as supportive as president trump was in moving the capital, recognizing the golan heights. what does that mean for the nuclear deal? well, certainly i'm convinced that netanyahu, if he hasn't had a conversation yet with the biden administration. he certainly will have on how strongly he feels about how much the table has changed, pete from, now to when they were negotiating the deal in 201 and 2015. there are crippling sanctions on the iranians that have got them back on their heels. they would have negotiated with the second trump administration to remove those sanctions and they would have had to make some significant concessions or trump would not have approved the deal. second, they have got the wind at their backs. i'm talking about the biden administration. because of the normalization of relationships with israel and the building of a broad coalition. something that would not have happened if trump had not issued the sanctions and pulled out of the deal. that convinced the arabs and the israelis that the administration had their backs. so, they have a strong hand to placement will they play it is really the issue in front of us. pete: general, you used the phrase sort of over the top or knee jerk support for israel. could it also be characterized as necessary to undo what had been undone or undo what had been done under the obama administration and create the kind of effects that it had in the region to marginalize iran which has now boxed the biden administration and probably more than they want to be. >> no. i was just using biden's interpretation of president trump's support. i believe president trump and his administration while they certainly have made mistakes like every administration, one of the strongest things they have done is their middle east policy. to stand up against the iranians, to strengthen the arabs and israeli hand. to say build a coalition that we have never seen, which is a sea change and paradigm shift. it's good news that the biden administration at least now appears to want to support this coalition, the so-called abraham accords. we will see if the actions match the rhetoric. my concern with this administration, pete, they folded with the iranians. six years ago. the same team is back. will they have the tough mindedness to negotiate a much better deal with these iranians who are very tough negotiators? it remains to be seen. whether they are going to have the stiffness in their spine to deal with this issue. pete: you have been a voice of clarity on this from the very beginning. and if it's not pallets of cash. at the very least iranians want the sanctions lifted and they know they have an eager partner on the other side and that's what they are going for. general
