>> well, the governor's own admission. his own staff, his chief of staff acknowledged that for months they hid this information. now, they want you to believe that it was because they feared some federal investigation. it is a lie, harris. they have been lying to new yorkers and americans every day for 12 months. we know this. they directed over 8,000 sick senior citizens into nursing homes across the state of new york. their policy led to 15,000 deaths across the state of new york. those people, those families, they deserve accountability. they deserve an independent investigation. they deserve an apology. instead what the governor continues to do is simply blame others. who wrote the policy? what donors and powerful interests forced the state, this governor, to make such an awful decision? why won't he admit to it? >> that's the key question that you just asked. who wrote the policy? as i said just moments ago, he has blamed everything from the -- if you have a problem call the federal government, god, now it's the staffing at the nursing homes. i want to show this to you. a woman whose mother died from covid-19 in a new york nursing home wrote an op-ed, mark, it accuses governor cuomo of exposing her mom and then trying to cover it up. here is a quote. so let me get this straight. while my mom was alone gasping for air and unable to cry out for her family's assistance, governor cuomo and his team were worried about then president donald trump's tweets? that's a telltale sign of an out of touch, power hungry narcissist unworthy of his office. first your response and i have a follow up. >> she says it better than i could. my father died alone in a hospital, not a nursing home, because of this virus. i know what it's like to feel that kind of pain. and the governor simply looks at new yorkers and says who cares? who cares where they died? and then claims that they've been reporting this data all along. they haven't. i'm on the ground every day. they directed policy based on manipulated data and they knew it. >> first of all i'm very sorry about your father and, you know, as we have gone through covid-19, the journey, the pandemic together as a nation, all eyes originally were on the governor of new york. you ran against him. you know that big personality that is his. people were talking about him all over the country in his daily news conferences. is there now a push to get rid of him? even democrats aren't happy with cuomo. >> it really is on the democrats. first of all, you know, we all had hoped that what he was doing was responsible. we found out it was dishonest. that needs to be investigated. this is new york. dangerous and led to death. and now it's on democrats in new york and washington my congressman said there ought to be an investigation. those words are great but we actually need the investigation. there needs to be an independent investigation initiated by washington, department of justice and i believe certainly there needs to be an investigation in albany. but it is up to the democrats in new york and washington to give meaning to the thousands of lives lost and to hold this administration accountable. it is on them now to insure that the families that grieve aren't grieving for no reason at all and there is true accountability. >> one last word on this. he still has his emergency powers, doesn't he? he can make other decisions like this. they haven't been able to strip him of those emergency powers. >> and they could have and -- we've been calling for that for months. they could have and should have and still now they should convene immediately. strip him of those emergency powers. he has written 250 laws and begin to convene an independent investigation. but again, it is on them. they must act in order to give real meaning to the tremendous loss and damage done. >> let's see what the democrats in new york choose to do with their democrat governor who has so much power still. thank you for being on the program. millions of people are without power after a winter storm slammed the southern united states with snow, ice, record cold temperatures. i checked a little while ago, it was 1 degree. officials are warning that people could be without electricity, heat, light, for days. the storm is blamed for multiple deaths now in road accidents in particular. and it is not over yet. the region is bracing for what they're calling another snap. >> the next few days are going to be very tough. things will likely get worse before they get better. the forecast is also not great. in some ways we're still close to the beginning of the incident. >> that's in houston. dallas is worse in some areas. nothing for 14 to 24 hours for people. casey stiegel is live in dallas. casey. >> harris, millions of texans are getting quite frustrated and furious now. many have been in the dark for more than 24 hours since this whole thing began. that's by the way as the windchills dipped below zero across many parts of the state last night and it has kept a lot of the roads a mess. i can tell you right now more than 4.4 million customers are without electricity across texas. officials say that is a mix of controlled black-outs to ease some of the strain on the grid but also because a lot of the infrastructure is frozen like the wind farms and natural gas generators. now those who do have power are being asked to conserve. many cities looking very different last night. large swaths not lit up hoping to give power back to the system to help those struggling to stay warm inside. >> we started watching the temperature drop in our house. 55, we're at 53 now. we will go sit in the car for a little bit to keep warm. >> the wintery blast is impacting some of louisiana. many of the same areas hit by hurricanes late last year, ice, a very rare thing in that state, causing more than 158,000 power outages while up to 5 inches of snow fell on parts of kentucky. other communities getting a bit more of a freezing rain which glazed roadways making driving conditions extremely treacherous. snowplows have been out in full force and harris, as you alluded to we aren't done just yet. call it a 1-2 punch. more snow and ice is on the way for lots of texas. in fact, tonight the dallas fort worth area alone could pick up another 4 inches of snow tonight and into tomorrow. so we're not climbing out of freezing until at least friday. harris. >> you think about those people who haven't had heat for 24 hours who may not have a gas stove. a lot of people have electric. it is a hot climate. that's how they do because it is so hot in the summer. this is the opposite of the extreme. casey stiegel. thank you very much. as casey just reported millions of americans in the cold and dark. the lack of power is because of green energy policies and the vilification of oil, gas, and coal. the stuff that really keeps you warm. coming up, we're looking out for you. the energy war. we'll focus in. and this. >> the person ultimately responsible for security in the house, that would be nancy pelosi. but instead of getting to the bottom of this massive security failure, well, no, the speaker just rushed through yet another snap impeachment. >> house speaker pelosi, republicans are wanting to know why national guard presence was denied before january 6th. sean duffy is with me next. we made usaa insurance for members like kate. a former army medic, made of the flexibility to handle whatever monday has in store and tackle four things at once. so when her car got hit, she didn't worry. she simply filed a claim on her usaa app and said... i got this. usaa insurance is made the way kate needs it - easy. she can even pick her payment plan so it's easy on her budget and her life. usaa. what you're made of, we're made for. usaa. ♪ ♪ the chevy silverado trail boss. usaa. what you're made of, we're made for. when you have a two-inch lift. when you have goodyear duratrac tires. when you have rancho shocks and an integrated dual exhaust. when you have all that, the last thing you'll need... is a road. the chevy silverado trail boss. ready to off-road, right from the factory. - oh. - what's going on?
