>> thank you for having me on first of all it's absolutely true teachers can go back to school without vaccinations but i been a proponent of getting teachers vaccinated sooner rather than later and putting them near the front of the line at this moment. it will certainly help and build confidence in more than anything else we need to get our schools back open in any way we can do that safely is good. in terms of making schools safer a bunch of us have been talking about since last summer saying all of the things the federal government and the states invested, getting schools open should be near the top of the list and if that means putting in money to upgrade facilities and improved ventilation we should do those things, that's a good thing to do and if it helps kids get back in safely in teachers that is really important. arthel: not to downplay the biden of administration efforts, there has been widespread request for consistent national guidance and president biden biden says he will not interfere with the cdc, does saying teachers can return to the classroom without getting their shots somehow downplay the need for us to get vaccinated? >> i hope not i hope no one takes it that way we all need to get vaccinated as soon as it's our turn but the big question right now when there's more demand than supply is what should we do in terms of prioritizing teachers and obviously we should prioritize high risk people, older people people with comorbidities and i advocated and many people have that the teacher should be a priority as well i think it'll be helpful, then saying is not necessary is consistent with the science and nobody should take that as a teacher should not get vaccinated or any of us should not get vaccinated we also get vaccinated when it's our turn. arthel: i'm totally waiting for my turn i cannot wait for it to happen. cdc director said all americans who want the vaccine will have been vaccinated by the end of summer, where does that put us on should the schedule actually stay in place, where does that put us in terms of a normal existence with the freedom to travel and go out to dinner and go to the movies and concerts?
