news headquarters, i'm mike emanuel. ducklo releasing his own apology around the same time the news from the white house. mar meredith with the details of the press shake-up. mark: white house deputy secretary is embarrassed by his behavior that was first reported and made public that he threatened a reporter of politico that was looking at a story about ducklo's relationship with another female report near dc. ducklo is no stranger to the biden team. he nerved as the national press secretary during the campaign and so there's been a lot of talk about what kind of fallout from this was going to be. he's regularly interacted with reporters so the reports that he would threaten a female reporter caught a lot of people by surprised. on friday ducklo's boss jen psaki said he apologized and would be suspended one week without pay and the white house facing questions whether or not this was a too lenient of a punishment considering the president's first comments on day in office. >> i'm not joking when i say this, if you're ever working with me and i hear you treat another colleague with disrespect, talk down to someone, i promise you i will fire you on the spot. mark: that was on january 20th, we got a statement from the white house last night where they say we are committed to striving every day to meet the standards set by the president in treating others with dig any and respect and civility and the value for others and through our words and our actions. now ducklo released his own statement last night promising to learn from his actions. he also asked people not to judge him forever on the one incident. it's unclear who will replace him in the post. here at the white house quiet, president biden will come back tomorrow. this week a major focus on the pandemic looking not only at the coronavirus relief bill but trying to increase the amount of vaccinations that are happening. the president is going to be going to michigan on thursday to tour a pfizer facility as they try to up the doses that get out there for the public, mike. mike: festive background in the north lawn, happy valentine's day. mark: happy valentine's to you, buddy. mike: live from the north lawn, mark thanks a lot. david spunt joins now with more. david: not only raised tens of millions of dollars but spent tens of millions of dollars to on ads to take then president trump at the time and the group that's taking shots at others is facing backlash not only on its spending but also some troubling allegations of sexual misconduct. mike weaver, has been around for decades in this town, he's been accused by 21 men who told "the new york times" that he sent sexually explicit text messages and in some cases promised jobs and other access in exchange for sex. in one case, a 14--year-old boy was receiving those texts messages. there are reports that weaver is under criminal investigation. "the new york times" report that texting did not lead to physical encounters except in one consensual case. one of the founders to have lincoln ground steve schmidt resigned on friday from the lincoln project board and staying with the organization and stepping down after publicly criticizing another original of the project jennifer horn. she expressed disgust over allegations and others with the lincoln project want to be released from their nondisclosure agreements regarding the john weaver allegations. now i mentioned spending at the top of this report, the group facing questions over money out of $90 million raised around, $24 million went to some strategic communications owned by reed galen, that's a cofounder of the lincoln project. he's listed as a treasurer in fcc documents. $20 million to tusk digital owned by another lincoln project ron steslow. steve responded to some questions about the group's finances friday night with bill mahr. >> out of $87 million that was raised by the lincoln project, about 63 to 66 million of that money went to voter conduct. >> where did the other money go? >> the law requires that you make disclosures, but you don't have to disclose subcontractor payments. mark: in a statement, mike, quoted by the associated press, steve schmidt who you saw right there said he would be happy to open books with the lincoln project and would do so only if president trump's campaign opens up its books, also other political action committees affiliated with the trump campaign. mike. mike: one would think a lot of the donors want him to open books. thanks a lot. with more senior adviser to the 45th president jason miller, welcome. >> good to be with you. mike: what is your assessment of the implosion at the lincoln project? >> karma is a you know what, mike, and what we have seen from the lincoln project is about them making money. this has never been about ideological pursuit or some real deep-seeded hatred against president trump. it's low-life drifters that have been trying to enrich themselves. i think the american people really are now getting a look at what this group has been about and there's no excuse for fully grown man to be texting a 14-year-old boy. that's disgusting and and reprehensible and he has bad stuff coming this way from the criminal justice system. mike: do the founders to have lincoln project have explaining to do on where the money went specifically? jason: i think absolutely. and i think that there could be some investigations that do happen. we have seen a lot of that happen from the criminal reports and i think also for a lot of these lincoln project donors. they should be asking questions about where the money went. they should be asking for refunds quite frankly and for a lot of them, when you take a look at jeffrey, look at other folks, think about this, they were funding someone who was pocketing money -- who was out there texting all these people with inappropriate things and texting with a 14-year-old boy. that was the leadership of the lincoln project. so if you were a donor to this organization and you were funding these people, i think you probably want your money back or you should be doing some kind of public disclaimer saying you want nothing to do with these people ever in the future. mike: to the future of the republican party when your party is not in the white house, there are a range of leaders of the republican party whether they be leaders on capitol hill, governor, former presidents, what's your view of the future of the republican party at this point? jason: well, i think it really -- it still start in the future of the republican party is with president trump and we need to take a look back at the 2020 election and realize that president trump received almost 10 million more votes than any incumbent president in the history, record numbers with african-american voters, latino american voters, asian american voters and if we want to grow the party, too often we look at -- look at this about where we go and grow numbers this way and grow numbers this way. what this is about showing the republican party is about the working people of america. this is how we go and make this a more inclusive effort of bringing more people in. i think president trump did that despite the media -- the mainstream media constantly attacking him and trying to paint him as some sort of caricature that he's not. this is our opportunity to build from here and i wished that some of the leaders on capitol hill would realize that, stay with president trump and working on this and you know what, let's go win the house back for republicans in 2022. let's win the senate back in 2022. this is our time to come together, let the democrats play their divisive games. we are the ones that should be leaders here. mike: looking ahead to the 2022 races how many trump allies do you think winning, i'm thinking laura trump, for example? jason: we have had an initial meeting and talked about some of the key races where we are going to help. certainly a number of allieses will be up in 2022 both in house and senate and we want to make sure that we do that. i don't have any ideas scoop on laura trump in particular but i think she's the immediate front runner, you would think i have the inside scoop, i don't necessarily. a little bit of a dodge there. i hope she runs. i think she would be great and i think she would be a great value to the people of north carolina where she was born and raised. but there's going to be a lot of candidates that president trump is going to be getting behind in. i think some folks might not realize, president trump has $75 million in his save america leadership pac, that money is going to be used to help candidate who is really believe in this america first agenda, who believe on getting us out of the forever wars and making sure that we are setting a tax system that help people and school choice and all the things president trump pushed during 4 years in office. we want to make sure that the effort continues and president trump is going to be the one, look, if we are going to win back the house and the senate, it's going to be because of president trump. mike: well, it was worth a shot asking about laura. jason miller, thank you so much for your time. have a great day. growing calls for new york governor andrew cuomo to resign. i jumped the gun a bit. growing calls for new york andrew cuomo to resign over allegations of hiding the true number of the covid deaths in the nursing homes. alex hogan live in new york city with the latest, hello, alex. alex: i'm outside of new york governor andrew cuomo's city office here today growing calls to step down, even today breaking calling for a special session this week. >> we have a member, mike, that said he was working to bring articles of impeachment to the floor of the assembly. i think, again, that illustrates that there is a lot of anger, there's a lot of concern that there was criminality here and there is a lot of thought that maybe there's enough evidence to bring these articles of impeachment. alex: the death toll of nursing home residents nearly doubling the tragic numbers jumping from 8500 to 15,000 nursing home patients. bipartisan anger after a conversation this week between new york's democratic lawmakers and a top aide to the governor melissa de rosa, de rosa admitted that the cuomo administration had been withholding the true number of deaths. de rosa clarifying that the administration releasing data before lawmakers. as i said on the call with legislators, we could not fulfill requests as quickly as we would like. early in the pandemic many lawmakers looked to cuomo as an example of transparency and daily briefing updates giving consistency in a time of uncertainty. president biden even calling cuomo the gold standard last year. the comments, however, were made days before cuomo's now controversial order to send recovering covid-19 patients back to nursing homes. even more outrage after a report obtained by the ap shows that cuomo's order to release recovering covid patients to nursing home was more than 43% higher than initially reported. and that special session that is being called for some time next week, that's not specifically for impeachment but to remove andrew cuomo of pandemic emergency powers, mike. mike: alex hogan live in new york city. alex, thanks a lot. with us to discuss this and more michigan democrat congresswoman and cochair of policy and communications committee, debbi dingell, welcome. congresswoman: thank you, happy valentine's day, mike. mike: thank you, i'm wondering your thoughts on you hear the latest reporting of nursing home scandal out of new york? congresswoman: i'm deeply concerned. we need to have the facts. this is one of the issues that i've been working on since i came to congress. i miss my husband on valentine's day and -- miss him every day. you have workers that are working in several homes at the same time, they are car years, it's hard to find people. so many don't have advocates. this is just another disturbing development and, you know, i obviously want the facts but it highlights how long-term care is spoken in the country. mike: to reopen the nation's schools, here is the cdc from today. >> i'm a big advocate that the guidance is followed, the teachers are prioritized, but from a scientific standpoint, we know that it's possible to reopen schools safely without all of the teachers being vaccinated. mike: your thoughts on the debate over reopening the nation's schools after hearing that from the cdc director? congresswoman: she also said -- look, the kids desperately want to be back in school with each other. if you heard the whole interview, they talked about the importance of people wearing masks. i have no idea how masks have become so political in this country. but we do know that wearing masks significantly decreases the amount of covid. so wearing masks is also an important part of that and we have to move as quickly as possible and put teachers in there and it is a combination of factors we need as we reopen the schools. mike: if sanitation workers, custodial workers and those who worked at the grocery stores are essential workers, aren't our nation's teachers? congresswoman: i think teachers are essential workers. i have said that and we need to try to get them -- i'm back home trying -- we have a vaccination supply problem. let's not lie to each other. i'm doing the case work myself because people are so upset and there's so many different reasons and i have 75-year-olds that haven't been able to get vaccine yet and teachers are saying, why can't i get mine, we have to increase the supply? the president has fought more -- bought more and more is coming into the system. i'm looking at how we are going to defeat the virus. there's been a supply problem, the supply is increasing and we have to use science to drive, opening the schools, getting the vaccine in arms, defense production act. mike: i'm hearing on republicans on covid relief, a deal to be had, trillion dollar package, bipartisan deal, would it be better to go bipartisan about a trillion dollars or stick to a partisan $1.9 trillion package? congresswoman: you know, i don't want to call this 1.9 partisan because there are republicans who need to do this. if you come to michigan, i will take you places but it's across the country, people need help and they need help in so many different ways. they've needed it for months and years from small businesses and restaurants to the issues that we were just talking about, about increasing the supply of vaccine, getting into arms, to people not being able thrown out of their homes because of rent or mortgage payments, student loans. we -- look, let's just -- the republican chair of the federal reserve need to invest right now. i'm forward and come together and get this done and we will keep working together and we are going to beat covid this year. that's got to be the number 1 issue this year. we cannot build back our economy until covid is under control. mike: congresswoman debbi dingell of the great state of michigan, congresswoman, thank you very much for your in washington. good afternoon, griff. griff: good afternoon, mike, that's right, fox news confirms ice officials in texas nearly released three men convicted of sex offenses against children. they were ultimately not released after discussions between ice and state and local officials but the dangerous situation arose from an apparent misapplication of president biden's january 20th memorandum on immigration rescinding some of the previous administration's practices on deportatitations ad detainers would seek to keep convicted migrants in custody after their sentence and instructs agencies like ice to focus enforcement efforts on 3 main categories of national security, border security and public safety. incites, quote, aggravated felony as part of the threat. aggravated felony is defined in the immigration and nationality act as meaning murder, rape or sexual abuse of a minor. so why were these three men about to be released? well, ice is not providing a detailed explanation but says in a statement that the agency, quote, makes arrests and custody determinations on a case-by-case basis based on the totality of circumstances and does so in compliance with the federal law and agency policy. the situation has texas officials on high alert as ice has dropped detainer requests on 26 individuals in recent weeks. the chief of staff of the texas department of criminal justice told the associated press who first reported this story, quote, our concern is that you have individuals that have offenses in which we believe they would pose a public safety threat and so dropping the detainer in turn is threatening public safety and we express that to immigration officials. now, this comes as the biden administration this coming friday will roll back the trump administration's remain in mexico policy started in 2019. it's known officially as the migrant protection protocols and a required migrant seeking asylum in the u.s. to wait in mexico while the claims same time a year ago. the highest amount since july 2019. tom, how do you assess those numbers? tom: we know -- i wrote an op-ed for fox news 7 months ago if joe biden became president, we would lose the border. 4,000 crossings a day because border patrol isn't adding the got aways, there's a way to count footprints in the sand and you times that by a month, that's 120,000 a month which is 1.4 million a year and that's what title 42 is still in place for single adults. once mexico stops title 42 the numbers will be astronomical and we knew that would happen because all the promises joe biden has made and continues to make. so this isn't by accident. this is by design. this is an open-order strategy, he has vowed to the benefit and we lose the border. mike: let's put on the screen from the ice acting director memo, generally these convictions would not include dug-base crimes, less serious offenses, dui, money laundering, property crimes, fraud, tax crimes, solicitation or charges without convictions, tom, how do you respond? tom: ice has lost 95% of criminal targets they arrest every year, 95% of them are off the table. now the biden administration said public safety is still important. well, obviously not because dui is a public safety issue, over 10,000 people die over duis, if joe biden ever sat and talk ed toan angel mom or angel dad,y lost their children. he says sex offenders are a priority but he hasn't done a thing about sanctuary cities, sanctuary like new york, boston, i can go on and on, seattle, they will not honor ice detainers whether they are sexual predators or not. it's disingenuous to say sex offenders are aty. we will not let the big cities change the way they conduct business with ice and how they conduct with business with ice, they don't accept detainers. is disingenuous. >> of course, they are not being screened for covid at the southern border because this is all political. he's opening the border, he's letting illegals pour in, they are not doing any covid tests, they are just coming into the communities. mike: what about the border issue as it relates to this pandemic we are still dealing with? tom: well, great quote, exactly right. thousands of family units have been released in the united states over the past few weeks. no covid test and to me the american community with no covid tests and on top of that, as soon as they get to the destination they qualify for a work visa. they'll be competing if the same jobs that unemployed americans are competing for. unemployment rates at extreme high. the biden administration should be concerned about covid, federal mandates on masks and we shut down schools at the same time thousands have come across the border with no covid tests, no masks being released in the u.s. to compete for the same u.s. jobs that many of our middle-class workers are going to be competing for. it's a switch on the american people. they don't care about employment of americans,
