The suspect is black and as a result activists are going after the cops saying that they are murdering yet another black man in seattle and that they are serving as judge, jury and executioner. Obviously things are getting a lot more tense in this region as they have over the course of the last several months. Shannon and i find it interesting that the Seattle Times tweeted when it is calling a correction. We original used officerinvolved shooting when it wasnt clear what happened. An officer was involved. As we learned more we updated the story and the story says seattle Police Officers shot and killed a person. That leaves out a lot of the story. Others in the area are doing the same. Some of them actually know exactly what happened and ignoring the details. They seem to think that police do not have the right to defend themselves, each other and the community. They are taking the position many online, including lawyers who are part of the Activist Community saying the officers should have deescalated the situation, presumably in an active shooting situation as they had bullets being fired at them. That, of course, is not a reasonable position. No reasonable person could ever take that kind of tactic. I dont know exactly what they expect officers to do.
