The Senate Voting 5644 saying the trial is constitutional. In that vote, six gop senators joined democrats crossing the aisle, collins, cassidy, murkowski, romney, sasse and toomey. The vote was expected. Cassidy was a bit of a surprise. The trial opened with a graphic 13 minute recap of the attack on the capitol as the lead house manager, jamie raskin, delivered a very emotional argument. Listen. Senators, this cannot be our future. We cannot have president s inciting and mobilizing mob violence against our government. The best evidence the democrats had was that 13 minute video. That was impossible not to watch. It was shocking. And it was terrible. They feel that that shows exactly what happened but the question isnt what happened on january 6th because it was bad, and we all know that it was bad, but instead the question is whether or not the president incited it. And so that is and brian, to your point about mr. Caster, at one point he compared manslaughter to murder, which both involve culpableity which given the fact theyre trying to figure out whether or not the president incited it, it was a bad way to go. To griffs earlier point, the acquittedal is a foregone conclusion. He will not be convicted so why is it taking so long to get to that point . Ainsley good point. They need the 17 votes and they dont have it. A few republicans broke with party lines. The majority did not. The majority of the republicans say its unconstitutional, you cant impeach a president after hes out of office. The democrats say theyre doing this because they want to punish him, they dont want him to be able to run again. Lets talk about jobs. This is on everyones mind, when you see the shutdown of the Keystone Pipeline, you hear these individuals, Carley Shimkus, were going to talk to her a little later, she went to this area where so many of them have lost their jobs, a lady is holding her baby saying this is imperative we have this money coming in for our of family. Joe manchin, a democrat from west virginia, hes been a big proponent of coal, defender of the industry, and he sent a letter to President Biden and he said please reconsider your decision to close the pipeline. Please. He said i encourage you to reconsider your decision to revoke the cross Border Permit for the keystone xl pipeline and take into account the potential impacts of any further action, the safety, jobs and Energy Security. It is of the utmost importance that the United States maintain that Energy Security through strategic relationship was our allies, rather than increasing reliance on opec nations and russia. This includes the development of infrastructure like the keystone xl. A lot of people are against the pipeline. But it is very safe way to transport gas and oil. Brian its so agonizing and carley talked to people directly affected as in you lost your job the next day after he signed that paper, 14 State Attorney generals tell President Biden that they are reviewing available Legal Options to suing the federal government for stopping it. Theyre all republican, obviously. John tester, another democrat from montana, he also voted against stopping the xl pipeline. Remember, the votorama the other day, debating whether to go forward on the Reconciliation Option on passing the 1. 9 trillion rescue bill. They voted on the xl pipeline and i think it was 5248 they voted to put it back online and they so Chuck Schumer pulled it out. So joe manchin said something there. Joe manchin should say listen, unless something happens on the xl pipeline im not voting for your 1. 9 trillion bill. He is the most powerful man in washington. Youre there to represent west virginia. West virginia needs the xl pipeline. Make the stand, joe. Heres the thing. Joe manchin is now the new chairman of the Senate Energy committee so he really has more power than he did before. So thats why theres so much heft to that letter that he wrote. Then youve got john kerry who said we want these people to get these green energy jobs. So they should go and work where they make solar panels which really would mean you would have to move to china because thats where most solar panels are made and thats one of the points that was made that what the Executive Orders have done, not helping people who need jobs. So i guess pipelines are really fine, particularly if they help terrorists. But its not surprising because nuking the pipeline was never about the environment and you know this, mark. Its all been about appeasing the coastal elites, the people who fortify his victory and appeasing them. Thats what his entire administration has been about so far. If you look at the actions he had taken, theyve been about virtue signaling to the coast and nothing to do nothing to benefit the americans in the middle. Youve got all these people saying hey, i hope you reconsider. When you think about the people who voted for joe biden, youve got the environmentalists who love the fact that he signed these Executive Orders. Youve got the team at biden inc. , the administration trying to figure out what to do about climate change. But then youve got his union labor base and theyre looking at all these thousands, 11,000 union jobs just poof. If you go to a Dallas Mavericks game now, you will not hear or be able to stand for the National Anthem because theyre not playing it anymore, not singing it any more. 13 preseason and regular season games and its not been played and the athletics they just realized this, no one else has noticed it or said anything.
