Well, good morning, thank you so much for having me on. Pete good morning. Well, with Sheila Jackson lee, the fact of the matter is, yes, this bill, h. R. 127, is a horrible bill. Its egregious, if anything. Any american, any human really, should be upset about this absolutely blatant unconstitutional bill that shes trying to push fort. But the fact forth. But the fact of the matter is shes been in office for 25 years and has not actually had any of her gun control bills actually go into law in those years. So the real distraction here that theyre trying to push is pushing things like universal background checks into covid relief, into house rules, into these bills that we think are just going to be about anything else but gun control. But really slowly but surely, theyre pushing these types of gun control into our everyday bills so that were not going to be focused on it. So really h. R. 127 as egregious as it is is really a distraction from the real matter. Will you know, antonia, you point out its a distraction, but it might also be a tip of the hand. It reveals what the wish list might actually include. I think its important to highlight national gun ownership has exploded in the past year. So the idea of passing a gun control bill through legislation has to have been diminished. In other words, its less popular than ever to control guns. And so the goal, as you point out, would be to do it through other mechanisms, right . Absolutely. And also the fact of the matter is, like you just said, over 8 million new gun owners occurred through covid just last year, in 2020. So we have not only the typical person we think of when we think of gun owners, we think of people like me, africanamerican women are the Fastest Group of gun owners, particularly last year. So she is going against peoples wishes like those, im actually one of her constituents in houston. And so if she really is about or the Democratic Party really is about empowering people like me, particularly other black women, then she would actually go towards the wishes that we have, and that is to empower ourselves through the Second Amendment and not to disempower us through gun control. Theyre talking about not only evaluations for that person looking to get the gun, but Family Members, past spouses, associates. The Minnesota Department of education revealed its first draft of its social studies academic standards. They are taking out benching marks like benchmarks like world war i, world war ii, the civil war, theres no mention of the holocaust or the nazis, theres no mention or communism or socialism. When i was in school, we were taught the good, the bad and the ugly. Students will be denied that. Pete state senator coleman joins me now. Senator, thanks so much for being here. Hold on a sec is. 9 it may be a first draft, but all of those things are not in it . 9 11 not in it . Howd they explain that in. Thank you, pete. And to provide a little context, so every several years the Minnesota Department of education reviews its social studies standards for students, things they must master before graduating. And they left out key things that happened in world events like world war i and world war ii. The first draft didnt even mention the holocaust. And the sets of standards in previous years were pretty well received because they had stated purpose of students being able to protect and maintain freedom moving forward. But these standards have a stated purpose more like that of the 1619 project than that of maintaining freedom. Pete its all part of an evolution that went from the Civics Department to social studies. We actually reached out to the department of education for a statement the, and heres a portion of what they said. They said the benchmarks listed in this first draft are simply examples of what could be included under each standard. Historical world events aring being taught in minnesota schools. We welcome senator colemans feedback as well as that of every american. Based on what youve revealed, do you feel like theyre fairly including portions of, say, world war ii, and would they exclude them if no one spoke up about it . If you didnt expose this, what would they get away with . Quite frankly, pete, this is not exactly true, what theyre saying. Because 5,000 parents in minnesota reached out to the review board stating their concerns, and they were brushed off in a recent meeting. So my whole goal here is hoping that by shining a light on this, more and more people will reach out, and we can stop this in its tracks before it goes too far down the line. Pete so theres a review process, but they get to decide whether they actually review the comments that are sent in, and theyll probably just forge ahead with whatever bureaucratic, leftwing perspective they have of the curriculum thats ever changing, ever evolving and looking, as you said, a lot more like 1619 than 1776. Whats the next step, if you would, real quick. Theres going to be another draft coming out relatively shortly, so i think its imperative that minnesota parents and students reach out with their concerns and say we want to learn american history, world history, warts and all. We want the facts first and let the narrative be decided by the students themselves. Dont put the narrative in the curriculum. Pete all right. Lets go with this, merrill, im going to reveal my prediction at the end of the show, but i do think the underrated value here we talk so much about the quarterbacks, mahomes and brady, and we should, but i think the underrated x fax to have is the tampa bay defense going up against a diminished Offensive Line in kansas city. I think theres something to be said about the other side of the ball here. What do you think . I couldnt agree more. Defense wins championships, ive never seen a championship where the defense and the quarterback plays the whole game. If you think of the best team, kansas city is wounded. Probably where it matters the most, and that is in their Offensive Line. Both their tackles. And in the week 12 matchup, tampa got back in the game. Their outside rushers started to dominate the game with their starters. So without their starters, i just think it could be the difference. I wouldnt agree i mean, i completely agree that that probably is going to be the deciding factor in this game, that trench play, and the advantage would go to tampa. Will so, sean, lets break it down for the viewers at home. Might look for it during the game tonight. I dont know if you agree, but if kansas citys Offensive Line is, you know, weakened, and if that tampa bay defense is getting to Patrick Mahomes, that means hes scrambling around. The best quarterback in the league to deal with that, so you think mahomes can deal with that in. Most definitely. I think what were forgetting is, you know, these guys have faced each other four times, and its a split. And i think, you know, two of my favorite players, i think tom brady is the g. O. A. T. , and i think tampa bay does have an advantage with their defensive front. But what were failing to realize is that holmes is magic. Any kind of pressure, anything that they put on him, hes been able to find a way to win. And at the end of the day, theyre the defending super bowl champions. So i think its going to be a great game. I think the, you know, id love to say this, big respect to all these players. 122 guys have been doing protocols, you know, doing covid tests every day so we could actually see this game with. Jedediah yeah, thats also the unfortunate reality of people incurring a lot of debt who havent been able to work during this time with all of the lockdowns and have, you know, kids at home and who arent in school. But, you know, for one like myself who was in the Office Monday through friday for the last, you know, over ten plus years, it was a big change, and weve faced a lot of Financial Difficulties that we had not anticipated. I dont think anyone anticipated what was going to happen with the School Shutdowns for, you know, going on a year now. Jedediah yeah, thats quite some time. You also have the added rental housing site manager job. I imagine its not so easy to be collecting rent from people in addition with so many people struggling. Its not. You know, with all the eviction moratoriums that have been in place, now with the cdc moratorium thats been in place, in wisconsin we had a statewide moratorium about a month before the cdc moratorium kicked in afterwards. You know, there are a lot of people that are trying to pay what they can, and there are others that either are unable to or theyre just not. I talk to Property Managers across the country, and, you know, theyre telling me and sharing stories of households with 20,000 plus in rent due, 18,000 plus in rent due. Extreme amounts that we havent seen before or, you know, we would usually have legal remedies in place that we could use that we cant right now. Jedediah yeah. I think a lot of people are looking forward to, perhaps, the vaccination rollouts in greater detail and School Reopenings and getting back to work and all sorts of things that could maybe lend those stimulus checks to be put towards other things. I think the chiefs i picked the chiefs by 3, but i want brady and company to win. I put my money on the chiefs. I want to say tampa 39, kansas city 34. You can have blind allegiance for whoever you love. But i also love that it brings people together, different backgrounds, racially, sociowith economically around a common love. Senate. He spent 36 years walking the halls of capitol hill during the campaign he touted his relationship with both democrats and republicans. The white house says that the president wants to make a deal with republicans, but no question the clock is ticking on that the covid relief. Speaking of republicans, the president invited those republicans last week into the oval office, also democrats, to try to hammer out a teal on that 1. 9 trillion covid relief package. Republicans, though, upset because democrats moved forward without them. Its called budget reconciliation. Monday night the president met with some of those republican senators in the oval office. Middle class folks need help. But you dont need to get any help to someone making 300,000 or 250. So its somewhere between an individual making up to 75 and phasing out and a couple making up to 150 and phasing out. Reporter meanwhile, the new chairman of the budget committee, or Bernie Sanders, is taking democrats to task. Remember, hes an independent from vermont. He tweeted, quote, unbelievable, there are some dems who want to lower the income el eligibility for individuals. In orders, Working Class people who got checks from trump would not get them from bind. Brilliant. Hes being backed by congresswoman alexandria ocasiocortez from new york. She said, quote it would be outrageous if we ran on giving more relief and ended up doing the opposite. Its sad that this is even an argument in the dem party. Covid relief is disaster relief, and its urgent. Our first act out of the gate should be big, bold and strong not weaker and smaller. Of course, as you know, republicans are proposing a 600 billion relief package, about a third of the dems package. Still trying to hash it out but, as i said, the clock is ticking, time is running out. Next door to our pandemic get who seemed as devoted to the expresident , just plowed our driveway without being asked and did a great job. As nice as it is, its just not the same currency as justice and truth. Of course defined by her. To pretend it would be would be a lie, and they probably arent looking for absolution anyway, but i can offer a Standing Invitation to make amends. Pete and jedediah, listen, i do my best and i really try not to sum up ideological opponents as one cohesive, monolithic group, but i do find that many on the left are finding virtue as how they check a box, not how they live as human beings. Shes, in essence, having trouble seeing them as humans, jedediah, and that is an increasing problem. Jedediah yeah. That column is incredibly sad. It really is. And i think it is a problem, and i think social media has forced that polarization to be Even Stronger than it was prior. Some things have to be bigger than politics, you know . They just have to be. There are good, kind people who are democrats and good, kind people who are republicans, and even within the parties there are people who disagree. We on this show often times will disagree. Thats what makes this country great. We sometimes agree and we sometimes disagree. But to ignore every other aspect of humanity and to be so focused on politics if someone does something nice for you and because they may disagree with you politically you struggle with a thank you, thats a problem. And i think it requires selfreflection on every single one of our parts and societally. Look at what weve be. Ing loot at these look at these faces on social media. Its bad for our kids to see, and we can fix it. Pete yeah. We had governor Mike Huckabee on the program earlier. He usually has great insight, this is what he said. The most bigoted, presented, hateful thing that ive seen in a major newspapers maybe ever. I had to read it twice to think was this satire . No, she actually is saying these things, and it was just stunning. On this sunday i think what a great reminder that maybe the reason they did that is not because they were trumpers, but because they were decent people. Why is it so hard for some of these people to understand that there are people who dont think like them, that they love their country, they love their family and they love god, and because of that they do nice things for other people. Im just stunned by this. Pete because of that, they believe in basic charity. They have the ability to plow their driveway, and then they look across the street when theres a, you know, once every tenyear snowfall and think, hey, maybe ill help my neighbor out. I dont know how they voted, or maybe i do, but you know what . They probably dont have the means to get out of their driveway, so im going to help them out. This is sad but i also love it because its honest. You dont write something unless you really mean it x this person is clearly so conflicted and hatefilled with the politics of it that admitting that maybe something good could have been done by a trumpite is a mindblowing experience for this writer. Jedediah homicides in many states have increased over the last year especially in cities where District Attorneys are implementing liberal agendas. In los angeles, for example, where the District Attorney is facing a lawsuit, there were almost 100 more murders last year in 2020 than in 2019. Here to react is Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney john. When you look at these numbers, lets just show those right off the bat, you have philadelphia, 143 more homicides last year than the year prior. St. Louis saw an increase of 70 homicides. So i see these numbers, theyre horrifying. The question is why. Why is this happening . What policies are being instituted that are causing this . Can you fill us in on that . Yeah, i can. To date, theres been a 25 increase in the homicides in Los Angeles City compared to last year. Los angeles county, according to the sheriff, theres a 140 increase in homicides. I constantly hear progressive prosecutors such as george gas cone talk about mass incarceration, but what about mass victimization . What about the fact that theres such a large group of victims . For each defendant, for each criminal whos committing a crime, theres at least one victim if not many. And many prosecutors are leaving those victims behind. I constantly hear social justice, thats social injustice. Such a large group of individuals that these District Attorneys are leaving behind, and most of them are people of color. Im going to stand with them. I believe in social reforms but not when theyre made in hes, not when they generaltize the safety of the public jeopardize and not when they do harm to individuals and leave the victims behind. One of those policies is zero bail. The californians just voted, and they overwhelmingly voted to say no to zero bail. George gascon has violated the will of the people, and hes implemented zero bail for all misdemeanors and for most felonies including Domestic Violence and child abuse. These are repeated offenders, and he has jedediah so, jon sure, go ahead. Jedediah i dont want to interrupt you, i apolo joyed. I just want do you, im listening to these policies. Youre a criminal out there, you want to create commit a crime, and you see the actions of these d. A. S, what message does it send you . Its sad. Theyre procriminal. Many of these t. A. S are d. A. S are procriminal. Theyre basically stepping up and saying theyre for the defendant, theyre for the criminal. Theyre leaving the victim behind and the community behind. These are good people. These are really good people. And the ones who are victimized deserve somebody the fight for them. And to allow a criminal or a defendant to commit a crime against a vulnerable individual and then allow that person to be released on zero bail and to be able to intimidate or scare that victim again or go back into the public and commit another crime and then not allow a District Attorney to file an out on bail enhancement, that sends a horrible message to everybody in the community. Jedediah yeah. You know whats really horrible is a lot of people live in these cities, and thats an unfortunate, horrible, sad reality. Ainsley you know, ive been to church. Two sundays, last sunday and the sunday before that, since the pandemic in person. And it felt so great. I was basically skipping in to fox news on monday morning, and i announced to the whole crew that i was in such a good mood because i got to praise and worship in person, and it was wonderful. It was great to hear the message, in new york youre allowed to sing. In california it is 25 , but youre not allowed to sing or chant. So for me, worship and the music is, god speaks to me in so many ways, but that is something near and dear to my heart. I grew up in a family that loved music, it was very important to us. No one can sing in my family, but we love just belting out to christ or singing hymns in our formal churches. I love to praise and worship when the words are are up on the screen. So its very important to me. But youre right, its better than nothing. 25 , i think thats probably what it is in new york, 2550. You have to sign up in advance in new york. Ainsley even the best of us, the ones who have the best attitude, are is starting to feel that finish families have lost loved ones that cant have funerals, you couldnt visit your loved one in the hospital when they were dying. They died alone, you know . Talking to a friend of mine yesterday, these are moms, moms that changed you, that fed you, that clothed you, that worked hard for you, put you in schools, raised you, prayed for you, and theyre dying alone in the hospitals. These families need god and they need to go to church. Pete great point. So well said. Weve been talking to you all weekend about the state of florida. The state of being open, the state of freedom and experiencing it here down in the sunshine state. The man responsible for that is Governor Ron Desantis, in large part keeping this state opened, and im pleased to be joined by the governor himself. Good to have you. Welcome to tampa bay and to the great state of florida. Will when he says hes a bucs fan, you grew up that way . Yeah. When they had the orange uniforms, when they were kind of the joke of the nfl, the visiting team would usually have more fans than we would have, so i was a supporter. And, you know, we were able to win a super bowl in 2003, which was great, but weve had some lean years. So to be able to be here and hosting the super bowl with the bucs in it, with tom brady at the helm, theres a lot of excitement here in the tampa pa bay area. Will absolutely. Ive made the case to bring back those cream sickle uniforms. I think theyre beautiful. [laughter] lets talk about being open. Ive experienced it, ive within out and about in tampa this entire weekend. This isnt the first championship youve hostedded, not the first big event youve hosted. Talk about you opening this state up and whether or not its been a success. Well, you look around the country, and they still are debating whether schools should be open. Weve had schools open the whole year. They talk about whether businesses should be open. Every business in the florida has a right to operate. They talk about all these people unemployeded. In florida every Single Person has a right to earn a living, and our Unemployment Rate is lower than the national average. Our Tourism Market hasnt recovered. Our covid though, we have less covid mortality per capita than the national average. 25 states or higher, so the lockdowns dont work on their own, but they cause catastrophic damage to society. So what weve been able to do as other states have tried to lock people down, weve tried to lift people up. And i tell ya, every time i go out someone will come up to me and say my kid wasnt doing well, thank you for getting him back in school. Or hi if business would have failed, thank you for saving it. Or i would have lost my job. Those effects are going to make this state so strong going guard, and i think had we tried a Different Court that had not worked in other places, i think it takes years and years to recover from the damage. Maybe decades, in fact. Will the datas clear, you know, its come in, hospitalizations, transmissions, mortality combined with the economics of being open, but ten that leads me to this, and i dont know if theres an easy answer to this question, but outside of a few places, the national medias largely used you as a point of criticism while celebrating governors like andrew cuomo. Why do you think that is in the face of all that evidence . Well, look, they have a partisan agenda. It was an election year, they did not want the president to carry florida. I think the fact that the president endorsed me when i ran for governor, so they had a narrative. And their narrative is whatever helps them advance their political it doesnt matter about the facts, they will ignore facts that are inconvenient for their narrative and even concoct conspiracy theories as to why the facts arent so i think theyve done a horrible job with what theyve done. But heres the thing, people arent buying it because people vote with their feet, and they are flooding into this state. We have investment coming in, we have people buying home like never before, we have just the fact that we have schools open, people are leaving in every corner of the state just because we have schools. Weve had sports going on the whole time. I have parents who have moved their kids to florida because they didnt want to miss football season which they would have in some of these locked down states. So i think the narratives that some of the corporate elite media try to sell, people dont buy it, and this is a perfect example because if people bought their narrative the, youd have people leaving here to go to these statements that are supposedly doing so well. Will you talked about voting with their feet. By the way, are you going to try to translate those into vote for president . [laughter] weve got a great governors election in 2022 which will be very important for our state and quite frankly, i think, you know, gives us the ability to keep the momentum going. Is so thats what were focused on. Will is that a no to running for president . Thats 2022 we have to or with i worry about. Will i dont know if this is limited to conservatives, free speech loving individuals out there are concerned about not necessarily the government this time, but Big Tech Companies suppressing speech. Seemingly on one side of the aisle. You have a bill youre putting forward to try to rein that back in. Tell me about that. Sure. Well, one, we want to protect peoples data privacy which these Big Companies really manipulate and profit off of. Two, we want to make sure theyre not interfering in our elections by deplatforming candidates and silencing people they disagree with. But then also the broader censorship of society. I mean, they have the ability to wipe you off the map online. And its not just someone who may be making comments. Peoples businesses are able to reach people through these platform, payment process, emails. Theyve wiped that out for people they havent liked. Theyre acting as monopolies that are exerting more power than the monopolies at the turn of the 20th century like standard oil. And so they should not have this much authority over american life, and i think our bill really empowers individuals if theyre not following their own terms of service, if theyre targeting you because of your viewpoint, thatsfectively a consumer fraud. So were allowing the ability for individuals to be able to sue and the Attorney General to be able to will if youre deplatformed during an election cycle and running for office . Anybody. Anybody. I mean, because what they to is they play games with these terms of service. They dont, they dont implement it fairly because, just think about it, they will deplatform a conservative, but then the theyll let the Ayatollah Khamenei spout all this act israel and jews. The first four weve got teriyaki, caribbean, Honey Mustard and buffalo, and that dads going to run you through our fifth recipe. Yeah. All right, this is a mouthful, super smokes sweet and spicy chicken wings. Okay . [laughter] laugh thats a mouthful. Basically, what you do is you take your wigs, and you season wings and you season them up with pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, you season your wings, set the grill. This is the gravity series grill. You smoke em on the top rack at 225 degrees for 45 minutes. You take em off the top rack and put them in a pan with your favorite Barbecue Sauce. Weve got a honey Barbecue Sauce with a little apple juice in it. Leave them in the pan for about 15 minutes, then you turn this grill up. Its amazing. Smoke from 150 all the way to 700 degrees.
