Senator Lindsey Graham certainly a very senior republican senator now saying that he is backing the president s push for the 2,000 payments and the repeal of section 230. Here is a little bit of what he told Hannity Last Night. A 2,000 payment is expensive. Its not the most efficient way to get aid to people who are suffering. But 600 is not enough. The president has dug in. He wants a vote on a 2,000 payment. I support that. And he wants to Repeal Section 230 to keep big tech from running the country and censoring conservation. He supports both of those. I have think we are going to get a vote in the senate in we control the senate. If we lose georgia, we will never get a vote on Repeal Section 230. They will send another bill over thats going to make this bill look cheap. If you want to control spending. Make sure that the republicans win the senate. But, also to tell us if Mitch Mcconnell is able to put this other bill together, 2,000 plus a fix for section 2302 2320 Rain Big Tech Monopolies and Election Reforms, will you sign that bill . Well, first of all, im very encouraged that mitch and the senate are working on reforms to section 230. This is a law thats been abused by the Big Tech Companies he would shoeing themselves with Legal Protections while they go out and this is was intended for any Social Media Platform who was a town square if you just let people post whatever their thoughts are, the company would be protected from liability. And, yet, some of these Tech Companies are censoring data. Primarily conservative data by the way, where they are now when it would be considered publishers. That was not the intent of section 230. So i think its very important that the senate lock at that i hope they get something out. Election reform as we have seen, i mean, look at all the different states that went against their own state laws. That said how election day was supposed to work. And, yet, whether it was their Secretary Of State or a Supreme Court in the state, making up a new law when the legislature framed a different law. We need some standards, especially when you think about Election Night. We ought to know in america what the results are on Election Night. Whoever wins or loses, look at a state like florida, very large state, they were able to get their results in by 10 00 at night. Then you you have other states. New york is still counting votes right now in election race. Clawedy tenney up by 25 votes. They are still counting votes and finding ballots. Thats what undermines public trust when, you know, its 3 00 in the morning and they kick everybody are out of a room when you are legally supposed to be able to watch whats going on in that room and then you wake up the next morning and hundreds of thousands of votes swung be a different direction. Thats what undermines public confidence. I hope they get that right and get a bill out that will address those problems that we saw. Jason it will be interesting. Rachel i was just going to say if it comes to the house you will vote for that . Well, obviously you want to see what they come up, if they come up with something that actually fixes those problems. These problems have been identified. Courts tonight like getting in the middle of that. Again, you go look at some of the state Supreme Court, pennsylvania, their law says a ballot that comes in after 8 00 on Election Night when the polls close, that shouldnt be counted because the polls close at 8 00. By the way, other states do that. And their state law said that and yet the Supreme Court just said you know what . We will just let ballots come in for days later and selectively count what happens. That is not what a fair system is about. You want to know what the rules are, play by the rules. But when somebody changes the rules in the middle of the came at halftime or something, it creates, again, it breeds a lot of distrust in the election that you still see right now. Millions of people have been asking these questions. I hope they are able to get a bill out. Jason yeah, no. It will be interesting. President trumps Treasury Secretary says theres new Stimulus Checks started shipping out to millions of americans via Direct Deposit Last Night and they increased the payments to 2,000, however it is snagged. And highlighted three additional issues with National Significance if you would like to see Congress Tackle together. This week the senate will begin a process to bring these three priorities into focus. Today is the last day of early voting, and so were just encouraging everybody on our side that whats at stake and what their responsibility is and theyre responding greatly, i think. Jason senator i want to ask you about what Mitch Mcconnell has announced that his using the socalled rule 14 and trying to couple together some other issues. Is that convoluting the message or are democrats taking advantage of that, and trying to exploit it or how do you read that and what are you telling the people in georgia how youre going to vote and what you support . First of all, i applaud the president for signing this latest round of covid relief. The democrats themselves held this up for months and so here in last minute, theyre complaining about the normal operation of the senate. Im an outsider of this process but i can tell you the three things that Mitch Mcconnell is trying to do are in line with what the president has said. I support what the president is trying to do relative to the 230 clause, the repeal of that and also the 2,000 Stimulus Checks, were in full support of that. I think this is the right thing to do. The democrats are crying foul and its so hypocritical because what they are trying to do again , the 11th hour of an important race, is to play politics again. They did it in the president ial race and we see them doing it again in these two senate races. Kelly loeffler and i are doing everything we can to make sure that we hold the line here in georgia and this is just one more step the president really wants to do before we get through this congress. What does that tell you about your chances in this election, and also, about senator loeffler rachel, i like our chances. Right now its like when i ran in 14. We were down eight to 10 points in the polls back then, we won by eight, i kept telling my team because we were out in the state running around meeting people talking to real people about what they were thinking and what they were doing and i have that same feeling right now. We feel that once all the legal votes are counted and the facts are applied to the law we will emerge victorious and be certified as the winner in this district but its been a long journey for sure. The District Attorney, the assistant District Attorney who are working under gascone now are very happy to get these dictates which are requiring them to dismiss things like gang enhancements and other type of enhancements that apply under California Law and this is one of them so this is a supposed gang killing a case of mistaken identity and the innocent bystander was murdered, and the sweetheart deal is for seven years for this murder, which is an outrageously small sentence, and so whats very unusual here is that the new District Attorney has an Advisory Panel that includes public defenders and it includes this tru jillo, so two attorneys who are not on the case at all, a supervisor of the public defender, and a supervisor in the District Attorneys side apparently made this idea that the judge reject ed it, because the prosecutor in the case refuses to dismiss the gang enhancements and other enhancements so they didnt get away with it this time but you wonder how many other sweetheart deals are being pulled behind the scenes between sides that are supposed to be add vernacular english adversarial under our system and thats what the public expects. Rachel right and you say this is a sign that gascone and obviously this panel that hes formed that theyre not really working for victims of crime. Oh, absolutely and California Law actually has a role for the victims and the families and prosecutors are supposed to let them know and consult with them and the process so that didnt happen in this case. The family is shock and appalled and i think the public should be very concerned that this type of a light sentence is being handed out to gang killers. Rachel yeah, absolutely. We know that gascones campaign was funded by george sorros, so this is a case for all of us to worry about because he could be funding other races around the country and we could have results like this indiana any one city, so great with that he is doing that, in fact. Rachel yes, we reached out to the la District Attorney office for a statement but they declined to comment. I want to move on to another topic thats a big topic in your state of california and that is the campaign to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom now they just got a huge injection of half a Million Dollars from a Consulting Firm to fund that recall election. We know its very difficult to recall it, governor, it only happened once in your state so its been tried about 55 times, so id love to get your opinion on whether you think that this particular effort will be successful. Well, i do think so. Im a supporter of it, and you know, my husband and i both signed this petition. The in fusion of cash is really critical because the last time this happened i also lived in california and was able to vote in the recall of our prior governor, grey davis, and in that case, it was now congressman darryl issas significant cash contribution that helped us get across the line because weve already gathered over 800,000 signatures just by volunteer efforts but you really need paid signature gatherers to get it across the line and we have a little less than three months now to do that and so this is going to be critical and we do expect other contributions of this nature to come in as well and i think the governor, from what is reported in the press, is beginning to get concerned that it might actually have to appear on the ballot and have to take this Recall Effort seriously, but all the same ingredients are there as we had in the grey davis recall. The governor is increasingly unpopular. Were actually losing citizens, were going to lose a congressional seat in the upcoming redistricting. Money we dont have, money that were borrowing from our kids future so i think we need to target that a little bit more. The president has also a real concern and i share that concern in terms of the Liability Protection for social Media Companies, the section 230 Liability Protection, so thats one of the issues that the president talked about in the ndaa, the National Defense authorization act. Senator mcconnell wants to address that and then i personal ly think we do have to take a look at what happened during the election. We cant just forget it and move on like democrats want us to. We need to seriously consider what fraud did occur, the other types of lack of transparency, the problems that we did have the irregularities in this election need to be examined and they need to be corrected for the next election so i think those are the three issues that leaderrer mcconnell talked about on the senate yesterday. Rachel yeah, absolutely and one of them is section 230 which as you know, because you were really instrumental in the investigation of hunter biden, something that big tech was censoring prior to the election, i think a lot of people are wondering look, you did all of this investigation, you were vindicated about it not being some sort of russian plot that it really did happen, that the laptop did exist and that there were connections to china, and the biden family. Whats going to happen with that investigation if the democrats take control of the senate . If the democrats win in georgia on tuesday . Well itll go down in the dark hole of history and be completely buried and listen one of my concerns is just unequal justice in this country. The damage that the peter strzok and james comeys of the world did to our law enforcement, the lack of credibility, the lack of integrity, people just dont have faith in that institution anymore. Its a real tragedy. We need people to have faith in our system of justice, its an equal system of justice so thats from my standpoint an enormous problem but getting back to section 230 i think the solution theres really two parts to that. Liability protection for content thats uploaded on to those platforms but then Liability Protection for what they call moderation policies which is really censorship. I think thats the Liability Protection that needs to be eliminated, they need to be transparent, these Companies Need to publish exactly how they moderate to how they sensor, and if they dont follow their own policies people ought to have the right to sue them if theyre taken off. Griff senator let me ask you, rachel brought up if the democrats win the election in georgia, your investigation into hunter biden could go away. We know that hunter biden has been under federal investigation since 2018 but do you believe a special counsel appointment is necessary . Yeah, im not a real fan of special counsels and of course Attorney General barr is not going to appoint one. It might be necessary. That depends on exactly what the Vice President biden does in terms of appointing an Attorney General, is that something we can have confidence in but this thing dates back to well before 2018. Remember his business partners, devon archer, convicted in 2018 and the investigation was going on for a couple years. Parts of the email chain there talked about bringing hunter biden into the tribal bond fraud scheme back in 20132014 so and we tried to put a little honey in hunters pocket, and yet, hunter biden had no involvement in that prosecution whatsoever, even though we know that a lot of other Financial Transactions that really werent delved into or looked into at that point in time. Griff senator, Attorney General barr, which now of course stepped down, did not feel that it was looked into, but i mean, i guess i want to just leave it with how much confidence do you have in president elect biden that he will, indeed, appoint a fair and independent Attorney General . So in the end, we just might need a special counsel as much as i dislike that, what happens with special counsels in this case, i think, in order to restore the confidence of our Justice System so that the American People do have confidence that itll be equal justice under the law rather than a special privileges for those that are connected to in this case particularly democrats seem to have a little bit easier time of getting that passed when they do something wrong.
