Elementary and middle school children in Jackson can put on their geologistâs hat for the day to uncover fish fossils extracted from the Eocene Green River Formation in southwest Wyoming. The fossils are part of kits provided free to students who request them thanks to a partnership by The Wyoming State Geological Survey and the University of Wyoming Geological Museum along with Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium and Science Kitchen, which came together to create a safe at-home alternative to their typical in-person festival. âOne of our goals of the Fossil Fish Festival is to put a piece of this incredible Wyoming fossil resource in the hands of as many young Wyomingites as possible in hopes of sharing our stateâs unique and important fossil history with the people who live in it,"Â Geological Museum manager Dr. Laura Vietti said in a press release.Â
