Jan 17, 2021 DANVERS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Members of the Danvers Police Department are mourning the sudden death of their recently-retired Police Chief Patrick Ambrose. The DPD announced the passing of former Chief Ambrose on Saturday night. "The Danvers Police Department is heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of recently retired Chief Patrick Ambrose," DPD said. "Chief Ambrose served this department and the Town of Danvers for over 35 years. We celebrated his retirement last Friday." According to DPD, Chief Ambrose rose through the ranks of the agency for 32 years, and was officially appointed Chief of Police in 2016. He retired on Friday January 8th, 2021. On his last day, the Department held a final farewell drive-by parade to wave him off, which was attended by dozens of police cars, fire trucks, public works vehicles, and local residents.
