Feb 04, 2021 12:30:57 PM The Immigration Department says the deportation of University of the South Pacific Council vice-chancellor Pal Ahluwalia was because he was deemed a public risk. This was revealed in a letter written on February 3 by Acting Director for Immigration Amelia Komaisavai to VC Ahluwalia obtained by FijiLive. Komaisavai in the letter said the Minister for Immigration Voreqe Bainimarama had declared the Ahluwalias as prohibited immigrants. She said Ahluwalia had been deemed by Bainimarama to be a person who had been conducting himself in a manner prejudicial to the peace, public safety, and good governance. “You have been conducting yourself in a manner prejudicial to the peace, defence, public safety, public order, public health, security, or good government of the Fiji Islands.”
