Reporter liz, joe bidens lead has been growing throughout the day as mailin votes are still being counted here in the city of philadelphia, at the Pennsylvania Convention center, and in other cities throughout the state. As of right now, joe biden holds a lead of about 13,500 votes but as i mentioned, that number has been getting bigger each and every hour as more and more mailin ballots are being counted. Today for the third day in a row, more protests between the antitrump count every vote protesters and the protrump demonstrators who want, as they say, every legal vote to be counted. They agree with the president s claims that this election is somehow rigged and that theres cheating going on by democrats. Philadelphias mayor, though, hes a democrat, he calls those claims baseless and well, he had some harsh words for the president. Hes going to acknowledge the fact that he lost and he needs to congratulate the winner just as jimmy carter did, as george h. W. Bush and frankly, as al gore did and stop this and let us move forward as a country. Reporter here in philadelphia, there is still about 40,000 votes left to be counted. Statewide there are about 112,000 mailin votes to be counted. As you know, about 75 or so of those mailin votes have been going toward joe biden so what we can expect is that his lead could grow but if the margin holds where it is right now, which is unlikely but possible, if the margin holds where it is or is less than half of a percent, that would automatically trigger a recount here in pennsylvania. We do know even if a recount doesnt happen, there will be many legal challenges ahead brought on by the Trump Campaign. Liz . Liz indeed. Yeah. Very very close and that would be pretty obvious to have a recall at that point or sorry, a recount at that point. From pennsylvania to arizona. The fox decision desk called the arizona race for joe biden on election night, but three days later, the counting does continue, as do the legal challenges. The battle for the grand canyon state continues as they continue to process ballots here and its not really a surprise that we would go beyond election day. You may recall back in 2016, they needed a couple extra days to work through it. They are very organized here. I have been around the country now and i would compare arizona with ohio in so much as they are incredibly organized in making sure that every i is dotted and every t is crossed and absolutely they will process all the ballots and making sure that we can come the a proper conclusion here. Let me take you inside the numbers. Earlier we talked about that 225,000 ballots still needing to be processed, 165,000 maricopacounty. The real number you have to concern yourself with is how much might the president close the gap between himself and the former Vice President. Earlier in the week we were talking about 5247, we were talking about 5146. Its a lot tighter than that right now. Its right around 4948, with the former Vice President just about at the 50 mark but again, the gap continues to shrink. State officials here tell me the process is moving along just as it should. These are folks who have been working around the clock since tuesday to make sure that every single vote gets counted and we just really need to let them do their jobs. Reporter let them do their jobs, she said. They want to make sure that every legal vote is counted here in the great state of arizona. Outside, we have seen crowds gathering throughout the day in support of the president. They say he will reel in the former vp and ultimately claim this state. Here inside over my shoulder, you see the process continues to work itself out. They are making sure that this is a process that is transparent and i can tell you its quite interesting to be here where its all happening and everything seems to be calm. A big contrast compared to outside. Liz . Liz my goodness, i know. I know. You give us really good insight on the quality of the vote counting at the moment. As we keep one eye on arizona, i guess a foot in philadelphia, then to georgia. We need to go to this. The georgia secretary of state is just now giving a live update on vote counting there at this moment. This is as we said, the secretary of state. Let us listen in for a moment. Interest in our election obviously goes far beyond our borders. The final tally in georgia at this point has huge implications for the entire country. The stakes are high and the emotions are high on all sides. We will not let those debates distract us from our work. We will get it right and we will defend the integrity of our elections. In some states, there are complaints about monitors not being allowed to watch the count. In georgia, this process is and will remain open and transparent to monitors. If any member of the public raises legitimate concerns, we will investigate those. Right now, the outstanding ballots are about the same as they were this morning, not too much change on that front. But what we do have is a little more information on some of the provisionals that are out there right now. We will start with, lets start with the margin right now. We are looking at 2,448,796 votes for President Trump. And 2,450,381 votes for Vice President biden. That gives us a margin of 1,585. Thats where we stand right now as of 3 08 p. M. On friday. Friday now. We do know that today is the day for the deadline for the military and overseas ballots that would have been postmarked by tuesday, election day, to be accepted and counted in this state. We do have some updated numbers on that. Lets see. On the overall side, we have 18,008 of those ballots have been accepted. And at least 8,410 that are Still Available to be received. Now, again, i want to reemphasize this, that does not mean theres a bucket of 8,410 votes ready to be counted. That means there are 8,410 votes that could have been postmarked on tuesday, and could be received by the Elections Official today. So as i said earlier, thats going to be more than zero and less than 8,410. So it will be somewhere in that range. We dont really know how many that is. I do have a county by county breakdown of available ones. I will give you some of the highlights and we will try to put this into a release to give the details following this press conference. But i think like when washington is divided and senate goes republican and the president perhaps looks like joe biden but surely not conclusive at all right now, i think it means washingtons going to stay out of the way of the market and largely out of the way of business allowing business folks to do what they do best, create new things and grow and do well. Look, obviously theres going to be some volatility in the market between now and when we actually know ultimately how this election points ends up, but you know, after that, i think there may be some calm waters ahead as we see a washington thats likely not going to do a lot of legislating. Liz election limbo aside, phil, we are looking at a jobs report that came in, we saw a creation or getback of jobs that had been lost, at least some of them certainly in the beginning of the year. A gain of 638,000, unemployment ticked down to 6. 8 versus an expectation of 7. 7 so thats a beautiful number, but the psychology of the markets right now, fixated specifically on the data earnings or this election drama. I think the election drama is almost behind us, right . I think the market doesnt care, as you can tell by the reaction of the last couple of days. I was singing a song i made up called gridlock and goldilocks. You put those two together, i mean, its going to be beautiful for stocks, right . Youve got the senate thats going to be able to block any dramatic tax hikes, theyre not going to be able to put in a lot of regulations, except by executive order, so this is going to be the perfect scenario for the stock market.
