Joining me right now anderson Capital Management cfa, Peter Anderson joining the conversation, fox business dagen mcdowell, Fox News Contributor Brian Brendberg is here. Also with us this morning looking at peter about the markets, markets rebounded, thanks for joining us, great to see everybody. Markets rebounding after decline in Second Quarter gdp. We saw contraction of 32. 9 , worst contraction since the Great Depression but hopes for Coronavirus Vaccine keeping some investors optimistic, Johnson Johnson announcing its moving to Human Vaccine trials. Peter anderson, great to have you this morning. Lets talk earnings for a second because we are looking at important ones out this morning like caterpillar, how do things look to you . Well, first off, there were terrific earnings last night as you were reporting, so thats a great situation. I think industrials we are going to have a different picture, right, because the lockdown stocks such as apple and google, et cetera, are playing right into the pandemic now. The the other companies, they are not involved in technology i think we might see some more choppy results but im not worried about that because with a vaccine on horizon, i think that will lift all but it will take more time. Maria do you think that the earnings overall are showing that we could see growth in the second half of the year based on what ceos are saying in terms of guidance . Well, you know, we have to listen to each one of the ceos youre right because that gives a sense of what they think the probability of a vaccine are successful vaccine being implemented into the marketplace so i think what youre going to see half of the people believe its going to take longer, some believe there wont be a vaccine and the other half of ceos would be very positive saying by the end of this year we will have at least some prototypes for a vaccine and then we are off to the races because we desperately need some more clarity about the timing of that and caterpillar and the rest of them, once we do get more clarity i think that analysts will be modeling in much stronger growth. Maria Brian Brendberg. Brian hey, peter, brian here. Does it concern you that congress cant figure out what they need to do next to help the recovery. Clearly we are at a deadlock, we are talking about trillions more dollars in spending. Its not clear to me by the way that the spending will spur growth, wall street seems to be okay with that situation. Are you okay with that situation . Well, its complex, right, because now youre throwing politics into this situation and we are all trying to work very hard at modeling earnings and factoring into a vaccine, when you the politics aspect of that i think that we are happy that congress is at least signaling that theyre supporting us and the fed, et cetera, so i think all of those things are mandate approach but they are not a longterm solution, so sure, it worries me that we havent come to a consensus on that but in the long term i dont think its really going to matter. The only thing that matters now is clarity on vaccines and, for instance, if tomorrow, of course, its too early but lets just assume that tomorrow we came out with a successful vaccine, i think all of the other issues congress is squabbling about recovery package would be secondary to that kind of good news. Maria all right, we will leave it there, peter, great to get your insights this morning, thank you so much. Youre welcome. Maria Peter Andersen joining us. Take a look at morning mover, ford the stock jumping after reporting smaller than expected loss, production was hit hard because of the coronavirusrelated shutdown, also fox, ford is up and caterpillar crossing the tape moments ago, adjusted earnings came 1. 03 a share. Maria welcome back, reopening safely, testing for america working to get students back to class, americans back to work and the economy back on track. The nonprofit partnering with a nearly a dozen universities to secure lowcost coronavirus testing, joining us right now Infectious Disease epidemiologist, dr. Adamson, great to have you this morning, thanks very much for joining us. What is your take on reopening schools and and the best way to do it . We have audience who really is interested in terms of whats happening with their children this fall, how do you see it . Doctor well, it depends on what the Community Prevalence is but in areas and communities where the burden of covid is low enough, reopening schools is possible and while its complicated puzzle of policies and, you know, scheduling and, you know, changing air flow, really at the heart of testing is going to be essential to reopen schools safely. Maria yeah, i mean, you know, now its become protocols, its become, you know, common to go to anywhere in an event and go to institution and youre getting tested or youre getting your temperature taken, so tell us more about testing for america and this initiative . Well, testing for america has really helped to identify some of the key components of testing and venders that are able to fulfill the criteria, so, for example, when you test to be well, we need a huge number available, we need them to be highly accurate, low cost as you mentioned and also most importantly right now we need a fast time to results. At max we need 1 to 2 days of testing until the test results are returned, and so testing for america has helped partner colleges, universities and designing protocols for the frequency of asymptomatic testing for different groups and help designed the protocols and connect the groups with testing venders that meet the rigorous criteria. Maria so, dr. Adamson, how concerned should parents be . Doctor one of the things the note about it the population were people who had mild to moderate symptoms and so by default theres a selection bias in that, you know, children are much less likely to show symptoms, you know, only 20 of kids might show any symptoms at all and where adults and older adults maybe 80 of them are showing symptoms. So when we pick and choose, you will find higher loads but would surprise me on average children had the same infectiousness as grownups and we have seen from other studies like the south korean Contact Tracing study that really theres evidence that younger kids under 10 are likely less infectious. Maria so that would be the most important things that schools need to implement in terms of making it a safe environment for children to go to school this fall . What is most important in terms of those safety precautions . Doctor well, you know, weve got to do the basics of masks, opening up windows, adding fans for good circulation and really when we think about ways to protect teachers who could be the ones probably most vulnerable of having that outcomes, that theyve become infected, thats where testing teachers will likely be the most essential parts of reopening the schools and, you know, testing them frequently, you know, on occasion thats appropriate, dynamic according to what the Community Spread of covid is around the school. Maria all right, we will leave it there. Dr. Adamson, good to see you this morning, thanks very much. Doctor thank you for having me. Maria we will see you soon. Do i want to see a date change, no, but i dont want to see a crooked election. This election would be the most rigged election in history if that happens. Maria thats President Trump defending stance on mailin voting after tweeting this yesterday. We told you at the end of the show. He wrote on twitter with universal mailin voting not absentee voting which is good, 2020 would be the most inaccurate and fraudulent election in history. It would be a great embarrassment to the usa, delay the election until people can properly and securely safely vote, question mark, question mark, question mark. We were all wondering what the president was doing when we were leaving the show yesterday. Dagen mcdowell, one day later, what do you think that was about . Dagen i think i said yesterday that this is one of those bomb that is the president drops on twitter, its a bone he throws in the yard so all democrats, all the people on the left, all the members on the media go chasing it because is it a distraction, it is a little ball of catnip that he throws in the grass and kittens go after it. That being said, anything question mark question mark question mark lets just like not get our trousers in a twist over that. Nevertheless, he raises a huge issue that the democrats seem to be ignoring or acting like that theres no problem, that how are you going to vote during a pandemic that rely tong Postal Service is the way to go here, not only the wall street journal has editorial about this today, new jersey had to disqualify 25 of mailin ballots. The journal had already written about and we talked on the program that the democratic primary between carolyn and saraj patel in new york hasnt been decided yet. Saraj patel joined lawsuit with democrats charging Voter Suppression and had to do with like mailin ballots, not mailin ballots. Preaddressed envelope sent to people so they dont have dates stamped on them and thats what the lawsuit alleges. This is a perfectly legitimate issue that needs to be addressed and now the wall street journal does add if President Trump keeps using the word rig, he should just reconsider participation that if you think that it is rigged and let somebody else run who isnt looking for an excuse if youre defeated. Maria yeah. I think that was so spoton yesterday when you said lets ignore it. I think the tweet came out, dagen, 15 minutes after we got the news that we had the worst contraction we have seen in some time, 32 contraction in the Second Quarter. Brian, what do you think . Brian look, the underlying issue here to dagens point is so important. You know, this is the way that the president raises big issues but im glad he did it. You have the timing of elections, thats one thing but you have the integrity of elections and can you get a result and can we trust a result and mailin voting, look, its been bipartisan basis that people have recognized, mailin voting has problems and right now the Democraticled Congr
