Breaks news overnight, communist country passing Controversial National security law to take more control over hong kong and strip the city of any freedoms, the move coming one day ahead of 23rd anniversary of hong kong being handed back to china. A day historically marked with prodemocracy protests, joining me right now fox news senior strategic analyst general jack keane, general, great to see you this morning, thanks so much for being here. Jack good morning, maria. Maria tomorrow is a big day, anniversary of handover hong kong to china. A couple of decades until the 5 years is up, but china has been moving aggressively on hong kong and latest law obviously anticipating that we will see people on the streets for the hand other handover anniversary tomorrow. President xi is fed up with the protests hes watched over the year. He knows hong kong has enjoyed the rule of law and taken all that away from them. That is fundamentally what hes imposing here. Law forbids subversion, foreign interference from anybody which means they can charge any foreigner with anything they want which would mean deportation and you see what has happened inside of china, thrown out most of the American Media that was there. Also Business People who are foreigners are not in compliance and he will throw them out as well and already we know that some of the leaders of the prodemocracy movement has disbanded their organization because they know this law is not going to impose the limits of 5 or 10 years imprisonment, this would be lifetime imprisonment and some will go away as they already have, so he is imposing the beginning and end of hong kong as we know it. Maria yeah, thats what the young people in the streets are worried about. They are seeing their future, very different future than they expected. I want to understand if the world is recognizing this and banning together against this abuse. India banned nearly 60 chinese mobile app applications including social media applications tik tok, wechat, these are popular with young people and they are citing National Security and following violent fighting along disputed indiachina border. What china basically did, general, as you know invade india so they are using this pandemic to gain more territory. Whats your take on the National Security risks around tik tok and wechat . Jack whats happening with india with the apps is something that we have seen and so has western europe, how the chinese are sweeping user data that many 50 of indian people are using and now the Indian Government has evidence of all of that and this is really the foretell of why we are so concerned about 5g and hauwei and the dominant still achieved that they are able to do that. The United States brought in 2g, 3g and 4g and the communist Chinese Party wants to have 5g, theyve got the technology for it and they will have unbelievable amount of intellectual property at and particular country secrets they have no business having, why do they want, influence and control and geopolitical dominance. Thats what its all about in emerging nations, how they create debt and gain control of Energy Infrastructure and actually some territory. You mentioned india, this is all about keeping the distraction away from the people in Mainland China that somehow china has been responsible for the world pandemic, the country are accusing them of and what they are emphasizing are security concerns that they have on their border with india that they initiated themselves but, of course, they are not telling the people that. Maria and whether or not that data goes back and in some way helps the military, youve spoken on this program in the past about how the Chinese Military is the fastersgrowing military in the world. Isnt that the priority for the communist party . Jack well, their priority is economic dominance, geo political influence and control and using the military and major cyber offensive systems to to use that as influence to achieve dominance. They dont want a war but they believe they can achieve regional dominance and global dominance without having to fight a major conflict. Thats the strategy they believe they have. Now, if they had to fight a war they would, but they know if they got into a conflict with the United States, they know that president pis, all of his objectives that he has under the socalled china dream which is global dominance and regional dominance, those things would go out the window if he has to fight a major conflict with a super power like the United States. They dont want that. All the things that we have been talking about for years now is all about achieving geopolitical dominance. Maria exactly. The number 1 super power militarily as well as economically. Real quick on russia front, ap reporting that white house top officials knew about american bounties a year earlier than originally reported. Democrats will be briefed by the white house this morning following yesterdays briefing with republican lawmakers. Whats your take on this . Jack well, i think the fact that the intelligence was not verified, it didnt have consensus in the intelligence communities theres got to be a reason why the National Security team was not aroused by this because they knew there were other intelligent agencies that were discounting it. This is normal business in the intelligence world. It happens every day, every week in terms of what is the level of intelligent verification, is it low, medium or high, i believe the issue is less about the president and more about the system and the National Security team discounted it because i believe they came to a conclusion that they didnt have verifyiable information now should the president had been told that we had something possible bounty on american soldiers, yeah, someone should have whispered in his ears but we havent verified it. Maria general, we will be watching the briefing today, of course, and the impact. Great to speak with you, sir, thank you. Jack good talking to you, maria. Maria general jack keane, we have a big program coming up. Nest hour the war on wall street, what top strategist are navigating your money and how they are doing and secretary alex azar here on latest coronavirus surge and surge for vaccine this morning. In 8 00 a. M. Hour Trump Organization Vice President donald trump, jr. , joining me to talk coronavirus, social media crackdowns, the 2020 race and a whole lot more. Its all coming up right here. But first, later this hour ceo Michael Wolff will be here talking about the covid19 agenda for big technology, firm out with new tech report and cheers to your health. A new study on alcohol intake making a buzz this morning. Much more ahead right here. Mornings with maria is live on fox business. Maria welcome back, lets take a look at markets, dow industrials down 66, but the nasdaq is up 5 and the s p down about 4 points. We are wrapping up the Second Quarter here, the final trading day. A volatile month for investors but this is the best quarter in about 20 years, markets rallied yesterday led by boeing. The dow turning positive for the month climbing 2 , also record jump and as you see yesterday dow industrials up 188 points and s p was up 44. Joining us Montgomery Scott chief investment strategist, mark, always great to see you, thank you so much for joining us. Let me ask you first to assess the first half of the year and tell us what youre looking for the second half as we wrap up the Second Quarter here today. Obviously the best of both worlds in a sense of having had a dramatic decline in the First Quarter followed by an equally dramatic recovery and so we are sitting here now, you know, going to second half of this year that we are at a price point called around 30,000 and 50 on the s p 500, imagine if we were sitting here today from the february 19th high of 3399 and you say, well, we had normal correction all else being equal and things decent, instead we know what we have been through. The second half, i think, is going to be one where we probably venture more sideways than we do eventually in month or two as we try to digest a couple of things. One swift rebound in Economic Activity which has been nothing short of spectacular but we will begin decelerate, still positive but we cant keep beating expectations. We know cons census analyst views how economic recovery will unfold will eventually catch up to Economic Data and in addition to that we are obviously moving into july here which will mark 4 months before the president ial election and i think the rhetoric around that is likely to heat up somewhat and we still dont know for certain when or if we are going to get the proper therapeutic response to resolve the Coronavirus Spread and obviously thats wreaking havoc with case counts and whether that can rescind the economy thats underway. Maria i want to ask you about the monthly jobs report which is out this thursday. First let me bring in Jon Hilsenrath, go ahead, jon. Jon i wanted to just throw out two cheers for the market itself. You know, a lot of people say the market is insufficient, it doesnt see whats coming next. The market sniffed out downturn in midfebruary before anyone saw it and also peaked back it didnt peak but new high in early june and off since then. It was over 27,000 in in early june. Mark, what i want to ask you what is this drop that weve seen in the month of june telling you about what the second half of the year is going to look like . Jon, good question. It started to move off those march 23rd lows indicating which is typical about a fourmonth advance in terms of when the recession was likely to end so that would have suggested that we see the end of this recession sometime around probably august or so this year, given the economic rebound we have seen so far theres some vindication in that view. The decline that we have seen now from the june 8th high of 3200 or so in the s p 500 is also suggesting perhaps that this pace of economic rebound is likely to shallow out a little as we go forward. Youre already starting to see some economically states like texas and florida begin to roll back some of the reopening measures, some of the relaxation of the mitigation protocols and that could weigh on investor and business sentiments, so i think what we are seeing is that the ricochet rebound, while legitimate in economic recovery so far is going to go showme state, show Economic Data to catch up where the market is priced currently. Maria mark, good to see you so much. Mark luschin, mayor de blasios plan to Defund Police department to a tune of 1 billion as violent sweeps the city. We will take a look after this. Maria welcome back, calls to defund the police are coming to action. Mayor bill de blasio announced plan to cut Police Funding by 1 billion, the mayor spoke out yesterday, listen. We have a plan that can achieve real reform, real distribution at the same time ensure that we keep our cities safe, we make sure that our officers are on patrol where we need them around the city. Maria this coming as new york city is seeing uptick in violent crimes, take a look at the numbers, 59 shootings are reported in the city just last week compared to 26 during the same period last year. 19yearold woman was shot and killed steps away from where amazon Ceo Jeff Bezos owns an apartment, thats near Madison Square park. Joseph pinion, let me get your take on, this this has only gotten worse in the past 2 years, first bail reform which allowed all of the inmates and criminals out on the streets, that took crime up and now defunding of the police, you to believe it only gets worse.
