Energy sector . Will the Big Government takeover of that chaotic policies there, that would ruin, would undercut a u. S. Oil boom that cushioned the slow . Its a boom that also stopped the u. S. From tipping over to a recession. To the New York Times on notice, another black eye, forced to correct a Brett Kavanaugh so called bombshell that was anything but, after it was revealed these New York Times reporters omitted, left out significant facts that undercut their story. A story that even the Washington Post passed on because it was so thin. The conservative media calling this another dishonest story, one of the worst of mal practice they have ever seen. Is it time to sharply curtail the fisa court given how it was easily politicized under the Obama Administration to spy on the political opposition, the Trump Campaign . A top Law Enforcement official with us tonight. And a danger for the u. S. , how we would never ever let these happen and how we would never have known about it if hillary had won. Im elizabeth mcdonald. The evening edit starts right now. Elizabeth welcome to the show. You are watching the fox business network. Lets get the latest on the Saudi Arabia Oil attack. We have the angles covered for you. Edward lawrence at the white house. Deidre bolton is on the floor of the nyse. This attack on the saudi Oil Infrastructure, likely by the iranians. The houthis have claimed responsibility but a senator says that group lacks sophistication in order to carry out this mission. My hope is that the president will consult with his generals, his diplomats, advisors, will look hard at the intelligence. Iran is one of the most dangerous state sponsors of terrorism. This may well be the thing that calls for military action against iran, if thats what the intelligence supports this could be the thing that calls for military action against iran. The u. S. Releasing Satellite Photos that Officials Say suggest the attack came from the direction of iraq or iran. The iranians deny responsibility but the u. S. Is still focusing on the country. Im not looking at options right now. We want to find definitively who did this. Were dealing with saudi arabia. Were dealing with the crown prince and so many other of your neighbors and were all talking about it together. We will see what happens. We must all be clear eyed about this event. A direct assault on the world energy supply. Claims of responsibility have been made, but as secretary of state mike pompeo has clearly stated, there is no evidence that the attacks came from yemen. Emerging information indicates that responsibility lies with iran. The Iranian Foreign minister tweeting out this saying having failed at max pressure, secretary pompeo is turning to max defeat, u. S. And its clients are stuck in yemen because of illusion that weapon superiority will lead to military victory. Blaming iran wont end the disaster. The situation between iran and the u. S. Has been escalating for the last month or so. Next week the iranian president will be here in washington, here in new york for the general assembly, u. N. General assembly. Now, the president saying that he would be open to meeting with the iranians, but Iranian State tv says the government says no, they will not meet with the president of the United States next week. Although President Trump says if there were to be a meeting, there would have to be no preconditions to that meeting. Back to you. Elizabeth edward lawrence, at the white house. Thank you very much. This was the worst hit to Global Oil Supplies since the first gulf war. It is the biggest sudden disruption of Global Oil Supply ever, topping saddam husseins 1990 invasion of kuwait. Now, brent crude spiking as much as 15 . A footnote, wti oil has traded in a 50 to 65 range all year. With more on that and the impact on your money, weve got Deirdre Bolton at the new york stock exchange. Stocks closed lower across the board, the dow at its down 160 points, closing off its session lows but you still had stocks like goldman sachs, 3m, home depot accounting for about 60 those of points. Looking at the s p 500, 10 out of 11 groups closed lower. Real estate materials and Consumer Discretionary were the weakest links. Transportation stocks down the most. This is of course as oil saw its biggest percentage point rally, biggest oneday gain in about ten years. And of course investors worried about the effects of sustained Higher Energy prices could have on stocks. So you saw airlines, jetblue, american, united all lower. Cruise Ship Companies down as well, including carnival and norwegian. Those were the big moves. Liz . Elizabeth thank you, deirdre at the big board. This news just crossing we work will delay its up coming ipo till october. A lot of questions about the ipo of we work. Thats according to dow jones. President trump says this about the saudi oil attack earlier, just this afternoon actually. But i will tell you that was a very large attack, and it could be met with an attack many many times larger, very easily by our country. Elizabeth heres a question weve been talking about, should the Trump Administration use a u. N. General assembly which opens in new york tomorrow to marshal a Global Response against iran . However they might disapprove of President Trump, this does endanger the global economy. Joining me now is fox news senior strategic analyst, retired lieutenant jen jack keane. General jack keane. Great to have you on, sir. What do you think . First of all, the iranians have been back on their heels now throughout this entire crisis in a way i have never seen because everything they have done has backfired. They have sieged and sabotaged tankers, put pressure on the United States to reduce sanctions we increase sanctions. They blackmail to try to get economic relife but violating relief by violating restrictions on the nuclear deal. 5 of the World Economy impacted with this. What do we do about this . Well, first of all, i think this administration will try to politically, economically and diplomatically isolate the iranians as a result of this. Thats the first step, and i think the means to do is as you suggest, i would start with the u. N. Security Council Emergency session, once we have all the evidence, go in there ourselves as one of the five members, bring the saudis in as a guest, and together make a presentation on how the iranians are complicit in this attack. And then follow it up the next week when all the president s are in town, further demonstrating what the iranians have done and get Major InternationalCommunity Support to counter the iranians and support the United States and our allies which is in support of a stable World Economy. This is a huge opportunity that the iranians have given us, and likely there will be some kind of retaliation because the saudis will drive it. They cant stand still if somebody tries to destroy their oil fields and their single commodity economy. That will take place, and we will likely assist them in some degree. Elizabeth thats the question. Satellite photos released by the u. S. Government shows at least 17 points of impact. Officials indicated the attack came from the direction of iran or iraq. What would the reaction be . Because u. S. Intelligence have mapped the precise locations of iranian bases and commanders in yemen and the middle east. So what do you think the shape of that response would look like . Well, first of all, its the saudis call, and i think they will want to retaliate. I think well help them with intelligence. I think the israelis will help them with the intelligence. Israelis know a lot about whats going on with iranians. They struck into iraq, the israelis just over a week ago because they thought the iranians were going to attack israel. They will also assist them with planning. When it comes to the actual strikes themselves, whether we participate or not depends on a number of targets and what kind of means the saudis have. What type of targets are we talking about . The military targets would likely be the origins of the delivery means, the bases, the missile sites, etc. , the commandandcontrol that launched the attack. Those are military targets or facsimiles of them, something thats close by if the primary target has Collateral Damage around it in terms of civilians that may get in the way. Secondly, i think there has to be an economic price paid. Much as in the late 80s when reagan attacked the irgcs navy bases from which an attack was launched against us, but also attacked the Oil Production in one of their ail fields. I think that is likely to take place here as well. Either their production distribution, storage, or refineries. Some kind of economic price must be paid in addition to pushing back on the military targets themselves. Elizabeth quick final question, what was your reaction to saudi arabias Defense System of its Oil Infrastructure here . Its been attacked before, 2006, al qaeda tried to use suicide bombers, and this was the secon oil company. It happened in mid august. Your take here . This is the saudi air Defense System here from all accounts failed miserably, and theyve got to stitch together in terms of an autopsy what happened, why did it happen, and what kind of assistance do they need in terms of target acquisition, better commandandcontrol, air defense missiles themselves that they may not have now. And thats something thats got to be done rather quickly because the iranians obviously have the means to conduct a Second Attack and get the same kind of results given this position of the Defense Systems. Thats a major issue thats got to be solved. Elizabeth we always appreciate you coming on, general jack keane. Thank you very much. Good talking to you. Elizabeth same here. Why a strike of Oil Production in saudi arabia and a labor strike on a major american carmaker, that being gm might just show how resilient our u. S. Economy actually is . That debate coming up. And to the New York Times, another black eye forced to correct a Bret Kavanaugh so called bombshell that was anything but, after it was revealed the New York Times reporters omitted significant facts that undercut the story. It was a story that even the Washington Post passed on because it was so thinly sourced. Conservative media calls this one of the worst cases of journalistic mal practice they have ever seen. That story coming up. I think the New York Times made another terrible mistake. It is a shame that a thing like that could happen. I see they are making a big correction today. They have Just Announced theres a correction, but to do that about a Supreme Court justice is a terrible thing. But allstate actually helps you drive safely. With drivewise. Grady trimble is live from detroit. Grady . Liz, the picketers still going strong at this hour. This evening, while negotiations are happening just a few miles from here at gms headquarters. As of right now, those are happening behind closed doors, so we cant say for sure whats going on, but a source close to the negotiations says a key Sticking Point is mexico. Gm has a big footprint in mexico, largest out of the detroit three our source tells us and so far is refusing to budge and bring any of those jobs back here. That very topic is something President Trump hit on earlier today. Hopefully they will be able to work out the gm strike quickly. We dont want gm building plants outside of this country. And were very strong on that. The uaw has been very good to me. The members have been very good from the standpoint of voting. The relationship is good. If you talked to workers here as we have all day, one of the things they will point out to you is this comes at a time when gm over the last few years is posting record profits, including almost 12 billion dollars in 2018. They say that theres more of that that should be available to us. They point to higher wages Better Benefits and job security as a reason they are picketing. Ai talked to a man who specifically brought up mexico, a new version of the chevy blazer is being made there and it just as easily could be made here. More specifically with gm to build the blazer in mexico when it could have easily built it [inaudible]. The issue is they are building it in mexico and shipping it [inaudible] here. For its part gm says it put forward a fair offer over the weekend which included billions of dollars in investment in the u. S. As well as about 5400 additional jobs. As for the end of this thing, it doesnt seem like it is going to be ending any time soon. If theres any indication, theres a deejay booth set up here to entertain the picketers as they go. This thing could at least last well into the night and maybe into the week. Elizabeth great report. Gms stock price sticking around 37 level since 2007. Lets consider everything going on here. Oil spikes after a historic drone strike. A major labor strike at gm. Both again fuelling talks of recession. Democrats talking about that now. The media talking about that now. But is this time different . Lets bring in mark vitner, senior economist with wells fargo to break it all down. Great to see you, mark. You are always terrific at this. Is it different now . Gosh, that phrase is the most dangerous thing ever uttered because it always comes back and bites you. There are a lot of things that are different in the economy today. For one, were a major energy producer. What we dont produce here in america its produced in north america, so were not immune to the price swings from supply disruptions, like what we saw in saudi arabia and certainly higher prices will take away some of the spending power that consumers have enjoyed over the last couple of years, but i dont think its an imminent threat to the economy. As for the gm strike, thats one of the things that tends to come about when the economy is running a little hot. Its a very difficult situation, though, for gm because the workers have chosen the time they are going on strike is kind of the High Water Mark for gms profitability, but its a very cyclical business. And a lot of those profits are earned in china and sales are headed south. Elizabeth thats an important point. The last time they had a big strike like this in 98, it knocked one percentage point off of gdp. We will be watching that strike, but heres the thing. I want to get back to oil. I think that we have seen Oil Price Spikes prestage practically every recession. We saw this in past middle east conflicts. In 1973, gas lines, under nixon, the iranian war in 1979, the iraq invasion of kuwait in 1990, we saw recessions afterwards. I mean, so thats the thing. Heres how its different. The u. S. Oil boom has really cushioned this, and there are 3 billion barrels of oil in reserve around the world, including that includes the 727 million the u. S. Has under reserves so it is different now; right . Thats a key difference from what we saw in earlier periods. We would still get some sort of a risk premium that would come into the price of oil, and the markets are trying to price that a little bit today because we dont know whats coming. We dont know if theres going to be a retaliatory strike against iran and maybe if iran where it would be and whether they would attack again, and so that we might see more damage to oil supplies and energy infrastructure. But the worlds in a much better place right now. And the increase in u. S. Oil output which were on pace right now to increase by another Million Barrels a day, not by the end of this year, but by early next year, so were our Oil Productions continue to go up. That will help offset some of those uncertainties. Elizabeth whats going on right now, with oil strike in saudi arabia, will this undercut the democrats 2020 push to get rid of fossil fuels half of the oil goes to the west coast including california and they are already seeing gas prices go up. Will that undercut their policies and their thinking in how they are going to win the white house . Well, it may in reality, but i dont think youre going to hear it from them. I mean, i think that theres a when youre in the primary season, youre really competing for the its a competition of ideas, not really something thats grounded in reality. So i dont know that you are going to hear that and say well, gosh, were going to have to think harder about this Green New Deal because we really do need oil. I think that was true before this, and its true now, but i dont think you are going to hear that from any of the candidates. Elizabeth also you have the Federal Reserve possibly cutting rates again. That will help the economy. Mark, great to see you. Come back soon. Love having you on. Great to be with you. Elizabeth same here. We have our eyes on several other stories. I mean, theyre destroying lives, and its fake news. Elizabeth that was President Trump unloading on the New York Times after it was forced to correct a so called Brett Kavanaugh bombshell about a thinly sourced new Sexual Misconduct allegations. The reporters left out exonerating evidence including that the alleged victim didnt recall the incident and refused to be interviewed for their story. And even though these same reporters put all that exonerating evidence in their new book. Lets bring in wall street journal editorial page writer jillian melcher. Great to see you. Good to see you. Elizabeth how bad is this from the New York Times . This is really bad. This is like journalism 101. If you complete your basic level class, you dont do this. I think what we have going on here is the left and their allies in the media are engaged in the politics of personal destruction. They dont like this guys ideas so they are going after him personally. I think they have let their bias get ahead of them on this. Unfortunately, it is leading to some really bad journalism, and i think the really gross thing is this undermines the credibility of journalists as a whole. People look at this and hate the media. Elizabeth the Washington Post passed on this story because of thin evidence. The times left out again the same exonerating evidence from a second article about 2020 democrats demanding kavanaugh being impeached, those democrats harris, warren, sanders and more. They did it again. Look at the file on this. I think you have politicians saying you have to impeach kavanaugh. The goal here is they dont like the idea. They dont like the idea that conservatives may have a strong play on the Supreme Court. So they are trying to go after the legitimacy of the people. These ugly politics are exactly what people get turned off on when they see democrats doing this. Elizabeth lets show the problems with the New York Times story. It didnt report that the alleged victim refused to be interviewed, had no memory of the alleged incident. Lets show that full screen of the problems with the story. It didnt report that several friends of the victim alleged victim said she didnt recall it. They didnt report that their own book said the person in question denied any knowledge of it. And the times did not report that its only witness was a democrat attorney, max steer who was a defense attorney for bill clinton during the white water probe, paula jones probe and did work for hillary. This is pretty shoddy reporting. It is appalling that not only did the journalists write this but this got through editors and got through legal review presumably. Theres several people who should have had to sign on this and push a little more and they didnt. It shows troubling lack of judgment. Elizabeth one democrat attorney was the source of this. Joe scar burrough of of msnbc blasting New York Times. Why was this blare og mission in the New York Times blaring omission in the New York Times . They were saying she had no recollection of this happening and her friends were saying the same thing. I could not believe the New York Times would write this piece without that information contained in it. Elizabeth whats going on with the times . This is journalist mal practice. I think they have let their political agenda get ahead of their reporting. That core mission is to tell the story, look at the facts. They want to craft a narrative about the Trump Administration. This is politics getting before journalism. If you want to be involved in politics, be involved in politics but dont call it journalism. You are great, gillian. Come back soon. Thank you. We have new sound from an antitrump democrat who said quote everyone agrees we need to secure the border, but he said that when obama was in office. And weve got a member of the squad who admits that shes purposely compared border detention facilities to african slave camps. Why . Because quote people seem to want controversy. It is in rio rancho new mexico. The president looking to pull an upset in new mexico for 2020 after that state went to Hilary Clinton by over 8 percentage points. The Trump Campaign says new mexico, nevada, new hampshire, minnesota, all on the short list of states that trump lost in 2016. Hes looking to win them in 2020. Lets get to Fox News White House correspondent kevin cork. Hes at the event. Kevin . Great to be with you. Youre right. It will certainly be a coup to wrestle new mexico from the democrats, win column in the general election for the First Time Since 2004, but to do so, the campaign certainly acknowledges that they have to make sure their economic, immigration and Energy Policy really delivers for new mexico. You mentioned the president is on his way west. He said this on social media before leaving saying big crowd expected in new mexico tonight where we will win all caps. The border wall is getting stronger each and every day. See you in a few hours. That ahead of his departure in washington. He mentioned in a tweet the border wall and believe it or not, among the president s hispanic and latino backers here in new mexico, Border Security is major reason for their support. Heres the question, liz, is new mexico really in play . Well, the Trump Campaign certainly thinks so. You mentioned the president lost new mexico to Hilary Clinton, by about 8 points in 2016. But he did win 19 of the states 33 counties. In fact, he only lost Sandoval County where we are tonight by 1800 votes in 2016. It is clear the idea is simple, prove to them that he has the right policies to deliver for them and beat back this idea that you have to vote for the democrats just because your dad did or your grand father did. Thats what we heard some of the folks here say as we talked to some of the people filing in. Again 7,000 here at the arena. We will see if its a full house. Back to you. Elizabeth looks pretty crowded to me right now. Thanks for your reporting. You bet. Elizabeth eatless take you to the border lets take you to the border. Illegal immigrant hearings begin in tent style facilities now at the border, all part of a new sweeping push to stop the equivalent of a population thats say bloomington, illinois, from trying to cross the border every month or a boston, massachusetts, every year. Lets bring in a sheriff. Great to see you, sheriff. Good to see you. Honor to be with you. Elizabeth same here. The comparison i just made, thats going on at the border, but the New York Times rupps a story this weekend runs a story this weekend about the morale crisis in border patrol, quote people actively hate us, call a sellout and kid hater. Your take on all of that . I think thats going on. There is divisiveness down there. Encourage our border patrol. They are standing between good and efl every day evil every day. We need to support them. They need to hear it from the rank and file of the american people. Some of that stuff is going on. Elizabeth lets go to 2020 democrat Julian Castro. Hes been blasting the president about the border. But Julian Castro sounded just like President Trump back in 2013. Listen to this. The extreme i would say to fill that out would be open borders. Nobody agrees with open borders. Everybody agrees we need to secure our border. Elizabeth your reaction to that . Well, he is flipflopping and doing a triple flip. Not only wants open borders, he wants to give them medical and Free Education what hes doing is playing politics with the security of this country, and i think he needs to be ashamed of himself, and i find that very dishonorable in this fight for our freedom. Elizabeth i hear what you are saying. Heres democrat progressive ilhan omar admitting that she compared detention facilities to african slave camps because, quote, people seem to want controversy. Watch this. Only controversial because people seem to want controversy. What i talked about at our panel that was the plight of black immigrants was about the experience i was having as i went through the dungeons. There were stories that were being told. I talked about how at that moment i had an image of whats happening in libya as people are being sold. Weve all seen that video, that auction of somebody being sold for 400. Elizabeth i dont think she sees the controversy in her comparison there. I think thats what she was trying to relay. She sits on the house foreign affairs. Whats your reaction to all of this . Well, i think its sad that she looks at it like that because its so disgusting that she tried to compare those two, to that horrible event of slavery versus us trying to secure the border and protect some people that are coming over. I mean, some of these people are being protected from each other. And she is causing controversy and divisiveness instead of what is reality and going to the extreme left. Elizabeth thank you, sheriff, we appreciate you coming on, sir. Good to see you. Good to see you. Elizabeth same here. Next up, the debate over the fisa court. Powerful lawmakers now asking if its time to sharply curtail the fisa court, given how that fisa court can be easily abused and politicized to spy on political opposition campaigns, like the Trump Campaign. Elizabeth breaking news, President Trump just tweeting this, quote, i call for the resignation of everybody at the New York Times involved in the kavanaugh smear story and while you are at it, the russian witch hunt hoax which is just a phony. As phony rather. They have taken the old gray lady and broken her down, destroyed her virtue and ruined her reputation. She can never recover and will never return to greatness under current management. The times is dead. Long live the New York Times. That was President Trump a moment ago tweeting. Lets get to the next story. Pelosi out with a new strategy to win the white house as the democrats going into 2020 empty handed, no new policies. Here it is, pelosis new fall push, a media blitz to attack and shame and blame Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell for their policy failures. Joining me now is republican colorado congressman ken buck. Congressman, great to see you. How is this going to work . Blame mitch even when a democrat says the impeachment push is taking the air out of getting anything done. I dont think blaming mcconnell is going to work at all. Donald trump has been responsible for the greatest economic boom in the country for a long time. If you are going to deal with trying to beat him in office, you better deal with his policies. Elizabeth couldnt this backfire . Mitch mcconnell could turn it around on pelosi point out all the bad legislation that the democrats wanted that would hurt the country . The house has done absolutely nothing to help this country move forward. All they have tried to do is distract the country with needless hearings that have actually turned out to be create sympathy for the president. So she has no legs to stand on in attacking the senate at all. Elizabeth it just puts the focus on the do nothing democrats, not legislating, not negotiating, not dealmaking, not doing any bipartisan leg work whatsoever. It is all attacks all the time. Thats what you are saying. Heres what else is going on even cnn Brian Stelter criticized the democrats saying the president is winning the messaging war on impeachment. Lets watch this President Trump is winning the messaging war about impeachment. Democrats are losing. And the democrats are under increasing pressure including from members of the media to explain their mixed messaging and their failure to communicate. Elizabeth your reaction, sir . We have a problem at the border. We have a problem with opioids. We have a number of issues that we need to deal with. We now have an International Crisis in the middle east. It is time to focus our attention on solving problems and not creating problems with this phony story about russia. Elizabeth so, you know, heres the other thing thats going on. You have all of this, but you still have Jerry Nadler Judiciary Committee now in a big fight with the Justice Department. The Justice Department is now fighting to block Jerry NadlersJudiciary Committee. Jerry nadler and the democrats want secret grand jury material from the mueller probe. Thats where the focus is. You are on that committee. Whats going on . Im on the committee. What the chairman of the committee is asking for would create a violation of the law by the department of justice. He cant get grand jury material and other material that relates to ongoing investigations. It is time to move on. We have a number of issues in front of the Judiciary Committee that would be worthy of solving if the chairman would focus on those things. Elizabeth congressman buck, thank you for joining us tonight. Good to see you. Thank you. Elizabeth next up the fight over the powerful fisa court. That court now has powerful lawmakers ask if it is time to sharply curtail the fisa court . We debate how that court could be easily abused and politicized to spy on political opposition campaigns like the Trump Campaign . Comey leaks and he lied. He lied in front of congress. He was one testimony, classified information. Elizabeth good show tonight, guys. They guarantee your rates wont go up just because of an accident. Smart kid. Indeed. Are you in good hands . Performance comes in lots of flavors. dramatic orchestra theres the ampedup, overtuned, feedingfrenzyof sheetmetalkind. And then theres performance that just leaves you feeling better as a result. Thats the kind lincolns about. Our because of smoking. Ital. But we still had to have a cigarette. I knew about the tremors. But when i started seeing things, i didnt know what was happening. He said i have got to make sure americans rights are protected. It looks like the fisa court was taken advantage of. Information was put in front of the court that should never have been there. It wasnt vetted out properly. Its dishonest to the fisa court and dishonest to the american people. Liz its basically much easier to get a firessa warrant to wire to get a files fa warrants to get a fisa warrant than a criminal warrant. There are no checks and balances here. We dont want to turn into east germany here. Thats the problem. I dont think we are east germany. And the fisa court is important to keeping this country safe. What we have had in the past, the fbi has always been about its word. We had a couple people that strayed from the normal operations. The men and women of the fbi are not representative of what we saw from these individuals. Hopefully thats part of the correction we are seeing. But they want to put other things in place in the fisa court to make sure it never happens again. Liz its basically used to against foreign governments. Once you show a person is an agent of a foreign power you can wiretap all devices. What is the proof that carter page was an agent of a foreign power . What is the justification to get these warrants . Isnt that what the american seem should see . I am very interested to see what comes out in the ig report. Whatever information that was submitted was incorrect. I submitted things to the fisa court and just getting through the processes at fbi headquarters can be a challenge because they want to insure we are being honest and correct. You had a case being run from the top echelon in the fbi. There were no checks along the way. Why not put lower level gf13s on the trail. Why have managers like james comey why do they put the top echelon of those guys in the d. C. Office and not the regular gs13. Democrats would be equally as angry if republicans did this to a democrat campaign. And we would not have known this went on if hillary had won. Cases are never worked by the top echelon. Liz sorry, we had to wrap it. I went too long. Lou dobbs is next. Lou good evening. The vile conduct and rhetoric of the radical dimms seems to be unlimited. They cheated hillary clinton, ordered the Justice Department and fbi to cover up her crimes them they deyou need the election with false accusation the of collusion and them denied the mueller report. Now they are trying to after damage Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh with more lies
