To make a difference. Well speak to Indiana Attorney general in the room with the president. Plus super bowl of conservative politics of the annual conservative action political conference better known as cpac. It es underway. President trump will speak to the Conference Tomorrow morning amid a Heated National Debate how best to keep our kids safe in schools. What to expect from the president s speech. Cheryl back to these markets. Another roller coaster ride. There is more green than red when it comes to the dow 30. The dow closing up 163 points and change. 24,961. Interest rate fierce faded somewhat. Gerri willis on floor of new york stock exchange. Finance and Health Caring drag down s p and nasdaq but the dow looking pretty good today, gerri. We saw the dow doing pretty well indeed. Let me tell you why. The that 10year treasury yield hanging steady below the 4year high. 2. 92. People see it as signal of lower inflation. Possibility of fewer rate increases rather than more. Let me tell you what is going on in the dow though. You see 164 point gain. Everything is great. Not for goldman sachs, american express. Those two stocks in the financial sector, loser on the dow on a positive day. We saw the stocks trading lower. See them right here. Chesapeake energy, a big winner. Energy a big winner overall. But Chesapeake Energy could brag having a fabulous quarter, a great numbers out. That stock up 21 . Amazing day for them. I want, we talked about the dow up 164. We talked about the s p up 2 and change here, a 10th of a percent. Nasdaq, fourth down day in a row. The longest losing streak in 15 months. What was leading it lower . Same problem on the dow, financials and also health care. So, very active day on the dow. People down here, watching that 10year yield, religiously trying to make sure well not see inflation or thinking about where those Interest Rates will go in the future. But, watching goldman sachs, that is my advice. Well see where it goes tomorrow. Back to you guys. Cheryl Charlie Gasparino says watch goldman sachs, they will do better more volatility we have. We seem to get that every day. Thank you very much, gerri willis. David. David market volatility not a concern for the chief economist. They are betting on chief economic growth. Take a listen. We project a 3 growth rate Going Forward next several years. Real gdp will be two trillion dollars higher in 2028 because of President Trumps policies. Some quarters we have growth in excess over three are probably very high given the ambitious agenda. David kevin kelly and john tamny. Good to have you both. Kevin, first to you, after reagan tax cuts kicked in the 80s, 1980 we had a growth rate of 4 . 1984 we had growth rate over 7 . Im wondering if the white house economist is too timid . Seems if he it under promising sew an overdeliver. Even during kennedy we saw over 5 gdp prints. First quarter of president barack obama, it was. 6 . First quarter is seasonally weak. Were anticipating five times that rate this quarter. You know why . Leading Economic Indicators here in the United States say so. If you look at durable goods reports, look at pmi reports, whether manufacturing or services, it is showing that this president s agenda and policies are taking hold and will give us north after 3 gdp print. David one exception, john tamny. That is the concern that a lot of people have over his trade policies. Lets remember an economy is individual. Individuals logically grow at rates higher than 3 . So the concern is that is trade. I mean trade is basic as breathing. Our act to divide up work with the world what enables us it specialize to be more productive. If trump moves in continued direction against trade, and that cheapens the dollar, guaranteed those two major blunders will suffocate the good of tax cuts and deregulation. Real quick on trade. I would like to say actually the dollar is down significantly. Trade has gone up. Reason for Inflation Fears is because of retail goods coming in spiked. Cheryl do want to bring up a couple other things, guys, in the markets. Want to get your perspective. S p 500 up 1. 4 this year but that is in large part to just three companies that are responsible for nearly half of that, chief among them what youre looking at, amazon. The Company Accounts for 27 of the s ps gains so far this year. Microsoft contributing 13 of the gains. Netflix with 8 . Amazon also enjoying Third Straight record close in a row but here is the question, is it a good thing that three companies, kevin, are ruling the stock market . One of the things you have to look at is the s p 500 is a market capweighted index. Because these companies are 500 billion or more, theyre actually going to contribute. When you look at company like Chesapeake Energy today, that did exceptionally well, market cap is significantly smaller. Will not contribute as much. You need to figure out why are these companies contributing the most. Theyre competing and dominating on a global stage. They have some of the best management teams. Theyre buying back stock. Adding to dividends. They will do strategic m and a. Dont fix what is not broken. Cheryl you have to worry about particularly netflix, john. Their programing, original content is in tens of millions of dollars. That has been concern from the analyst side. When you have so few Companies Like these making up the bulk of the gains, for the average investor that is a lot of, you know, pieces of the puzzle really three pieces of the puzzle . But i think it speaks to important point made by kevin, where at least with amazon were talking about a very globalized company. And this goes back to the trade argument. If we are not allowing the world to sell to us, we can not sell to the rest of the world. It speaks to how crucial it is to keep these markets open. The most valuable companies in the world are american companies, precisely because we are engaged with the rest of the world. If you shut off the world, you shut down what makes your company is, your country so vibrant. Cheryl john, kevin, load up the netflix que. Theyre a big piece of the story. Thanks, david. David making schools safe again. President trump meeting with state and local officials on school safetity earlier today. One day after holding a listening session at white house for students, teachers, parents, directly affected by School Shootings. Our blake burman live at the white house with the very latest. Blake. Reporter david, meeting yesterday at the white house with those students the President Trump first broached idea having teachers, faculty, staff, within school, adept and expert handling guns having guns inside of schools to be able to protect schools. The president was much firmer in that with listening session among state and local Law Enforcement officials. President suggesting at one point, there should be monetary incentive for those who bring guns into schools. Listen. What i would recommend doing is the people that do carry, we give them a bonus. We give them a little bit of a bonus. So practically for free, you have now made the school into a hardened target. We need to let people know, you come into our schools, youre going to be dead. It will be fast. Reporter president also reiterating he supports advocating raising age of gun purchases to 21 years old. However the white house appeared to shut the door on banning assault weapons. Here was the Principle Deputy press secretary raj shah. Were looking for solutions that, that dont ban a class of firearms for all individual but ban all weapons for certain individuals who are identified as threats to public. Reporter earlier today during that listening session the president seemed very skeptical of active shooter drills, what schools all across this country participate in, practicing in case there is the worst. The president at one point saying he wouldnt even want to have to talk to his own 11yearold son about participating in an active shooter drill. Shah during the press briefing tried to walk that back, frame it as branding issue. Saying the president would rather see it being called a safety drill. David . David there is clearly a lot needs to be done. Blake, thank you very much. Here is curt his till, Indiana Attorney general. He attended meeting with President Trump. Thank you for being here general hill. I want to play for you, sure you heard it yesterday, it was the most dramatic point in yesterdays kind of open meeting that the president had which was about as moving as anything ive seen out of the white house before. Lets play this. This is the parent of a girl that was killed last week in florida. Play the tape. Should have been one School Shooting and we should have fixed it and im pissed because my daughter im not going to see again. If it stops, we all Work Together and come up with the right idea. It is school safety. Not about gun laws right now. That is another fight. Another battle. Fix the schools. You guys can battle it out whatever. David that was more powerful than anything i heard out of the white house it was respectful. People were listening or belittling each others positions or shoutdowns we heard at cn in thing last night. This kind respectful listening paying attention where you really get stuff done, right . My heart goes out to the father and the family. The expression he had was right on. We need to fix the problem. And we need to stop the debates and politicizing and address the issue of what it is going to take to actually keep kids safe as we possibly can. David one of the things thats really bothersome is how many clues were missed. Not openly by the fbi but even by school security. What we heard today i dont think it was, it was known until today, is that the school video system in florida had 20 minute delay on it, which was totally useless when most of the shooting took place in the first ten minutes. Do you know why it was delay, whether other School Systems have the same problem . I wouldnt know why there would be a delay in that particular enplans. Not surprising we have these snafus in intelligence and information. Keep in mind we live in freeest place on earth. Someone may be doing something, could possibly do something, that is very difficult in some cases for Law Enforcement to follow up. That is not just to suggest an excuse but certainly is a potential problem. In indiana we have what we call a law that, red flag law. It allows police to have a belief that someone is dangerous or has a mental illness, perhaps not on their medications and it could be potential threat. Allows the police to take guns in that situation, keeping in mind due process. But without regard to violating any Second Amendment rights. These are types of things we need to move forward on to address these types of situation is who to call about it, a specific idea came out, it is in raw form, the president is criticized, obviously all the details are not figured out yet, but arming certain individuals in the schools who have experience with guns, who could get more training to do so, what do you think of the idea . Who would pay for it . Its a novel approach. One of the concerns that we must have, most educators have, are in that process to teach children. So the concern i have is whether we could have an effective overall policy that would be put in place that would apply to all teachers. But certainly there are some areas wherein teachers might be more adept to that particular issue, being able to be proficient with a gun. The president did say it would be for situations where people were absolutely qualified and capable and adept to that situation. So i think we need quite frankly more comprehensive approach has actual security personnel, Law Enforcement personnel, specifically trained to have the skillset for this type of attack. David details can be worked out. Theyre giving me a wrap. I have to ask one final question. I dont recall a nation as energized and a president as focused on coming to a conclusion as we have now, after these School Shootings. There have been, one School Shooting something too much, but now after all of these that weve had, it looks like, i dont want to be overly optimistic about this, because ive been disappointed in the past, looks like were getting somewhere. Am i wrong . This was not a talk session. This was planned meetings of action. Takes on heels of father from last evening. We need to get something done. This president was very hopeful and i think everyone in the room was encouraged that we have someone who says, lets get this fixed. David cant wait. Curtis hill, Indiana Attorney general. Thank you for being here. Thank you very much. Cheryl interesting. As a spymaster at the olympic games, north korea is sending a hardline general to the closing ceremonies as mike pence is slamming the media for fawning over kim jonguns sister at the games, saying the United States does not stand with murderous dictatorships. Why a former state Department Official who was part of the dossiers handoff to the fbi is now pleading the fifth. Cheryl oops, she did it again. Nancy pelosis new suggestion for border security. Well, victor, do you have something for him . Check this out. Td ameritrade aggregates thousands of earnings estimates into a single data point. That way you can keep your eyes on the big picture. But before you decide, you should know that chevy silverados are the most dependable, longest lasting fullsize pickups on the road. Which means that ford f150s are not. laughs which truck would you pick . The chevy. The chevy. The chevy. There you go. Boom. That was obvious. Plus it looks cooler. No doubt about it. Now they know what to get me. laughs and i recently had hi, ia heart attack. It changed my life. But im a survivor. After my heart attack, my doctor prescribed brilinta. Its for people who have been hospitalized for a heart attack. Brilinta is taken with a lowdose aspirin. No more than 100 milligrams as it affects how well brilinta works. Brilinta helps keep platelets from sticking together and forming a clot. In a clinical study, brilinta worked better than plavix. Brilinta reduced the chance of having another heart attack. Or dying from one. Dont stop taking brilinta without talking to your doctor, since stopping it too soon increases your risk of clots in your stent, heart attack, stroke, and even death. Brilinta may cause bruising or bleeding more easily, or serious, sometimes fatal bleeding. Dont take brilinta if you have bleeding, like stomach ulcers, a history of bleeding in the brain, or severe liver problems. Slow heart rhythm has been reported. Tell your doctor about bleeding new or unexpected shortness of breath any planned surgery, and all medicines you take. If you recently had a heart attack, ask your doctor if brilinta is right for you. My heart is worth brilinta. If you cant afford your medication, astrazeneca may be able to help. David the probe into the antitrump dossier is heating up. Cramer is pleading the fifth refusing to testify before the house intel committee. Cramer was part of the dossier handoff after the 2016 election. Cramer. He was briefed by Christopher Steel, a former british spy. As the special counsel pushes forward with new sealed charges against Paul Manafort and his deputy rick gates. Here is mike baker, former cia operative. Appreciate it. Good to see you, dave. David a lot of people, the bottom line here, a lot of people did not want donald trump to become president. Some were democrats. Some were republicans. Uses power of the government they had access to, to keep donald trump out of the white house. Some of that might have gone over the line, correct . Well i think we have to separate, this where we all disappear down rabbit hole. We have to. David good luck. Yeah, good point. Do we have a couple of hours . David yeah, right. The russians played everybody like they have been took for years. Russian sources involved in the overall covert action campaign. We heard some about now, could be something going on with internet. With the dossier, fed the information to a host of people, who had no incentive to fact check. David right. They had every incentive to believe it was true. Christopher steele who was played like a stooge, took the information. He was getting paid to find leveragable or salacious information. He was pretty happy to have it. He passes it to gps, to fusion, which was also getting paid. They were keen to get it. The dnc david hold on a second, some of Christopher Steeles information came from the hillary camp. That is what were finding now. Not only did it come from his socalled russian contacts but some came directly from hillarys team. After all fusion and he were being paid by the hillary election committee. Right. David my problem here is that mueller is just put out an indictment of these 13 russians, who will never be brought to justice. Theyre in russia and stay there he should be focusing some attention, whether or not people here in the country were using, republicans or democrats, were using their powers of office to keep trump out of the white house . Well, i suspect he is. I suspect that is part of the problem, such a wideranging investigation. Look anytime you do an investigation, parameters need to be very welldefined. Your Playing Field should be fairly narrow so you again just dont disappear and chase every little thread that you find to pull on. So i would actually prefer that that investigation, related to again what happened here in the u. S. In terms of the partisan politics and who was trying to screw who, i would rather see that in separate investigation. Mueller should continue on important issue of what russians were doing to prevent it happening again. David as you point out at the beginning, they were kind of intertwined. We look, for example, look at the cia chief at the time in the obama administration. It was john brennan. He is very political guy. He obviously does not like and did not like donald trump. Was part of that group that was trying to keep him out of the white house, at least through persuasion, if not through something else. Apparently he could have been or could have played a part in what Christopher Steel had. How Christopher Steele was getting the trump dossier out there. Whether to friends of senator mccain or someone else . Everything in this related to the dossier kind of stinks out loud. People should have known bert. As you point out whether john brennan and others who were inclined to do what they could to keep trump from winning or Christopher Steele or fusion gps getting paid for this, everybody had skin in the game. Everybody wanted this to be true. Including all the nevertrumpers and the left. David right. Hoisted steele up as some sort of james bond at the point they thought the dossier was true. Now everybody is ducking and running for cover when it turns out again a lot of people played for stooges by the russians who essentially, they didnt put this dossier together to help trump. They put it together to hurt him. Just like they were trying to hurt hillary, trying to hurt sanders, conversely, try to help them on occasion. This is what you do like lobbiest plays both republicans and democrats, russians play all sides of the game. Because we have plenty of case studies from history this is it what they do and what they have done for generations. David hillary did pay for the trump dossier. We know that is true. But hillary did not win the russians did. I think that is clear from what happened. That much we can say. Mike baker, all grist for your next novel i think, right . Then of course the movie deal. David thats right. Good luck on that. Mike, good to see you. Cheryl it is out there now on national tv. David John Lech Claire was a wrote all the british spy novels. But with opportunity comes risk. And to manage this risk, the world turns to cme group. We help farmers lock in future prices, banks manage Interest Rate changes and airlines hedge fuel costs. All so they can manage their risks and move forward. Its simply a matter of following the signs. They all lead here. Cme group how the world advances. David House Minority leader Nancy Pelosis comments provided republicans with a lot of talking points. Take a listen to some of her greatest hits. The debate on health care is like death, this is arm ma dead done. In terms of the bonus of Corporate America received versus the crumbs that they are giving to workers to kind of put the schmooze on is so pathetic. This is like giving you bowl of doggie do, put a cherry on top, call it a chocolate sundae. This is nothing. David that is pretty good. But now she has taken it further in a comment she made about border security. Take a listen. Lets talk about where more serious structure might be necessary where sensors will do or mowing the grass so people cant be smuggled through the grass. David wow. Is this sound bite well hear most offen from republicans up to the midterm elections . Here is vince coglianese. Is that your favorite, vince . I love nancy pelosi. She is one of the most things least popular in america, the thing she keeps attacking is becoming one of the most popular things in america. People that spend money on republican politics, they love nancy pelosi. Nancy pelosi is one of the signature villains of republican party. For good reason. She says things like that. Simply cutting the grass is solution to a problem that need as wall. Suggest thing people increasingly like, tax reform, taken a 26point swing in the positive direction is something people dislike. David the crumbs comment, this is something, forget the wall, all we have to do is cut the grass, still the crumbs comment plays in couple different directions. It is about a tax cut she said would be armageddon americans kind of like now more and more. It also plays into the fact that 1000 is just crumbs when to a lot of people its about 20 bags of groceries. Of course it plays into the fact she is one of the richest members of congress. Thats right. She cried wolf and we got puppies. She told us it would be terrible. Turns out a lot of people benefited from it. What ended up happening, i talked to people, Business Owners especially, employees approach them, in some case i think i got paid too much this pay period. No you didnt. What happened . Trump. And that conversation has played out in hr departments and offices across america. The message is resonating now. It sounds like majority of americans cording it surveys like tax reform. So i think at some point a democratic strategist will have to get to nancy pelosi tell her, pick a different track because this one is not going to work. David i get the impression, it is kind of hard to tell her anything. She was leader for so long, people that are powerful, very hard to speak truth to power, at least when youre that powerful. School shootings, it is an awful subject, nobody wants to talk politics openly but i know at least it is been discussed behind closed doors by both parties. Im sure democrats thought they could make a political issue about it, but open meetings the president has been having pulled the rug out from under democrats criticism of republicans on that issue. Right. Because unlike in the case of cnn, the white house allowed divergent voices to express opinions in that forum. Ultimately when it comes to the idea of putting cameras in front of survivors, this is why the Supreme Court doesnt have cameras. Deliberations are sincere, careful and take time. As a result when you have people with such raw emotions about political issue like that, sometimes it is important to give them an opportunity to do it in a place where millions of americans are turning it into a spectacle. David why dont we see more of them from the white house . Instead it gives the press a chance to focus on tweets when this form of communication seems much more acceptable by most americans, quickly . I think, here is what i think about the white house. It demonstrated that the president of the United States has a listening mode, despite what his critics say about him. He has sincere interest in hearing with people with divergent viewpoints. You see him agree across the aisle with a range of people. That is important process. Americans deserve to see it when they can. David vince collagnese, thank you very much. Thank you, david. [cheers and applause] and we will keep standing strong until north korea stops threatening our country, our allies, or until they abandon their nuclear and Ballistic Missiles once and for all. Cheryl here is jack keane, retired fourstar general, fox news strategic analyst. General. Good to see you. Cheryl what do you make of this . What is the significance in your opinion of him coming to the closing ceremonies and the meeting . Is this something the u. S. Should be concerned about . No, i dont think we need to be concerned about it. I think were very cleareyed. I know the administration is, about what is taking on place here with north korea. I mean, number one, theyre promoting goodwill. Getting a propaganda gain out of it to be sure. Number two, as to any negotiations that may take place, we recognize that north korea is trying to drive a wedge between ourselves and south korea. That is not going to work. Because President Trump and president moon are sort of joined at hip. Although politically theyre a little different. But nonetheless, when it comes to our policy on north korea, president moon, from south korea, agrees with it. And also, we know that whenever there has been negotiations in the past the reality is north korea has used that to buy time so they can advance their technology. Cheryl that is interesting. What about, lets look past the olympics. Weve been in this tugofwar, pardon the pun, with north korea for months. You know the tensions are rising. Then they back off. We back off. We thought maybe something would happen with the Vice President in south korea. It did not. Do you see this as longer term problem . Oh, i dont see it as longer term problem because the director of the cia told us its a matter of months when north korea will have nuclearized ibm capability. In other words, they testify final phase which is reentry to their satisfaction is in place. Right now we should be pulling out all the stops. Were just months away from a major crisis. Cheryl general i have breaking news on syria i want to ask you about. Were just getting word that the United Nations bid to try to get this 30day ceasefire in syria has been blocked by the russians. This is just crossing. But obviously with the death toll in particular in that suburb of damascus, guta that is troubling news that the russians are blocking any efforts for a ceasefire. We should not be the least surprised by that the russians came in to prop up the assad regime. They and iranians are accomplishing that. The russians are committing war crimes along with assad. Syrian moderates and people built hospitals underneath the ground. The Syrian Air Force has no capability to get to those hospitals. Virtually every single one of those underground hospitals were blown up by russian penetrator bombs. The attack in east ghouta is largely done by russian airplanes. They are focused exclusively on people. They are killing women, children and elderly. The young men are gone Regime Forces so yes, the fact that they dont want a ceasefire, it is not in their interest to have a sais fire. Cheryl 400,000 dead in syria. Cheryl preventing a tragedy, shooting rampage at a Florida High School has people wondering what they can do to prevent some lives being taken . A High School Senior in wisconsin is waiting for a patent on a product he says could save thousands of lives. Justin rivard joins us. Great to have you here. Thanks for having me. Cheryl justin, talk about how you got the idea for what basically is simply to say a door stopper that can prevent a shooter from entering the classroom . So, it all started with our school adopted alice training, protocol for active shooters. And we were taught to barricade the door whatever we have in the room in the worstcase scenario. So we unlocked the door and put the table in front of the door that we had and easily the average sized person could get in. And being in the classroom with a tile floor, regular door stop you see in the office would not hold up against any kind of pressure. So, after that, my shop teacher challenged me to go after and use my skills in the metals area and in welding and make a solution. Cheryl tell me the nail of your product. I want you to say it. The name is just incase. Cheryl i do love that your first customer was your own school. They were so excited about what you created. They ordered several. That was the beginning of this, correct . Yes. The high school ordered, they started the whole process with ordering i think it was 51 for the high school. And that was the first order that i had ever gotten. Cheryl since we had the tragedy, in florida, have you seen more interest in the justin kase . Yes. In crazy amounts of time. In 24 hours, there had been hundreds of emails flooding through our website inquiries how they can get one. How can i purchase one. How much does one cost . All the way from new york to california and everywhere in between. Cheryl what does it cost, justin . The retail cost right now is 95. Cheryl 95, that can save a High School Students life. What do you plan to do . Youre still young. What do you plan to do after this experience and really what seems to be a be is ses for you . What is next for you, justin . Basically right now, what is next, getting out the orders that we have right now and trying to get them out as fast as we can to prevent anything from happening at any school at any given time. And you know, i do have a limited amount of time to help because i enlisted in the army and i am shipping out for basic training july 3rd of this summer. Cheryl youre going into the army. Justin, you are really a true american. Already going to call awe hero because you made something that really could save kids lives. This is obviously top of mind for some of us right now, justin. Cheryl well the conservative Political Action conference is underway in national harbor, maryland. President trump scheduled to make his remarks there tomorrow morning. Joining us live with all the headlines from todays speakers, fox news correspondent peter doocy. Quite a day there, peter. Reporter it is. A lot of talk about gun control. The nra is a big time sponsor of cpac. They have booths and signs just about everywhere they go. The ceo, wayne laperriere was wellreceived with the crowd, essentially announcing that he doesnt have any kind of appetite for a gun control deal with democrats. For them, it is not a safety issue. It is a political issue. They care more about control and more of it. Their goal is to eliminate the Second Amendment and our firearms freedoms so they can eradicate all individual freedoms. Reporter laperriere spent as little time talking about President Trump as any speaker even though the president tweeted just before the laperriere took the stage, that the nra leaders are good people. Maybe the nra does not support what the president wants, raising age to buy a rifle to 21 and ending sale of bump stocks. Based on what Vice President pence says today, those changes are coming soon. Earlier this week President Trump called on congress to strengthen background checks. Two weeks ago he directed the department of justice to expedite the regulation of bump stocks. Later this week when the president meet with the nations governors in our nations capitol well make the safety of our nations schools and our students our top national priority. Reporter not all talk about guns today though. Many of the speakers run through a highlight real of what they see as President Trumps greatest accomplishments, which is different than cpac over the majority of the last decade, most of what they did was beat up on obama.
