racist language. here is the practical question though. does this controversy hurt the chances of the president being able to cut a deal? the clock after all, is ticking. plus, a 20 year old florida millennial winning the $451 million mega millions drawing. the money experts will weigh in on whether he's making the right financial decisions and we do as you've come to expect have an all-star guest line up including americans for tax reform grover norquist, is here tonight presidential historian doug weed as well and current trump national diversity coalition executive director, bruce lavell e all here tonight. we will get to them all it's politics and money and we've got you covered at an angles i'm connell mcshane good to be with you. risk & reward starts right now. >> it's not a daca deal. it's a security immigration deal >> we need a permanent solution. we have said that, i have said that, the president has said that. we want to find a permanent solution to the daca population, not a continual three-year renewal period. >> i'm encouraged first of all we have a bipartisan recommendation, a bipartisan legislation that's been worked out after they set down last week with the president and it seems to do everything that was asked of them. >> we can address the border wall system that the president talks about. we can address this issue of chain migration as the president said and we have done that. we've broken or stopped or put an end to the diversity visa lottery the president asked for that was a bipartisan solution. >> honestly i don't think the democrats want to make a deal. we have a lot of sticking points but they're all democrat stick ing points because we are ready, willing to make a deal but they don't want to. >> all right, the latest on immigration reform in just a moment but first let's talk markets here there's no trading today because the martin luther king day holiday but we checked the dow and stock index futures in general both dow and futures up by 136 points today the question for tomorrow morning, will we hit 26,000 at the open? watch tomorrow morning we may get it right at the open. first though as we were talking about cnbc sleeping today we're live as usual with a big time newsmaker interview to bring you off the top an exclusive one on one with fiat chrysler ceo, he did make some news in that interview. he said the gop tax cuts have given a huge jolt of confidence to the united states. he also said that it's decision to handout bonuses would not be possible without that tax bill and first up the man who conduct ed the interview jeff flock out at the detroit auto show joining us now with another example, jeff of the impact of this tax bill, right? >> that's why i'm glad we're here today and live today because we got to talk to the ce o's about that and i've got breaking news for you, just talked to jim lents, the ceo of toyota who was the first ceo exclusively again on fox business and we'll have him in the next hour if you stay tuned, to put a figure on how many additional car sales he thinks there will be as a result of the tax bill. he says 200,000 additional sales , pretty amazing. as you point out sergio marccion e says because of the tax bill? see those ram trucks over there? the heavy duty version of the ram pick pick ups are coming back from mexico, they're made in mexico will be brought back to the u.s. because of the tax bill in addition marccione also giving a bonus of $2000 to 60,000 employees. everybody but the top executives get a bonus as a result of the tax bill. interesting interview with him on the show floor today. listen. >> the tax reform run in december went a long long way and giving a huge jolt of confidence in this country. i think that tax reform made it unquestionably due know and so it helped the thinking process and i think we removed all of the concerns that we had about when and if to do it so i'm glad we've done it. >> and marchionne saying he's going through with the bonuses even though they also have separate profit-sharing checks they send out to employees and at ford jim hackett is the ceo about the tax bill and the impact it has on the market and while he's not doing any standalone bonuses he does think all of his employees will benefit from tax reform. listen to him. >> last year, we paid a 9,000 dollars bonus to employees who were profit-sharing that way so any kind of effect in tax improvement goes in the profits and then is distributed. >> nothing bigger as a result? >> well i wouldn't say that because some of the tax moves are actually enhancing profits so yeah, employees will see a benefit but there's not a standalone distribution. that doesn't make sense. >> so, interesting to get those perspectives out here on the floor today. this is the first day of the show, an important day. we do happen to be the only business network that's out here live today, so it was actually kind of fun. >> looked like it. worked out made some news great stuff all day long, jeff thank you and jeff's reporting really just adds to the points that our next guest says that a minimum of 2 million american workers are getting special tax reform bonuses and claims the actual number could actually be quite higher because most companies don't do a public announcement and even some that do, it's tough to keep track of all these numbers. on top of all that indiana investment bank ubs is weighing in saying president did deserves "high marks" for his pro-growth policies including the recently- passed tax bill saying it could help to make the u.s. a friendlier place for investors. with us now is grover norquist americans for tax reform president. what do you make of that you b is comment just in general on a friendlier place for investment on top of your point on taxes already? >> well, when the government allows you to expense immediately business investment rather than depreciate over long periods of time all investments are less expensive to make, and then when they let you keep 79% rather than 65% of it by cutting the tax from 35 down to 21, it is both friendlier when you invest and it is friendlier when you make a profit and add that to the deregulation that's been rolling out over the last year and continues and you see a government that's no longer abusive to job creation. >> you know, jeff flock whose on just before you added to that with the auto report, right, about how tax cuts are driving business back to detroit with the sergio marchionne comments and recently the new plants that have been announced and what have you on top of what marchion ne said so it's another business and example so is it possible we debated, grover, these tax cuts so much before they came out especially on the individual side and it was a legitimate debate about state and local, everything that we talked about. is it possible maybe we missed the impact that it's even greater because of what businesses are now doing for individuals? >> well absolutely. look you have to look into several different buckets to see the benefits. first of all for individuals all individuals got lower rates, and middle class person with $70,000 in income saves $2000 less taxes . that's one. more cash flow for the individual. add to that things like these bonuses and pay increases and benefit increases. that's another one. in addition to that, everyone, half the country roughly has a 401 (k), an ira, a defined contribution pension and you're looking at dramatic increases in the amount of people's life savings. that started in the last year as tax reform was coming, and continues now that it's clearer, but then add to that the general growth in the economy. the investment flowing from overseas, not just american-held money but foreign investment going it's a better place to invest in america today than it was two years ago. fair enough grover thanks always good to talk to you sir, grover norquist a much tougher topic at least for president trump who finds himself saying he's not a racist after the reports on his use of racist language at a white house immigration meeting last week. now there are some republicans who have come to the president's defense, watch this. >> are you saying the president did not use the word that has been so widely reported? >> i'm telling you he did not use that word george and i'm telling you it's a gross misrepresentation. it's not the first time senator durbin has done it. >> i don't recall him saying that exact phrase. i think he has been clear and i'd certainly say undoubtedly the president will continue to use strong language when it comes to this issue but he feels very passionate about it. >> i didn't hear it and i was sitting no further away from donald trump than dick durbin was and i know what dick durbin said about the president's repeated statements is incorrect >> so is senator durbin lying? >> senator durbin misrepresented what happened in white house meetings before and corrected biowoman a administration officials by it. >> president trump tweeting late this afternoon saying senator dick durbin totally misrepresented what was said at the daca meeting. deals can't get made when there's new trust. durbin blew daca and is hurting our military. we have our political power panel tonight, danielle mclaughl in is with us as well. curt and i both know because we read our twitter relies in addition to celebrating dr. king 's birthday so happy birthday and perhaps we should let you start this discussion. you know, it seems like if anything this is turning into a blame game now, no matter what was said in the room our fox reporting has been that the president did indeed said what he's accused of saying, he's denied it and you've heard what others have said in his defense but are you concerned with democrats of you head into a government shutdown, they could take the blame for this. always tough to tell how this plays out what do you think? >> i agree. no politician wants to take responsibility for shutting the government down, it will affect millions of people in terms of payroll and many things. they have to be very careful about using the r word here and maybe take some advice from back in 2011 who said stop the attacks whenever are time you do that it's an opportunity. you could be talking about your poll thinks or a way to lead the american people forward especially with 2018 coming so i think it's problematic there's a time and place to talk about this stuff because if it was said this is a real problem and we can see in his history there's a long history of this. >> well i'd also say curt to be fair here, to turn to your side of things, you know, the president and this kind of popped in my head as i was talking to grover norquist about all of the things that have gone well for the economy hurt himself a number of times and this could be used as the most example of one of the times when he gets the momentum going in the direction favorable to him and something like this happens and it's because he made it happen. did he hurt himself and hurt his negotiating position do you think in all this? >> well, i disagree with you connell. i don't think donald trump made this happen. i think dick durbin went and broke the confidence of a private meeting and apparently according to tom cotton made up stories and i will believe army officer tom cotton over dick durbin who called our american military guys back in 2005 compared them to nazis. in any case look, we're defining racism down and that's a tragedy racism is unchristian, unamerican and out right wrong; however when everybody is racist , all the time, then nobody is racist. then you cried wolf and people just aren't going to believe you when there really is a problem. >> i'm trying to get to the practical side as to whether he hurt the negotiating position, you don't think he did a little bit he might have hurt himself in trying to get a deal done because to your point this is not what we're talking about, the merits of immigration are we >> no no no the reason one of the reasons dick durbin revealed this stuff or his people did is because they weren't getting what they wanted. this is an attempt to force trump into accepting a bad daca deal by accusing him of something that's manifest untrue they knew they were not going to get a clean daca bill. they knew donald trump had to come back to his base, people like me, with a wall, with no chain migration, with e-verify with a bunch of other things that made it a compromise that works for all americans not just for the democrats who want to import a new electoral. >> how do you think this plays out danielle? how does it play out maybe by the end of this week? >> i'm hoping not for a shutdown and i think the president was the one that unwound daca in the first place trying to blame democrats for something he fundamentally did in the first place. he went into a meeting with senators on both sides of the aisle and said well whatever happens in this meeting i will accept. i think we need stronger leadership from him. what does he want? it was a bipartisan bill given to him on thursday and on tuesday and by thursday he wanted something more because of the people like steven mueller. >> curt and danielle thanks again happy birthday we appreciate both of you coming on >> happy birthday. so good to be here. >> she said there's no place -- >> i'd rather be it's very true. >> you take that for what it's worth. coming up a 20 year old millennial winning the $451 million mega millions. that's right. we have money experts lined up to help him out on whether he's making the right financial decision. that's still to come but first the republican senator jeff flake now comparing president trump's criticism of the media the comments made by of all people joseph stalin. my next guest says stalin is responsible for the murder of millions of citizens, the comparison and its merits next. we recently had a heart attack. but we are not victims. we are survivors. we are survivors. we are survivors. and now we take brilinta. for people who've been hospitalized for a heart attack. we take brilinta with a baby aspirin. no more than one hundred milligrams... ...as it affects how well brilinta works. brilinta helps keep platelets from sticking together and forming a clot. in a clinical study brilinta worked better than plavix®. brilinta reduced the chance of another heart attack. or dying from one. don't stop taking brilinta without talking to your doctor,... ...since stopping it too soon increases your risk of clots in your stent,... ...heart attack, stroke, and even death. brilinta may cause bruising or bleeding more easily,... ...or serious, sometimes fatal bleeding. don't take brilinta if you have bleeding, like stomach ulcers,... ...a history of bleeding in the brain, or severe liver problems. slow heart rhythm has been reported. tell your doctor about bleeding,... ...new or unexpected shortness of breath, any planned surgery, and all medicines you take. if you recently had a heart attack, ask your doctor about brilinta. my heart is worth brilinta. if you can't afford your medication, astrazeneca... ...may be able to help. >> he borrowed that phrase it was popularized by joseph stalin used by now his well enemy of the people, and it should be noted who followed stalin forbad its use saying it was too loaded that it was a whole group of class of people and it shouldn't be done. i don't think that we should be using a phrase that's been rejected as too loaded by a soviet dictator. >> all right republican senator jeff flake who as i'm sure you know is not exactly a big fan of the president is expected to take to the senate floor on wednesday and reportedly compare mr. trump's criticism of the media to comments made by the soviet dictator joseph stalin, a man responsible for the murder of millions and i'm joined by presidential historian doug weed , and doug your thoughts on even using a comparison like this. >> connell this is outrageous. this is an insult to your intelligence but it's an insult to the millions of people who died at the hands of that man. it's outrageous and i saw another comment comparing him to hitler. both hitler and stalin dominated their governments, they dominat ed the motion picture industry, actress couldn't be in a film without approval of joseph stalin himself who read the scripts of the movies they made in the soviet union. there were no churches in the soviet union but when martin ne mueller in nazi germany preach ed a sergio marccione man they don't like they killed him with a lethal injection so if anybody thinks that donald trump controls the media which stalin and hitler did they're crazy if they think he controls hollywood like hitler did and stalin did they're crazy. >> i think its always been something of a rule of thumb to avoid the hitler comparison it's fair to throw stalin in there as well. the reference you made came at a comment on tighter by another republican a former bush 43 lawyer comparing the president's comments to those hurt in germany in 1933 the year hitler was appointed chancellor was richard painter we'll put it up his tweet saying his kind of rhetoric is the warning sign there's a short time for the warning to be heeded than it happened, germany 1933. so, again -- >> trouble outrageous. you know, i helped get the scholarship for some young african ladies from nigeria who escaped president had heard about it and wanted to meet them and they were brought into the white house and heard their story and cried and had tears in his eyes when he heard their story and these young people from nigeria and ivanka was wonderful and she hugged these young people and showed them such courtesy and love. i don't see him as a racist, six presidents of the united states in recent years used the n word against black people, five of those presidents were democrats. you've never heard trump talk like that, it's outrageous to make some of these charges of racism when there is no racism. that's wrong. >> there is a charge being leveled on the president here on martin luther king day, now dr. king's niece has been on here on fox and she's defended president trump saying democrats misunderstood what he meant by those comments that we've referenced. take a quick look. >> understanding the work that president trump is doing in america and around the world, drain the swamp in america first and then move out. bring the job rate up, put people back to work, get people out of jail so they can work and be productive in society, so then he lists the corrupt societies in other countries, the hell holes in other countries where corrupt leaders have taken everything away from the people and the people are oppressed, so oppressed they want to leave and move to a country where they believe things are better. well those leaders need to change what they're doing so that the people can enjoy their own home, where they are living. you see so president trump addressing that oppression and corruption call them a word that i don't use but i will say that there are hell holes in america and all around the world and if the swamp is drained we've got to have enough compassion to help every person, everywhere. >> want to talk more in a few minutes about this particular topic but a quick final thought from you. >> yeah, i would say it's not about humanitarianism. this is an issue of power because in the 1970s, the vietnamese boat people were trying to come to america and your viewers can google joe biden and jerry brown and they can see it was democrats who didn't want them to come. those poor young people who were born to american soldier, father s and vietnamese young women were being butchered in vietnam but the fear was they would come to america and they would vote republican. this is about power. we don't want immigrants who will vote democrat or we don't want immigrants who will vote republican. it's not about really the issue of who needs to be here and who can be helpful here and whose hurting. >> doug weed, good to see you as always thank you. >> thanks connell. >> now on martin luther king day the democratic congressman john lewis himself the hero of the civil rights movement says that dr. king would not be happy with what he calls trump's america. we heard from dr. king's niece more to come from her, defending the president once again and trump national diversity coalition executive director bruce lavelle is here to respond after a quick break. y. moderator: nice to meet you. have you ever had car trouble in a place like this? (roaring of truck) yes and it was like the worst experience of my life. seven lanes of traffic and i was in the second lane. when i get into my car, i want to know that it's going to get me from point a to point b. well, then i have some good news. chevy is the only brand to receive j.d. power dependability awards for cars, trucks and suvs two years in a row. woman: wait! (laughing) i definitely feel like i'm in a dependable vehicle right now. woman 2: i want a chevy now. woman 3: i know! yes or no?gin. do you want the same tools and seamless experience across web and tablet? do you want $4.95 commissions for stocks, $0.50 options contracts? $1.50 futures contracts? what about a dedicated service team of trading specialists? did you say yes? good, then it's time for power e*trade. the platform, price and service that gives you the edge you need. looks like we have a couple seconds left. let's do some card twirling twirling cards e*trade. the original place to invest online. >> i don't think that there is anyway you can square what the president said with the words of martin luther king jr., we have come so far, i think this president, this man is taking us back to another place. connell: today. day we honor dr. martin luther king, jr. democratic lewis right there, saying that king would not be happen with trump's america. you will hear from dr. king's niece who seeming on disagree. >> he said, i'm convinced that machine hate each other because they don't know each other. and they don't know each other, because they don't communicate with each other. they don't communicate with each other, because they are separated from each other. now those are words of my uncle. john lewis, congressman lewis, knows so many of my uncle's words it is better if we would communicate with the president, and to boycott the state of the union address. is not going to begin to resolve the problem. connell: let's bring our guest in trump national diversity coalition executive director, bruce lavelle. good to see you, sir. >> happy king day it was a beautiful day. i was at church with my sister alveda king this morning. connell: a conversation to have on this day, whether or not president of united states is a racist, he chose to come out over the weekend, saying i'm not a racist. what do you make of where we are? >> i am biased, i have been with him since the beginning. you know there something, you know earlier you had speaking earlier, i was a witness myself, 2015 trump tower, in front of 100 pastors on 26 floor with that time candidate trump, he spoke, he said one thing, when i become president, i'm going to protect the pastor's ability to speak out of the pulpit without any government coming in and overreaching, for congressman lewis to say, respectfully, i don't agree, i don't think that dr. king would, agree with president trump is unfair statement. because when you have a potus in office that we have, that is fought to lower taxes to put more money in my pocket and my employees pocket, and i potus in office that defends right of pastors that look like he and congressman john lewis protect those pulpits, how can you say something like that? a man of 40 years, out in public eye, traveled all over world, not one person, go through 17 candidate in primary, not one soul come out and validate any of this statement that he is eye racist, this is crazy. connell: we have someone whether congressman lewis that looks at public statements that president made or like last week that have been reported to be made by report, concludes in their own mind, they say, i think he is a racist, can you beneficiary that? -- appreciate that? if so what would your counter argument be? >> the president said he did not say it we have to come up with a solution, they had a private meeting, i don't like any republican or democrat congressman or senator having a mighting with president then try to come out and create a crazy key dielowing and interrupt of -- dialogue and interrupt process that was put on president trump's doorstep that president obama kicked that can down the road, they should have been dealing with this daca in the past, it is unfair to say, president trump deal with, this mess has been put on this president's desk, one thing about this president, he promised israel and jerusalem would be capital, he delivered, he promised tax cuts he delivered, he promised a lowerrer african-american unemployment which is lowest in history of united states and climbing, i sat in that limo with him, we had a conversation, he was so elated that it was just totally diminishing, his plan of the to go out and work with small banks and get more banking back for access to capital for people who look like me and african-american communities this came out of president's mouth. so for john lewis, john lewis, needs to take care of district 5, maxine waters they need to take care of their districts, the congressmen, men, women, republican or democrat, they were voted by the people, too go to dc and fight for their differendistrict, not fight wite president of the united states of america. connell: college students running for cover, what a 6 scee in hawaii, prompting plans for an investigation, former congressman chaffetz questions whether or not it was an accident, we'll talk about that after this. what? yeah, with liberty mutual all i needed to do to get an estimate was snap a photo of the damage and voila! voila! i wish my insurance company had that... wait! hold it... hold it boys... there's supposed to be three of you... where's your brother? where's your brother? hey, where's charlie? charlie?! you can leave worry behind when liberty stands with you. liberty stands with you™ liberty mutual insurance. (daniel jacob) for every hour that you're idling in your car, you're sending about half a gallon of gasoline up in the air. that amounts to about 10 pounds of carbon dioxide every week. (malo hutson) growth is good, but when it starts impacting our quality of air and quality of life, that's a problem. so forward-thinking cities like sacramento are investing in streets that are smarter and greener. the solution was right under our feet. asphalt. or to be more precise, intelligent asphalt. by embedding sensors into the pavement, as well as installing cameras on traffic lights, we will be able to analyze the flow of traffic. then that data runs across our network, and we use it to optimize the timing of lights, so that travel times are shorter. who knew asphalt could help save the environment? ♪ connell: to this met in hawaii, fcc launching an investigation following the state's false missile alert this weekend. jason chaffetz thinks maybe there is more to the story. >> it was horrific, a circus combi of errors in a very serious situation. i have a hard time believing this somebody hit a button by accident. then takes more than a half hour to turn it around? you tell me it one person who can make this small of an accident? i am telling you, on the surface i don't believe that. what if it was an incoming missile. what if they did need to get other information out, what if something hit kauai and they needed to communicate with the other islands. i think that someone, total's trust and believe in her, i don't agree with her, go walk through the system, show someone -- >> i think you will find out it of the not true. connell: before we talk about that. look at some of this video footage, a manilowerring a child into a manhole, people seeking refuge after the false alert, panic at university of hawaii, students running for cover, hiding in classrooms. really was unbelievable in hawaii. now, former intelligence operator, navy figh fighter pil, leah gabriel with me, what do you think of the questions that they are questioning that he hit the young button. >> you have to be really careful using that language in today's political environment, where conspiracy theories abound, having served in mill pear for 2 years, i have seen systems in place where people takeover a watch, that is what they were doing, they go through a check list, they reinstated this, from when i am reading, and reporting there are two options to test this system, one was test missile alert. and other was missile alert, they pushed wrong button. connell: maybe the buttons should not be so close to each other. >> they should not that is what they are saying, they correcting that, they are not doing the tests unless they have two-person confirmation, and they also have to have a way to quickly retrack it. you know one thing that jason mentioned, what if it was real? well, a couple things, we know that system works. it works, message got out, unfortunately it was the wrong, if scared a lot of people, if there were a real missile attack the system did work, it did get the message out, it is important to think what would they do if there was an incoming threat. connell: a lot flashes flu a with ththrough alot of people'sg we never think of, my mom said we used too duck under our desk at school, what good is that, but are there other things that we could do. >> you know, you are right, when our parents were growing up, they had basically bomb practices. we had fire drills, the 9/11 happened and we've done an amazing job of keeping us safe. people dean have this on their -- don't have this on their mind all of the time, despite rhetoric from north korea and united states hawaii emergency management agency does have a list of q&as on-line that people can look at for what they can do. it says more than 90% of population would survive, direct effect of such an explosion, referring to an attack by north korea on hawaii. that sprch to important to knowd to shelter inside, not lower people who sewers, shelter inside. connell: they just didn't know what to do. >> another thing there is a likelihood there would be a electrical magnetic pull, they would use other island transmitting system, have a 14 day kit with our supplies and a battery power radio. connell: real quick, debate about whether a state agency, should be one handling this versus federal government, john roberts reported on this, there was a mic mix up they thought ty had to get fema aperspectival al before sending out a second message, is it being handle the right way. >> it is not that it took that long. connell: does federal government, military need too get more involved. >> i want to mention, dow industrials be one to detect an incoming ballistic missile, there needs to be better communication, we're in the communication age, it spr it is important no miscalculation occur, and people do not get hysterical that is where the injuries occur. connell: good stuff. >> thank you. connell: this 20-year-old is a multimillionaire in florida, he won the mega millions. euronext guest said this is -- our next guest said this is pretty much every millennial's dream, get something for nothing. the conservative millennial coming up after a quick break. tomorrow, it's a day filled with promise and new beginnings, challenges and opportunities. at ameriprise financial, we can't predict what tomorrow will bring. but our comprehensive approach to financial planning can help make sure you're prepared for what's expected and even what's not. and that kind of financial confidence can help you sleep better at night. with the right financial advisor, life can be brilliant. when it comes to travel, i sweat the details. late checkout... ...down-alternative pillows... ...and of course, price. tripadvisor helps you book a... ...hotel without breaking a sweat. because we now instantly... ...search over 200 booking sites ...to find you the lowest price... ...on the hotel you want. don't sweat your booking. tripadvisor. the latest reviews. the lowest prices. connell: we have a 20-year-old in florida winning mega million drawing. writing, oh, my god. we have assembled a personal finance team here, maybe help shane out a little bit on his newfound wealth. a very important topic. you said this is a millennial's dream, what do you do with the money?
