>> according to all reports, five to 10 times stronger than than the one that went on hiroshima in 1945, profoundly stronger than anything at this point. lauren: by 20,500 troops right now. what do you think corporations are looking bleak for u.s. troops based in south korea? >> i've been stationed in south korea before so i've got a good idea there's a lot of anxiety and preparation. they are prepared for anything on the ground. they've been training and preparing most of their careers. while they are concerned, they are also very prepared should anything be required of them. cheryl: each assertive cores from nikki haley, front and center emergency meeting they called yesterday in new york. she is taking things a little bit concerning that north korea is taking for more. we've got to do something before it's too late. the roadblock seems to be russia and china. would you make of that? >> we have to be careful about ratcheting up the rhetoric too strongly. we can't put north korea in a position where they are packed into a corner and will be attacked and caused them to possibly use their weapons were trying to prevent. you have to ask the right question, which is what are they trying to get out of this? are they intending to develop something to strike the united states or do they want to deter the united states? if it's the latter, we have to be careful about too much pressure because we don't want to spawn the thing we are trying to prevent. cheryl: some diplomatic negotiations to begin another say we need to be ready for a military response. let's talk about sanctions for north korea. can they be of type and whether it's economic sanctions, the labor my grades from handing over into china, although that could be used against them cutting off fuel supplies. would that work? the timing seems to be rough with everything happening in washington this morning. >> fundamentally i do agree. what happened in 2012 when president obama could not pass actual legislation through congress that the dreamer at, he signs an executive order that is only temporary. and it's not federal law. in fact, the federal law is generally peaking. people here illegally can be deported. when he signs the executive order, he postpones the actual law. they president trump making this decision, he's throwing it back to congress to say this is your decision. this is the proper way to go about this business and as you agree, the way to go. >> it's interesting because it seems that the president is doing what president obama should've done. he didn't get the dream act passed and now president trump is the executive order aside, let's stop at the executive order and the congress working out. at the same time, congress has the key here. paul ryan have both commented about we should protect these young individuals. some of these are kids that are 16, 17, 18 years old. do you think president trump will agree with whatever decision they make in congress? >> some investors in asian markets are a big concern. you saw less of that in you only see in small sliver of that in u.s. mutual market. i would say investors are thinking this is more of the same. cheryl: more of the same and there are reports that kim jong un could be launching ramakrishna north korea. also what is happening with hurricane heartbeat that needs to be approved. tax reform. all of this they've got a very short window to get this done in. >> that's right. these 12 days is a very, very small window. tax reform does in fact take a backseat over the next 12 days. going to be deferring to hurricane heartbeat, and the debt limit and of course the continuing resolution that they needed to keep the government from shutting down. my suspicion is some of these things are most of them will get done before the end of the month for tax reform locked away. cheryl: tax reform passed away. i should say god for bid, but what of september the 29th comes and goes on and look at the shutdown of the government. >> we had about 18 shutdowns, so that's not unusual. only for a very small. come on my suspicion is that that happened if it happens it will end pretty quickly. cheryl: you're not worried about a government shutdown. the markets are watching what is happening with the economy. the forecast now a little bit better despite the fact you titled this back-and-forth happening in washington and the korean situation. are you concerned gdp could eventually the effect by the noise we see out of d.c.? >> according to all reports, five to 10 times stronger than than the one that went on hiroshima in 1945, profoundly stronger than anything at this point. lauren: by 20,500 troops right now. what do you think corporations are looking bleak for u.s. troops based in south korea? >> i've been stationed in south korea before so i've got a good idea there's a lot of anxiety and preparation. they are prepared for anything on the ground. they've been training and preparing most of their careers. while they are concerned, they are also very prepared should anything be required of them. cheryl: each assertive cores from nikki haley, front and center emergency meeting they called yesterday in new york. she is taking things a little bit concerning that north korea is taking for more. we've got to do something before it's too late. the roadblock seems to be russia and china. would you make of that? >> we have to be careful about ratcheting up the rhetoric too strongly. we can't put north korea in a position where they are packed into a corner and will be attacked and caused them to possibly use their weapons were trying to prevent. you have to ask the right question, which is what are they trying to get out of this? are they intending to develop something to strike the united states or do they want to deter the united states? if it's the latter, we have to be careful about too much pressure because we don't want to spawn the thing we are trying to prevent. cheryl: some diplomatic negotiations to begin another say we need to be ready for a military response. let's talk about sanctions for north korea. can they be of type and whether it's economic sanctions, the labor my grades from handing over into china, although that could be used against them cutting off fuel supplies. would that work? >> they definitely have a lot on their plate. the senate and republican leadership as well as the administration wanting to not win before the year is out. it's kind of like a bunch of procrastinators have waited until the last minute to do their homework and now they've got a very short bit of time. some good news here is of course hurricane harvey with devastating and a tragedy on so many levels. on the other hand, they pushed a lot of people in congress to save the american people don't want to hear that victory with devastating losses. he said advocates to really get things done. he played an increase played an increasing the deficit spending bill and the debt limit increase and possibly putting on the back burner at the fights over the border wall and tighten the hurricane aid relief package so they can get all this through. cheryl: they may tie in some of that funding to the border wall. that's to be determined. in particular, eight for harvey victims is where we see true bipartisanship and goodwill. >> asked kristin says, is scheduled for september is packed. only a 12 day schedule. the big issue you will see moving forward is the conflict between sort of secretary mnuchin's desire to have the debt limit be attached to hurricane harvey spending bill, but the freedom caucus in the house pushing back as it gets attached to the senate instead down. it's an extremely precarious position because they have to both against relief for hurricane but guns in order to achieve the purity of their own agenda. it's going to be a complicated september. i don't see a whole lot done beyond the debt limit and the hurricane harvey bill, but the challenges are huge moving forward with the congress that continues to be completely dysfunctional. cheryl: we've got to talk about tax reform. president trump meeting today with the biggs big six. >> they scheduled mid-november is when they want to see the bill delivered. of course we know that health care has been a really, really huge and complicated issue. tax reform just as complicated. senator mitch mcconnell has a lot of different warning factions within the gop to corral here and if they don't want to work with democrats on a tax bill, he's in the same position as illicit help care can really only able to afford to lose about three senators. each senator likely has a deduction or something in the tax code that they want. tax reform is something the administration will be about to say we can get this through but it will likely take longer as most things have with this congress than is right now been estimated. cheryl: with the democrat strategy on tax reform? the timing seems to be rough with everything happening in washington this morning. >> fundamentally i do agree. what happened in 2012 when president obama could not pass actual legislation through congress that the dreamer at, he signs an executive order that is only temporary. and it's not federal law. in fact, the federal law is generally peaking. people here illegally can be deported. when he signs the executive order, he postpones the actual law. they president trump making this decision, he's throwing it back to congress to say this is your decision. this is the proper way to go about this business and as you agree, the way to go. >> it's interesting because it seems that the president is doing what president obama should've done. he didn't get the dream act passed and now president trump is the executive order aside, let's stop at the executive order and the congress working out. at the same time, congress has the key here. paul ryan have both commented about we should protect these young individuals. some of these are kids that are 16, 17, 18 years old. do you think president trump will agree with whatever decision they make in congress?
