Shanghai index was off 8 1 2 our time. That is the worst performance since 2007. Chinese regulators investing with the market. Investors losing confidence that china cant maintain its market that of course would set off a Ripple Effect through global economies. We saw action in the price of oil, falling on expectations of weaker demand and oversupply issues. What i found interesting so many house hole names do significant business in china. We saw breakdown of shares in prodly weak market. Apple down 1. 3 . Conference call on latest Earnings Call from apple pointing to a focus on apple, im sorry, china, apple, key markets. Shares of apple down 1. 3 . After the Earnings Call apple shares fell precipitously because of concern about demand for apple products there. Yum brands, Las Vegas Sands and wynn resorts have huge resorts in macau. That is a big trouble spot. Wynn resorts down 3. 2 . Baidu, down 4 1 2 . Baidu reporting earnings after the bell today. They released very troubling Second Quarter guidance. Poor baidu, timing of chinese stock market and Earnings Call not good for them. Ge was a little higher today. That was outstanding the only positive step for utilities. Otherwise nine out of 10 s p sectors were down in todays market. 3m was down half a percent today. Once again looking at dow down 126 points. Five down days. The longest losing streak in six months. High volume today, 10 higher than the average daily volume. Thats about all i got. Back to you guys. Hoary rothman, thank you very much. On tough day for the markets. Thank you, lori. Melissa new concerns what is behind the major gains weve seen for stocks. Just a handful of companies are driving the gains, six to be exact. Samamazon, google, facebook, netflix, apple and gilead account for half of the 654 billion added this year to the nasdaq. That data was compiled by jones trading for the wall street journal those tech heavy names helping drive nasdaq up compared to the s p which is up 1 . Check this out, amazon, google and apple have accounted for 37 of the nasdaq gains. What do you think about that, ashley . Is that cause for concern . Everybody loves these stocks. Theyre the world peters. I understand why money is pouring into it. There is concern, melissa, there is big disconnect between the Six Companies and all the others struggling and doesnt really speak to the overall economy. Melissa no. Especially when you put that to the idea, dow and s p, a lot of people think what is driving stock is loose monetary policy. Right, right. Melissa wait a second. You put all of that together and feels like Interest Rates go up. We could be set up for a correction. We shall see. Lets talk about the pharmaceutical sector. Teva is buying allergans generic drug unit for 40 billion. The latest in a string of deals for the health care sector. Teva one of the Worlds Largest generic drugmaker based in israel. The deal will help boost its pipeline and supply chain. Allergan best known for making botox, will receive 34 billion in cash and share. The deal expected to close in the First Quarter of next year. And stick with fox business. Well be hearing from allergans ceo himself, Brent Saunders, himself coming up. Melissa commodity collapse is undeniable. So far this year oil has shed 16 . It is not alone. Nickel down 25 . Wheat lost 16 . Sugar down 28 . China concerns adding to losses. Lets go to larry shover, a trader at the cme. Larry, oil is a big mover today, ending down 1. 5 . What do you make of that . What i make of it, all of sudden suffering a hangover effect from china and greece. The macro narrative for oil, that were overswap applied. We have to remember we have countries like iraq and saudi arabia producing 1 1 2 Million Barrels a day, more than expected going back to the november. Shale production has gone down to 50 a barrel. Oil out pit is flat. Our production is flat. The bottom line is were still oversupplied. I dont think as much about complications of china. I do believe our economy here and europe is status quo. Emerging markets is definitely crunchy. I think it is all about oversupply and ive been singing that song ever since january. Melissa you about you say even as Commodity Prices collapse dont count out gold . Why . Well i think, a lot of it is that gold is, all the hope for gold has evaporated. People cant figure out if it is commodity or currency or what. There is wholesaling selling gold down to prices we havent seen for a long time. Really all about the fed. Not that the fed is raising rates but the fact that the fed is saying hey systemic crisis of 2008 is over. Well normalize Interest Rates. We know gold rallied two of the last three fed hikes weve seen last 20 years. I think it is priced in and oversold. Im buying it between now and september the 17th. Melissa interesting. Larry, thanks so much. We got some big news for you, anyone especially who owns a dodge suv, a ram pickup or older model Jeep Cherokee of the federal government slapped Fiat Chrysler with the largest fine ever in the wake of a string of recalls. Melissa president obama in ethiopia defending his administrations nuclear deal with iran, specifically citing Mike Huckabee. If you ask me if you think our argument is going, it is going great. If you ask me about the politics of washington and rhetoric, that has taken, takes place there, that doesnt always go great. The particular comments of mr. Huckabee, are, i think part of a general pattern weve seen, would be, considered, ridiculous, if it werent so sad. Melissa not very president ial. In addition governor Mike Huckabee single the out donald trump and senator ted cruz that republicans are playing fast and loose on topics of grave concern like Foreign Policy ashley. Ashley the case of Hillary Clinton emails, the state department set to release a third batch of former secretary of state emails despite warnings from federal watchdogs that hundreds of potentially classified materials could be among them. Peter barnes has latest from d. C. Peter. Hey, ash. This would be the third big bash of emails from the former secretary of state despite warnings from government watchdogs that they could include hundreds of potentially classified emails. Last week you recall the Inspector General for the Intelligence Community referred the matter to the Justice Department to find out whether the handling of the emails may have violated federal secrecy laws. This weekend clinton insisted again said she did nothing wrong. Im cost that i never sent information that cast classified at the time is was sent or received. Karn date clinton will host a town hall meeting in iowa. We expect that this subject could come up. Well sole monitor comments in iowa. Ashley peter bernake see. Thank you. Melissa Hillary Clinton trying to history spotlight to global warming, pledging to install half a billion solar panels nationwide by the end of her first term. Im just a grandmother with two eyes and a brain. It is hard to believe there are people running for president who refuse to accept the settled science of climate change. Would rather remind us they are not scientists than listen to those who are. Melissa here is nomi prins from demos, and judy miller, Manhattan Institute. She is fox news contributor. Let me start with you. Were shifting to solar panels. We spend 38 billion putting them up and contribute. 4 of 1 of our lech it interest. That does not sound like good return on our investment . I dont think she is actually thinking of this as a real plan. She finding a way to energize her base, solar energy, fossil fuel, United States has 85 of its energy in fossil fuels. This is core energy of her base so she is playing to it. Melissa moment my, she is just a grandmother. Toll us again. Is this appeal . The. The grandmother thing appeal to women voters. She has 61 of contributions from women which is higher than normally is so that is working. On the clean energy, i looked through the state of the unions from president s of george w. Bush and obama, they all talk about the same things. Not necessarily about like hillary invented the idea of solar energy or even of investing in solar energy. So i do agree to some extent with judy there is element of this where she is talking about this because she needs to. It is an issue but also been prevalent in washington on a bipartisan basis throughout the years. Melissa judy, nomi makes a great point. Weve been talking about solar energy forever and doesnt make anymore sense than it did before because it doesnt work economically well you know, the first of all the argument from the democrats has always been it doesnt work because there is not enough of it. She is pledging to increase americas devotion to solar energy melissa does that make the sunshine brighter . Is that how that works, put more panels out there it will deliver more energy for a loyer price . No. That is the argument. That is what has not been so far tested out by fact but the democratic response is because we havent gone hard enough, fast enough into this area. Melissa increasing it by 700 still means about 2 of the our energy, nomi. I feel like this was a bad one to pick. Of all the things to pander to the base about this is one of the more ridiculous. Listen, i think climate change, bringing it up is definitely an issue that works with the base, works with people outside her base. In terms of solar energy, it is something that has come up across the parties. The question is, not is it worth it per se, yes, is it right thing to go for . There is wind power as well. There are other things which do provide better return. And also do address the issue of Renewable Energy and getting reducing fossil fuel emissions and everything else. There is ways to go about it. This is one of them. She has kind of accentuated it. That has been something people said on both parties over the years. Melissa weve got to go. Thanks to both of you. Ashley . Melissa, forget about going for the gold, how about trying to avoid it . What bostons mayor did to nix from the 2024 games coming to beantown. Melissa well talk exclusively with helly luv, the kurdish pop star. Staring isis in the face on the front line. How the terror group might be more dangerous than we think. This is not just kurdistans war. Isis not just enemy of kurdistan, but the enemy of the whole world. Fresher dentures with polident. For the best first impression. Love loud. Live loud. Polident. Technology empowers us it pushes us to go further. Special olympics has almost five million athletes in 170 countries. The microsoft cloud allows us to immediately be able to access information, wherever we are. Information for an athletes medical care, or information to track their personal best. With microsoft cloud, we save millions of man hours, and thats time that we can invest in our athletes and changing the world. Melissa dubbed the kurdish shakira, helly luv was born in iran. It was antiwar, prokurdish anthem t got four million views on youtube and brought Death Threats and condemnation from her own family. That did not stop her though. She went to the front lines of the war with isis in iraq and in full uniform with an ak47, she shot her video revolution. Welcome to the show. How did you feel doing that . Were you afraid . Definitely i was not afraid because i felt the message was supposed to tell the people, and i wanted to show the truth the obviously there was hundreds of thousands peshmerga fighting. So we really got the courage from them. So there is no reason to be afraid. Melissa when that was over, you did get Death Threats from isis. What was that like . Tell me about that . Well really, it feels unrealistic and i tried not to think about it. I think what im doing is more important and, i feel that if i can get my voice to millions of other people from those people whose voice has shut down and really in a way it is also a privilege. It means that the message of revolution is as powerful as their weapons. Melissa what is the message . Give it to us in plain language so all of our viewers can hear. The message of the video is obviously freedom and peace and justice. I feel like as an artist, my weapon is not a real weapon. My weapon is through music. Through my music i can get the message to millions of people. What happened here was not just. I saw how isis came here, killed, murdered, burned, cut head, raped innocent people. Seeing that light a fire in me and i feel it is my duty to fight in this war as well. So, and, the message is to really sent to the people that this is not just kurdistans war. The that isis is not just the enemy of kurds, it is the enemy of the whole world. For that i think it is important to send the message to the people. Melissa do you think isis is winning. No, i dont think the isis is winning and the reason is because of the peshmerga. It is unbelievable to believe that peshmergas can be winning this most dangerous Tourist Group of all history with very weak weapons. I feel isis can be destroyed. They can only be destroyed if we come together and unite. The one people i want to send a message to americans, the political leaders of america and to president barack obama is that please we need help with weapons. If we give peshmerga weapons they can destroy the enemy. Truly they are the ones who can. Even though they dont have strong weapons but theyre still winning. Melissa what do you think about the news of the day that turkey is finally joining the battle against isis but theyre also targeting kurds . Well, turkey and kurds we have a very long history and sad history. All i can say i am sad about it. I feel turkey should have our back and really give right and justice and peace to the kurds. This is unfortunate situation. Well have to hope for the best. Melissa the people in the background of your video, are they actors, are they real fighters . How did you organize that . Actually everything you see in the video is real. We were in a small village very he close to mosul. We were about 2. 5 kilometers away from isis. The everything you see, peshmerga, the tanks, people running in the beginning are victims from isis. I felt it was very important to show the truth of the war and show this in here, not in los angeles because. Because i wanted toshow real pain of what is going on here. Melissa are you afraid for your life now . No. Melissa wow. What is next for you . Definitely i will fight for just disand bring awareness of the situation here. Also im known for my humanitarian work. Next project im doing for females and young girls that were victims of isis. That is my next project i focus on. Melissa helly luv, you are a brave woman. Shanks for sharing your story to the world. We appreciate your time. Ashley very brave indeed. We have breaking news. Oil falling further in electronic trade. Melissa lori, thank you so much for that. Ashley, to you. Ashley in a major multibilliondollar deal, teva agreed to buy allergans generics units it reinforces tevas position as one of the largest maker of drugs. Joining us is allergans ceo Brent Saunders. You made it into the studin time. Congratulations on. That as the story go on the deal, i dont know if this is true, teva was about to up the hostile bid for milean when they get a phone call from you, and you say what . Actually thats not how it went. Misreporting by one of the news services. Ashley okay, so you didnt call them. Part of it was true. I think eras goodman the ceo of teva was contemplating next move with milan and decided to call me to see if i was interested in the transaction. Ashley you already rebuffed them. For good reason. And he came back and said would you be interested if we were willing to pay something close to 40 billion . Ashley purely money why you rebuffed the first time . Wasnt just money. At the time the industry was different. There is consolidation in the buyers of Generic Pharmaceuticals since the first offer. Also our circumstances change. We close the allergan transaction, heavier focus on brands, as a result. Ashley from activists taking over allergan. Right. And so a whole circumstances. Ashley it all made sense this time around. Just to be clear and for the record. Ashley you didnt pick up the phone. We werent looking to sell the business, the contact was initiated by teva to us. Ashley you are obviously happy with the deal, what do you do with the money . We are. At the end of the day, we will net out 36 billion after we pay out taxes. Ashley okay. And weve been good stewards of capital over the last few years, doing 150 billion worth of deals over the last year alone, and so i think were going to go and look how do we create longterm sustainable value for shareholders. Well continue to do deals with a company around depression, well continue to buy things to is up lem the pipeline and think about transformational and make bigger opportunities. We want to maintain our Investment Grade rating. Its strategic to us, we have a lot more capacity to think about bigger opportunities. Ashley is it about economies of scale, you have to grow, you have to look down the road and you have to buy up, much like pacman all the Companies Buying up each other because there is a lot to provide . In our industry, there is a lot of inefficiency because of the high margins, i think thats going to change. What we do, whats slightly different in the operating models, we operate with very flat costs, there by some of the best margins in the industry, and get as much leverage out of commercial infrastructure by selling as much products through the therapeutic products and r d capabilities by bringing as many products through a therapeutic area. We dont try to dabble in a lot of different areas, stay focused in the areas were in. Ashley as a consumer, when i see the consolidation, should i worry the cost is going to go up because i have fewer choices . Depends what you are worried about. In the drug industry, thats not case. Pressure is the reverse. The consolidation of the insurers and the payers and buyers are going to drive pricing down, unless you innovate. So the challenge on us is to not create two drugs but leapfrog innovation and come out with breakthrough treatments for therapy. Thats how were going to get paid. Ashley you expect the m a to continue at this pace . Its difficult to keep up with. When you look at broad pharmaceutical industry, were in a third inning of a nineinning game of consolidation, theres a long way to go. Ashley congratulations on this deal. Brent saunders with allergan, we appreciate it. Thank you for having me. Ashley youre a busy guy. Thanks so much, melissa . Ashley president obama taking on gop candidates on their political rhetoric on the campaign trail. In particular. Linking Donald Trumps comments to the entire Republican Party. Here to weigh in is my panel, steven yates, and former cheney adviser and back with us, nomi prinze with demos and, of course, judy miller, the Manhattan Institute fellow and fox news contributeor. Thank you for being here. President obama slamming Mike Huckabee and donald trump, trying to basically say this is what the Republican Party is all about. Steven, let me begin with you, does he have a point . Well, i think first we want to note we have a president of the United States taking political potshots from overseas, which is supposed to be a nono. But you know, obvious the democrat want to try to pick the most sensational thing any republican might say and say thats what theyre all about. Donald trump has cleverly picked a couple of issues that catapult him in notoriety in coverage that a lot of republicans are interested in. So taking a stand on the border, and calling out john mccain, we can criticize how he may have done it, but he picked targets that are popular among conservatives to question and attack. Ashley nomi, the president call the comments outrageous and sad. Do you think he has a point . Well, the idea of bringing jews to the oven as a result of the iran deal is kind of over the top. Thats true. The separate aspect of what donald trump element, thats kind of separate, you know . The Mike Huckabee comment i think was over the top. How obama portrayed it and where he portrayed it, from he could have been a lot more pressdential in delivery and avoided the potshot delivery, and i think both sides werent behaving appropriately. Ashley right, judy, is this the trump effect . Hes being very, of course, we had the mccain comments, the mexican immigrant comments. Now starting to get these pretty cloud and outlandish comments from other republican hopefuls, following along the trump media play. Right, trying to get some oxygen. Trying to get some air time away from donald trump. Ashley good luck. 13 others because theyre being forced you think. And it leads to you a really bad place. Leads to you lindsey graham, smashing a cell phone on tv, or rand paul blowing up the tax code, setting fire to it. Look, and it leaves to you huckabees outrageous statements about the iran deal. No matter how you feel about it. For it, against it, that was an inappropriate comment. Thats the trump effect, thats what obama and hillary want. They should be sending donald trump nash notes, not yelling at him. Ashley despite all the comments, donald trump seems to resonate with some of the potential with the voters because he says and he speaks his mind and leading in the polls, and lets face it, probably going to be among the people in the debate coming up in ten days on fox news. He does reliably seem to be showing well in polls. Now when youre dividing polls among 16 contenders, youre not really talking about people who for sure are running away with a race. And in past cycles were familiar with people who can rise quickly and fall quickly as time goes on. Right now hes holding under a fifth of the vote, but not running away from an election, definitely enough have staying power and be on the podium. Ashley nomi, why is trump top of the board despite what hes said and the controversy hes created . Because he is the most famous person of that pool of 16 republican candidates. Thats a lot of people. And the American Population only has so much bandwidth to deal with any of this so early on in the election. Everyone knows donald trump. Jeb bush has the name, everybody might know the name. If you had to pick him out of a lineup, theyre not getting the same recognition. Donald trump is the guy. Its not a significant lead. Its a lead among a far lesser known group of people all fighting for the same top spot. Ashley seeing all of those candidates, its almost laughable. Isnt it . 16. Theyre there. And they want to have their say. Difficult to make your voice heard but donald trump does, his fame and style. Hes a great entertainer, thats what hes good at. Beyond that hes appealing to the anger, the resentment that so Many Americans feel after being lied to by politician after politician, he is tapping into that. Its very effective. Ashley and perhaps some comment on the leadership of the Republican Party . Absolutely. Absolutely. But its not only republicans who should be afraid of donald trump. There is an element of that in the Democratic Party as well. Ashley fascinating stuff. Cant get enough of that. Steven, nomi and judy, thank you for joining us, melissa . Melissa a dramatic scene in amsterdam as a klm Royal Dutch Airline tried to land in wind gusts of 75 miles an hour. Tons of people sharing this clip on social media. Especially that last pass there, to the runway. And you said it, winds 75 miles per hour. Pilot did the best he could. Can you imagine people cheering, right . When they landed. I would have been. Cheering and saying im never getting on another flight. I love train trips. Melissa thank you so much. The battle against isis, we spoke to helly luv, the kurdish pop star fighting the terror group with music. And she has a message for americans and president obama. Listen to what she told us just moments ago. Isis cant be destroyed but they can be only destroyed if we come together and unite and the one thing they want to send a message to americans to political leaders of america to president barack obama, is that please, we need help with weapons. If we can give peshmergas the weapons, they can destroy the enemy. Melissa joining me now with reaction, peter brooks of the Heritage Foundation and former deputy undersecretary of defense under president george w. Bush. Steven and judy are back as well. Thanks to all three of you for joining us. Peter, start with you, you know, helly said all they need is weapons, they can do it on their own, they dont need our troops. Do you think thats right . Should we be doing that . Obviously does a great job of displaying the kurdish spirit, the fighting spirit, her message is strong from what ive seen of it. Its not that simple. Shes not a military strategist. I think the peshmerga do need more weapons, its a very complicated process for the administration because of ties to baghdad, baghdad demands that the weapons going to the kurds in the north go through baghdad. So its limited that theyre very concerned about a kurdish independence movement. Turkey is into things now, melissa, as you know, and they have issues with kurdish groups such as the pkk which the u. S. Considers a terrorist group. Despite what helly said and people come together to fight isis, the common enemy, its very, very complicated. Ashley steven, these are real people in her video. She film on the front lines. Got real fighters, real victims to make her point. Part of the reason isis is doing so well is through media and social messaging. Does that counterthat . Thats the best we can say about. This engaging in a culture war that needs to be engaged, pushing back against those trying to hijack the culture in the region. Im far from being a person to judge how this connects with people in kurdistan about whether this kind of a video helps them rally but admire her courage in engaging the culture war and going there to do it. Melissa judy, i was surprised when i asked her if she thinks isis is winning. She says no. From here, it looks like to many people that they are. What do you think . I think shes speak as a kurd, and a kurdish iraqi, and the one thing i do know about isis is that theyre terrified of the kurds.
