County Maryland District #1 Representative P. Mike Jurry has donated a new cassava-processing mill to farmers of New Harper community in Harper Maryland County. The presentation came following a request by the beneficiaries that they were involved in cassava production but were finding it difficult to add values to the product due to the lack of a machine that will process the cassava. From the cassava, farmers get gari, processed cassava that can be mixed with sugar and other supplements to eat either by soaking, or other means of preparation. Representative Jurry said women from the New Harper Community visited his home in February this year and made the request, explaining the losses they encounter every year after harvesting their cassava in the absence of milling machine.
