Alan Whelan passed away in October last year after a two-year battle with. It was his family's wish that instead of flowers they asked for donations to staff on Ward 30 at Arrowe Park Hospital who looked after him. It would have been Alan's birthday last week. To mark the occasion his wife Barbara, daughter Fay and sons Michael and Matthew used the £1,000 that was raised from donations to buy six TVs for the haematology ward 30 which treated Alan. They also bought 60 Body Shop care packages for all the staff involved in his care. Because of coronavirus restrictions Barbara and Fay could not enter the ward but they were gratefully received by Deputy sister Zara Delamere.
