FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio — Since opening Ohio’s first GradePower Learning center in Fairview Park to provide quality after-school educational support for students of all ages, Tanya Foose has continually scheduled panel discussions around different themes aimed at helping parents with their children.
Considering the national conversation started last summer regarding racial injustice and inequality, last year Foose expanded the subject matter to address racism in education.
“I’m an educator who has long been very concerned about education for our Black youths, especially for Black boys,” Foose said. “They tend to have the lowest graduation rates, so I want to get to the root of why we have these difficulties in education and what we can do as community members to help.
