Fairfield, Dixon, Rio Vista to host drug take-back events FAIRFIELD — Area residents can drop off expired, unused, unwanted and potentially dangerous prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 20th Prescription Drug Take Back Day in the Civic Center parking lot on Kentucky Street. The Fairfield Police Department is teaming up with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to put on the event. Nationally, the public turned in nearly 500 tons of unwanted drugs at the event in October, and more than 6,800 tons of prescription drugs over the 10 years of the event. Have medications ready for drop off in a Ziploc-type bag or the original container. Only pills and patches will be taken. Liquids, needles or sharps will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous.
