Exports surge, but challenges remain Pakistan’s exports register the highest-ever increase of 18% in fiscal year 2020-21 says PM aide PHOTO: FILE LAHORE: Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has emphasised that the real target is sustainable export growth as sustainability is the only recipe for economic success by overcoming the challenges. Talking to members of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) in Faisalabad, the PM aide boasted that Pakistan’s exports had registered the highest-ever increase of 18% in fiscal year 2020-21 despite the adverse conditions created by the Covid-19 pandemic. “Major economies of the world shrank mainly due to the deadliest Covid waves, but it was Pakistan that performed quite well by increasing exports whereas the regional competing economies of India and Bangladesh remained in the negative zone,” he said.
