HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Despite less traffic on the roadways and bar closures due to the pandemic, police say there’s been an increase in fatal crashes involving impaired drivers.
In 2019, there were 51 fatal crashes on Oahu’s roadway, according to HPD. Drugs and alcohol played a role in about a third of them. In 2020, meanwhile, there were 54 fatal crashes.
