The ethanol blending rate in India for the ethanol supply year 2023-24 (November 2023 to October 2024) is expected to drop to less than 10%, down from 12% in the previous year, according to a report by CRISIL. This decline is attributed to the government's decision to restrict the use of sugarcane juice and sugar syrup for ethanol production due to lower sugarcane production caused by erratic rains.
