A shooting at a west Erie house party in late September resulted in the death of one man and the wounding of another as at least four people fired gunshots inside and outside of a Walnut Street apartment house, according to testimony presented at a preliminary hearing on Thursday. Erie police initially charged two suspects with homicide in the case, but a magistrate at the hearing dismissed the homicide count against one of the two. Erie 3rd Ward District Judge Tom Carney agreed with a defense argument that the bullets police said were fired from the one defendant's gun did not match the caliber of the bullets recovered from the body of the homicide victim, 25-year-old Dayquan Holloway.
