id-Al-Fitr or Eid-Ul-Fitr is one of the most auspicious Muslim festivals, which is celebrated across the globe with much pomp and fanfare. It is also known as the "Festival of Breaking the Fast" as this day marks the end of month-long fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. In this month, Muslim all around the globe observes fast from dusk to dawn, which comes to an end on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr after sighting the crescent moon in the Shawwal month of the lunar-based Islamic calendar. This year, Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated on May 14.
As per telltales, Allah (God) on the day of Eid delivered the first verses of the Quran. Others believe that the month of Ramadan was started to be celebrated started when Prophet Mohammad migrated from Mecca to Medina.
