A new development here i mean and id like to have you react to it george up pulling ahead for joe biden or rather joe biden pulling ahead in georgia it is so close where are you watching as the counting continues. Well georgia was one of the places that we were all watching this is a Pivotal Moment in the vote counting here not only because its the 1st time a biden has pulled ahead in georgia there which would put him on a more easy path to claiming that 270 Electoral College votes that he needs to win the election but also because georgia was not even supposed to be a swing state going into this election but polls were showing that tide was turning against trump there and this if biden can hold his steady lead there this would be the 1st time that that state has gone for a democrat since 1902 which was also the last time that an incumbent president a president was not reelected and a lot of pollsters were watching the state and saying if georgia goes for biden the elections going to go for biden and thats not set in stone yet theres still many states out there still being counted but pennsylvania is another state thats turning its results in very quickly now theyre going to release a new batch of results today friday here and that looking very good for biden as well because the upward trend in the votes there is showing that biden is winning upwards of 70 percent of the votes being tallied there are enough to overtake trump in the next hours or days and with as you mentioned pennsylvania set to release more results georgia now 99 percent of the votes counted the big question here when could we expect a result what sort of timeline could we be looking at. Well its going to be a while its not until december 8th of the states have to certify or their results and send their electors to congress to make that official so we could see a lot of legal battles in that time we could even see a recount in georgia with a vote so the margin so narrow there but pennsylvania may be turning in its results over the next 24 hours or the next few days anyway enough to allow the media. Is it enough ive is it enough to maintain calm in the country i dont think weve necessarily seen calm weve seen both camps turn out to some extent right and i think the response from the trump camp has been a bit more confrontational there what weve been seeing from the biden kim but there does seem to be i think what were looking at bite in the message that hes trying to project its not just telling his base what to do but its also you know as a potential future president what is the attitude that hes projecting and he does sound like a man whos winning he does sound more press president ial at this point and like a man whos prepared to become president we know that hes been meeting with advice or is to get updates and intelligence reports on a grown up and demick so doing a lot of the work that a sitting president would be doing the results have been so narrow i mean we just heard from i mean just how close is it some of these states its really incredible to watch what does it say about where the country is right now that that these 2 miss it messages which are so different is clearly resonating with substantial parts of the population on both sides i think it says that the United States of america in for a very bumpy 4 years they want to head its a deeply divided country i think it its as after 4 years of trouble that is only further cemented that division no matter who wins is going to be a very hard job of governing of uniting the nation and you know all of this comes on top of immense challenges from a pandemic to a struggling economy so whoever becomes president certainly has her job cut up you know a little thank you thank you. Thank you have for having me ending when you look at the state of democracy in the u. S. Right now you see 2 Different Things you see on the one hand a very smoothly steadily progressing democratic process an election process something thats very important to understand the Election Results are coming in slowly because of the way that americans voted this year risa tremendous number of absentee ballots of mail in ballots early voting all of that has created a different landscape than we have ever seen before in the United States and based on laws that we have in place across the u. S. Many of those votes cannot be counted until election day themselves which is why we are on friday and we still do not have full ballot tallying in states like pennsylvania or nevada where were still looking for these results and georgia as well so when you look at the democratic process the process of the elections the technical side its progressing exactly as it should slowly but thats what people anticipated in advance of the election and what were seeing today we also anticipated that many of the in cursing voters on election day would be more from the republican side and we have seen that democrats have sent in more mail in ballots than republicans have in many places because of this weve seen this change on the other hand we see the president s rhetoric and so we have to balance the president s rhetoric against what were seeing in terms of voting process and the rhetoric is alarming and i think the u. Are our leaders here are people encouraged that the process in the United States is working i mean is that is that really a boon for people who are looking on in on this or is the level of concern that one has based on the message that we are hearing from the presidency sort of trumping all.
