Well i think this is incredibly important anniversary for poland 80 years on since the start of the war and poland of course was the 1st country that really faced the onslaught from nazi germany hitlers plans to seize ladens around the room for the german people as he described it in the east of europe and the waste wastage that was laid to cities like yellow and but also here in warsaw another city that was very largely destroyed. With hundreds of thousands of people here and as you said up to 6000000 across poland who lost their lives the memory of that has not gone away and its aged into the personal stories of many poles thats well theyll be focused on not just this event here in warsaw today but i think at commemorative events that have being held across the country something how important is it for germany to take part in events like this. But i think its extremely important for germany to be here its something thats been happening for a number of years now the german president. Has been in poland on this occasion a number of times in the past this year its going to be an especial focus because certainly not only president steinmeyer will come from berlin but also chancellor merkel as well its very unusual head of state and the head of government to be here together or to indeed to attend any such function together so thats a special sign i think of the respect in the deep importance that germany feels and the message that they want to send to poles on this occasion you know in his speech the polish. President said that frank. Presence there was a form of moral compensation is that enough for sure germany do more. Well there are dimona in poland particularly from the. Polish government under the law and Justice Party thats now in power. To make financial reparation and indeed theres a Parliamentary Commission here in poland thats been looking into exactly what kind of demand might eventually be made its due to report very soon and that. Id say one thing thats so striking about these 13 weeks of protests is how they have managed to maintain the momentum that is in the face of what they say is a very fierce Police Crackdown now if anything that crackdown by police and warnings from beijing and from hong kong authorities have only served to make them even more angry even more resolved to take to the streets weekend after weekend images last night in particular have really fueled protests today and are likely to stay with people over the coming weeks they really were extremely striking those images of police entering a train station they were using pepper spray its believed fired that firing the people inside the camp carriage there are these images of these people cowering about pepper sprays being used datsuns as well being used to its unclear whether or not that whether or not that use of course was targeting people who were even taking part in the protest yesterday which was banned by all stores hes or whether or not it was people who were simply on the train who were caught up in the violence now police have issued a statement saying that the violence was in response to protest is causing damage to train stations assaulting civilians as well police said the protesters say it was simply an excessive use of force by police the latest an example in a run of examples they say of police mishandling the situation thats.
