a ballistic missile at saudi arabia but saudi forces say they intercept at the missile before it could hit its target the war palace in riyadh. plus turkey releases a turkish german journalist from prison but she's still unable to leave the country how is her case affecting diplomatic relations between the two nations will ask our istanbul correspondent also coming up the premiere of ridley scott's new movie with some last minute changes christopher plummer fills in for kevin spacey after multiple accusations of sexual misconduct. and we'll look ahead to the upcoming games in the german cup as a high flying shall go post a rejuvenated cologne in the round of sixteen. thank you very much for your company. last year on this very day terrorists struck in the heart of berlin when a man plowed into a christmas market survivors and dignitaries gather to remember the victims and a memorial was unveiled for the twelve people who died in the dozens who were wounded when the attacker drove a truck into crowds enjoying the festive season the attack on the berlin christmas market happened exactly a year ago relatives of the victims gather to commemorate their loved ones alongside those who had come to the aid of those injured at the scene a gash in the ground filled with metal along with the names of those who died here serves as a reminder of the tragic events there are. at dimensional islams of a media attack a tall loved ones from our lives whom we bitterly miss his actions affected everybody they struck at the core of humanity and freedom which is the foundation of life lived in peace. levens in our hood is the injured and those left behind after the attack had accused chancellor angela merkel of neglect in an open letter it has taken her a year to officially invite the relatives to the chancellery today she acknowledged that mistakes had been made and promised to allocate more money to those affected via in their off news and all it was a very open and on the part of those affected brutally frank conversation that showed up the flaws in the government. it's like the. plots the scene of the attack was completely cordoned off and snipers were positioned on the top of nearby buildings the annual christmas market here was temporarily closed and access to the public tonight but many passes by stopped to watch the ceremony. we were here last year at the christmas market exactly week before the attack so it's very moving. i'm very sad the whole world should be sad. says i there's more fear you afraid when you go to the christmas market all places where lots of people are. also mentioned. the christmas market here will open again tomorrow and things will go back to normal but for those left behind nothing is normal for our i did on the market is at the site of the attack on the site plus a good evening fabiana an emotional day for many in berlin what's happening right now where you are. still very emotional to contemplate of moments here at the floods there's a service right next to me here in the kaiser wilhelm remora church which is broadcasted also outside here to the bike shop that's where berliners are gathering we're going to assist phil coming with candles with flowers there listening to this service where people are praying for peace and praying for the victims of the attacks of last year. and now the christmas market ever made closer closed today will open again tomorrow is there a sense of things getting back to normal there where you are. right now it's far away from back to normal at this very moment people really think back of what happened last year in an hour we will hear bells from the church here twelve minutes for all the twelve week terms but yes tomorrow this place will go back to normal in a way the christmas market will be open again people will again come here drink their mulled wine try to forget about what has happened here but they have now a new place where they can. memorize and think about the people that lost their lives here a year ago. five am on that mark at the site of the attack on by thank you very much. on germany security services have also come under heavy criticism for a massive mistakes made ahead of the attack we'll have more on that a little bit later on but now we want to turn to saudi arabia the kingdom says it has intercepted a ballistic rocket which was fired by yemen's who see rebels towards the the capital riyadh the rebels said they were targeting the royal palace in the saudi capital and this is the second time in two months that a rebel projectile has reached as far as riyadh are right well the war in yemen is grinding on with disastrous humanitarian net consequences and there's america so good is a saudi journalist and author and he joins us now from washington d.c. a very good evening sir are we witnessing an escalation in this war with this latest attempt to fire a missile towards riyadh. yes we are the host the house fire. since the war began to warsaw but those missiles are getting more sophisticated. and motor poet for the trumpet much stronger and fingerprints of yet audience. there was also said by american officials of the united nations recently so that's lead also to the tension between saudi arabia and iran all right let's talk a little bit about that so that is that me we're witnessing a growing. conflict a second an overt regional character dimension. the international community should give more attention toward both countries to help them to avoid such as us the us confident titian but the audience will hear the bit is very angry is very much against iran and rightly so because the iranians are playing with fire by helping the policy under a voting system no look we don't want to get through. using the whole with the proxy it. is but it didn't get us. for for the whole region when we have a number of oil in for incident issue between saudi are you going to get on with syria and yemen and but i didn't elsewhere. so we need lower condition for the community that such a desire would have both countries right well let's take a step back if you will because nobody seems to be making headway in this conflict you've got the richest one of the richest countries in the world pitted against one of the well the poorest country in the arab world at least that saudi is not able to bring an end to this conflict why. because there isn't much pressure on the whole if he. does not again is human it is in fact fighting on site with you timoteo a new government against the host. people the rule will have taken powar buying by force and refusing poet hearing in yemen the wall need to would prefer one to get on your own the whole as he talks or a proposed for middle polish hearing that was put into it by he on into cells that are fifteen so the formula is there but it luk in just for support right the whole is the whole i'm not to the default of yemen. just but we're heading for middle resisted by yemeni when they meet in riyadh in march through it all right if team but that's because it's not working in their favor would be their argument i'm guessing let's talk a little bit about that footage and those pictures that we've seen of those hungry children a horrifying humanitarian situation there in yemen both sides to blame here for this man movie disaster saudi as well as to what the rebels. of course. involved in this war for a country blend but blanford not. just only do so the only bit of post here also using hunger. siege of c.t. is. the host of the skating. food. what do you see on the future of stars so that's why i think the internet her community should woodward it engine tool toward the situation in yemen and of lawyer pressure on the whole if she do a good. thing for me in yemen definitely i went along with all your review of it all thought getting a stupid war would continue in yemen if we leave it. if we leave the host in time it's on a very grim prospect there for yemen instability all around same time and. saudi journalist and author joining us from washington d.c. thank you very much thank you very much. we're going to stay in the u.s. because u.s. president donald trump has laid out his foreign policy strategy in a speech that outlined a shift from past administrations has focused on protecting american interests first mirrors washington's changing role in the world well the plan focuses dealing with threats from iran and north korea and challenging china and russia will both moscow and beijing say they'll welcome u.s. cooperation but warn that confrontation could bring a losses for all sides. in a wide ranging speech donald trump unveiled his new national security strategy once more he used the blunt language to his supporters love and his detractors low. with every decision and every action we are now putting america first with the strategy i am announcing today we are declaring that america is in the game and america is going to win this dropping previous mentions of climate change instead focused on four main pillars. boosting homeland protection including building has wall on the mexican border promoting american prosperity by rebuilding infrastructure demonstrating military strength he said he would and mandatory defense spending limits and advance u.s. influence in the world. trump called china and russia great rivals saying they were determined to challenge american power. this has angered beijing china's foreign ministry said the new strategy was a step backwards. to me we urge the u.s. side to stop intentionally distorting china's strategic intentions and to abandon outdated ideas of cold war mentality and a zero sum game. the kremlin also called trump strategy imperialist and said it cannot accept that it's treated as a threat. despite naming russia and china as the primary threat to u.s. economic dominance trump said he hopes to build a great partnership with them. the carson phenomenon is on standby in washington we can join him right now carson that something launched a blistering attack on previous leaders a us policy in that speech what did you make of it. or that was quite clear that this was officially maybe a speech on national security but the effect oh it was an election campaign speech catering to trump's base he basically defended his record at the end of his first year in office saying that previous governments had failed the american people had we can do military had agreed to disastrous trade deals had let in too many immigrants and the wrong kind of immigrants and no it was his task donald trump's toss to clean up the mess and to protect the american people from this evil world outside that was basically the view that he presented and it's pretty much his view of the world donald trump sees the world as a constant competition and even if you might strike a deal with a competitor or rival on certain issues that rival still remains arrival all right well trump painted speaking of rivals the time painted china and russia as america's biggest rivals he seemed to have changed his mind. well yes and no mean clearly this national security strategy shows that there was some heavy input from some advisors on the national security council at the pentagon or within the intelligence community who are quite critical of russia and china much more so than on a trumpet on a trump has always said he wants to strike a deal with russia and vladimir putin and although he was quite critical of china during his election campaign he has now also grown quite fond of china's leaders she thinks so you wouldn't hear something that normally from donald trump having said that of course he wants to present themselves as the protector of america and if that means going against russia and china as rivals then he will go with that so he casts a phenomenal reporting from washington thank you. but the one thing he'll be very happy about is the economy is turning along very nicely exactly due to that tax reform plan global effect equities have studied after their biggest jump in almost half a year now expectations tied to the massive tax reform bill in the united states are coming on top of one of the strongest and known as global war on record the us congress is set to vote today or tomorrow no way to tax cuts and reforms and the bill we're lucky to be signed into law before christmas. the biggest gift goes to corporations who see their taxes cut permanently from thirty five to twenty one percent lower and middle income earners get smaller tax cuts and they will only be temporary expiring at the end of twenty twenty five that means their taxes will eventually go up again if the cuts on tech standard but although only temporary those cuts help get some skeptical republicans on board most made households will see their taxes go down. but a revised method of calculation which will show a lower inflation rate and choose any wage rises will shift poor of people into higher tax brackets sooner boosting revenues on the backs of the poorest republicans see that more positively this is good news for the american people we're going to get the economy roaring back again and improve and increase jobs and make america more competitive in the global economy but in its final version the legislation doesn't live up to trump's promise to drastically cut the paperwork required for filing tax returns or to pledge of cuts that do not further inflate america's ballooning deficit so the most expensive overhaul of america's tax code comes as a christmas gift to some but also is one that has been bought on credit. for an earlier we spoke to our financial correspondent and advice about reactions here in germany we asked her how germany investors are looking at the planned tax reform. yeah well everybody is kind of waiting if that tax but it's really getting through the house and whether it won't get watered down in the last approach perhaps so because that has happened to kind of many bills proposed by the administration so we don't know what we going to get and that's the big thing here among investors because if it's going to be watered down there won't be a big a fact for the economy for corporate but if it's really going through you might actually see some war upside potential for the equity markets having said that though i think a lot of that is already prized then we have seen the equity markets really rallying if that remains the case that we're headed for one of the best years since two thousand and thirteen. and european companies are closely watching developments in washington as you've just heard a lot of them trade with the u.s. or half subsidiaries or factories there and other countries may follow suit no ring corporate taxes to attract business as well for trade between the european union and the u.s. is booming but will it continue to do so much of donald trump's tax reform package remains unclear for example it includes a twenty percent excise tax on companies purchases from foreign subsidiaries that seem to discouraging american firms from producing abroad but it could also hurt german carmakers with factories in the u.s. that import their components from germany. i need to know there's another threat of how you do you tease on imports. does much of that frightens us because they're unpredictable and don't comply with w t o rules forms and so nobody knows what effects they don't have a glitch mcleish move. there are no concerns trumps reform could trigger a global race to lower corporate taxes the e.u. average is around twenty two percent slightly higher than in the us after his legislation takes effect in many countries right. are much higher including germany where it's around thirty percent that could lead to german investment being diverted to the us. i know. one thing trump is certainly successful that just didn't elating the american economy. and if you push through massive tax cuts in the us not will lead to german companies investing. in this to you. as a result their profits and jobs could shift to the us as well america first trumps favorite slogan might get a boost from a tax reform package. and turkey will cordon turkey has released a turkish german journalist pending trial for terrorism michel to lose cases just as the already strained bilateral relations between berlin and tool was arrested earlier this year and what human rights organizations have called a targeted crackdown on free speech and turkey. michelle a total can finally embrace her family members again she'd been in a women's prison since april when she was arrested in istanbul her three year old son also spent time with her behind bars is a big place i'm very happy but also very exhausted and this is been a huge sacrifice that i still have to. thank you believe in the coming days i'll get a clear idea of what actually happened and be able to say more. but told those new freedom only goes so far turkish authorities have refused to return her passport the charges against her membership in a left wing group turkey considers a terrorist organization remain her trial is still set for spring. for the german government to those release is a good sign but not a final resolution. on this. we are in place where we can say everything's being. definitely not and there are still many existing difficulties but this is a clear signal towards the easing of tensions a step in the right direction or of course very happy for. falling. toto is one of several german journalists or human rights activists arrested in turkey this year the german government considers them political hostages release comes on the heels of another turkish court ruling in a german detainees favor the sociologist is now free to return to germany after nearly two years detention that leaves eight german nationals still behind bars in turkey. all right lots to unpack daryn jones is in istanbul dorian a german human rights activist peter start now was released in october now michel till is turkey finally giving in to the political pressure. well uncle would certainly deny that but certainly around the release of the reports that bolin was using its diplomatic muscle to put pressure on financial markets to curtail their lending for heavy falls in the currency and that led to stringer's release according to many people but since then we also saw the collapse in the trial of turkish moms accused of spying in germany that was seen in one cor as a gesture towards them so possibly a combination of a carrot and a stick but both sides would deny that this was the case well let's talk a bit about the other prominent german journalist who are fortunately still in prison dennis your child is there any movement in his case. he hasn't even been charged let alone going to call but there has been not seen as a small possible gesture he's been taken out of stalin confinement he's been in jail for nearly three hundred days most of it in solitary confinement that was seen as a possible move but beyond that there is little hope of any real movement in the near future but the president does have under emergency rule the power to release him of any time if it's considered in the national interest so there is possible room for some gesture further down the road but this is all linked to what many people see it as a slow process of dialogue between berlin and ancora which was initiated when the german foreign minister left visited turkey last month since then there is this process of dialogue going on and it does appear that both sides are making small gestures small steps taking the process forward but at the end of the day according to berlin there are eight german citizens in a turkish jail being held for political reasons political hostages until that's resolved little hope of any normalization in relations just reporting from istanbul thank you. in a bid to make the world of social media a better place twitter has launched an offensive against hate groups it's unveiled new rules that would ban right wing extremists and trolls from using the a will it really make a difference where we can ask that we can put that question to us. from our social media desk was that so why is twitter doing this right now. well do you remember those anti muslim videos that trumpery tweeted last a month now it looks like twitter just suspended the account off the woman who posted them and her name is jeddah france and she's one of the leaders of the right wing britain first party and neither jade of france a nor the party leader paul golding can tweet anymore and twitter has also suspended britain's first official account now since yesterday dozens of accounts link to racist groups in hate speech began to disappear from the platform and this is actually a big deal especially for marginalized groups like britain first who have just only you managed to scrape along one percent mark in the local elections but they have managed to become huge too to get a huge following on social media and of course they rely and they depend on their following and as this is also one of the reasons that their party leader has posted this petition here and he is demanding that twitter reactivate their account but at the time of this broadcast they had only received around five thousand signatures well many of these hate groups rely heavily on social media sites to get their message out how much of a blow is this. well if you just ban people who talk a lot of course they will go somewhere else to talk about the same things and one of those platforms is called gap this is. kind of like twitter for right wing people you can hear it it says welcome to gap a social network that champions free speech individual liberty and the free flow of information online and it also says all are well come and you can also see this frog here the kompany is logo which is one of the symbols used by the far right now the thing is gap is only about one year old so it's an op start and who knows if it will fail or succeed in the long run but if it does fail there are also other message boards like four chan and breaded where they also have. discussions happening but the real question here is what will happen to the debate so do we really want people who are talking one way on one platform and just push out all the others to another where they will have their same conversation and this is something that we have to think about and also the twitter rules that were just released yesterday and the action was taken just since yesterday so we have to see if twitter is actually taking a step against hate speech or not. thank you. you're watching the w. news a still have a lot more to tell you about here's what's ahead austria's new chancellor some bus and courts reopens old wounds with the issue of dual citizenship for south to roll up correspondents in vienna and rome join me with the details and. look at head to head to the upcoming games in the german cups as high flying salsa host over jewels in a to cologne in the round of sixteen. that and a whole lot more coming up in just a few. life in the arctic is hard to drop in though. there were people who just wanted to leave after one week but if you can stand it eventually you could. there are people who want to live here and nowhere else why. i moved here to experience beauty and excitement. the news of the last trip ends up in forty five minutes on d w. d w true diversity. where the world of science is at home in many languages. an issue for thought of programming go and believe me show you. now with our innovations magazine for in just a few hours from every week and always looking to the future on d w dot com science and. research for a. day lived to surf. danger lurks in the water we were the only alone surfing into waste and polluted water. basically this is the only one with a backup but with only a little i was initially. because we pieced it somewhere every day and see more and more probably she much time and to see me gives me everything the waves the wind i have to give something back in the lines to a minister who seem to really get to the other's. point waves surfers fighting against unseen sea starting january seventh. good to have you back with us you're watching the other news on the rock in berlin these are main stories right now. berlin has marked one year since an attack on a christmas market in the city by opening a new memorial to the victims twelve people died and dozens were wounded when a failed asylum seeker drove in truck into the crowd it christmas market at pacha clubs. and that is our top story and we can go to melinda crane now who joins us from our parliamentary studio and melinda chancellor angela merkel's government got a lot of flak for how it handled the aftermath of this attack she addressed some of the outstanding issues during today's memorial ceremony let's roll the tape and start a conversation and finish of the saga for the guns which for me and for the entire government that means working to improve on the things that didn't go well with some of. we must all do all that is humanly possible to provide security and safety. but also to give people whose lives were destroyed or affected the possibility to review man lives. in us leaving united to come. but today is a day of grieving but it's also a day where we will all cells to do better with the things that didn't work well it's not so much. less a good knowledge as that things could have been done better how significant is it. it's very significant and it's significant on a couple of different levels you saw a very very somber chancellor there and that's because part of this is about her own personal mistake namely the fact that she did not meet with or directly interact with the relatives of the victims until yesterday for the first time the task was left to other officials germany's president but also in a way to bureaucrats who for example sent letters to some of the victims with bills for the autopsies who neglected to let some of the victims' families know for a number of days after the attack whether their relatives were living or dead and the victims clearly felt that they had to been neglected or as germany's president put it abandoned to some degree by the german government now how could that transpire i think there are a couple of explanations the first one is the government was very concentrated on the public and political side of all of this in the initial days after the attack their main message was germany won't be cowed by terrorism and we will not allow such an attack to happen again in other words an acknowledgement of of mistakes on a different level namely the level of prevention what they didn't focus on was that personal side that's one part of it the other part of it is the chancellor is not really a person who is at ease with the emotional side of things and you could see that there i think in that sound bite from her so all of this is what they are now trying to remedy but it's tough and there has been very open criticism from the victim's relatives all right and the police has also come under fire. absolutely this and that's the second set of mistakes that were made and omissions basically this is an attack that could and should have been preventable the perpetrator was known to officials in several different german states he was known to federal officials he had been refused asylum and was actually eligible for deportation both in italy and in germany and all those different authorities were not communicating with each other to the degree that they needed to be the place where this happened was not adequately protected my colleague. has done an excellent overview of all these different omissions and let's take a look at that. the worst ever islamist attack carried out in germany was the work of a terrorist who had outsmarted the authorities. asylum seeker and his armory used fourteen different identities while living in germany. the police had categorized amery as dangerous and capable of an attack but they had lost sight of him. after the atrocity put it decided to act. as a. government has made a number of legal changes for example but it got to the control and surveillance of immigrants classified as potentially dangerous the streamlined deportation of these people should stop anything like the amry case from ever happening again at least in germany even if you know. it's no easier to deport potentially foreign terrorists and this is happening. if as in the case of on is they have no documents they can be imprisoned. fingerprints of asylum applicants and now stored in a central data bank along with biometric photos and if their status is dubious data can be extracted from their cell phones. one year after the attack germany's interior minister believes that the authorities can no longer be tricked into accepting false identities. if someone you know in the armory case enters the system using multiple aliases that will actually help us to identify that person as someone who's seeking to deceive us. germany has also extended its use of phidias surveillance there are plans to install cameras and facial recognition systems at central locations further measures include electronic ankle bracelets to money top the location and movements of potential terrorists that's also why not put it in my opinion these were all symbolic measures that were taken to suggest to the public that something was being done to increase their security really that if you analyze the mammary case you'll see that the legal framework allowing him to be arrested was actually already implies. that someone for it's wise and half so named in berlin the most clearly visible action taken this year was the installation of concrete barriers at the scene of the crime. on the mark reporting there and our very own melinda kramer giving us the perspective there thank you so very much to you both well and want to head on now to austria where the new chancellor of course has promised to work closely with the italian government to make dual citizen says citizenship excuse me possible for the people of south to roll courts at the people's party put dual citizenship first south to roll on the government agenda because all parties in the region including the government of south to all had requested it the region once belonged to austria and many south. still identify themselves as austrians plan to grant those people in south to roll austrian citizenship has drawn a widespread criticism from italian politicians. and you know government program we complied with the request which had been voiced by all parties in the south to the role but especially by the government of south to roll because that's something that we of course will only undertake in close coordination with italy and the government in rome and. of course the foreign minister and myself are going to closely interaction orally with a role but also with rome once these plans are ready for implementation to do so not for i mean. there's no chance so there speaking class pumpers is covering the story for us in vienna and philip zhan joins us now from the italian capital or rome good evening gentlemen i want to start off with you klaus i mean it's kind of a little bit mind boggling that the austrian government thought this was top of the list that they want to tackle such a controversial and historically delicate subject. of course it's not on top of the list really incorporates there's a page so it's really and it's due to the fact that the writing of it is read in the it's not member of this coalition planes adama citizenship was us europeans already in two thousand and nine so. it is now in this treaty and i think a medical students see clearly what will is due to the italian government think the problems based already today you're trying to downplay and see how it really goes on in the future because of their period that it is right well let's find out how it went down philip at how is it only reacted to all this. well this proposal from austria opens quite a delicate case in italy the italian government stresses that there is almost no other ethnic minority in europe which has so many. rights and possibilities of self-determination and the german speaking minority not in italy and on the other hand they also stress that or only twenty five years ago years ago italy and austria signed the last treaty to stop karelian about the state of of south to your own and so the case for rome is over and they just hope that from vienna. the way of how they how they proposed this will be much more diplomatic in the future our clear their case is not over fella because they're bringing it up again so could this lead to our worsening and bilateral relations between austria and italy . well that depends also how the german speaking ethnic minority in the north and italy and south euro will react on that proposal we heard from the governor of south your old compact of that to he's very careful in his sis speech he said that he hopes in good relationships across the borders still he talks about borders between south through and austria and that means that at least the official part of south euro they don't put into question this state to us for sure there are some political parts of south euro who would like to get stronger stronger into austria. in south to rule they hope this will remain only a minority now right klaus i've got twenty seconds left this coalition i came into power saying listen we are very pro european why are you doing that's why open old wounds if you if you are pro european to hear your moves on the one side and on the other side to have those secessionist little ones in southern euro area who insist on this citizenship i think they will not be successful in the end but they have to prove whether they are really pro the european the new government in austria. writes a class pumpers reporting from vienna and philips on capital from thank you. am going to hand you over to sunny it because the record is doing really well exactly thank you so much leila a crypto currency exchange in south korea is bankrupt and closing it was hacked again after losing thousands of bitcoins earlier this year this highlights security concerns about virtual currencies which are boring right now the established banking industry is skeptical federal reserve chair janet yellen recently sad bitcoin is not a stable source of value and does not constitute legal tender she also called it highly speculative and the japanese finance minister charles aso acknowledged that bitcoin has not yet been proven to be credible enough to become a currency and that's despite his government recognizing bitcoin earlier this year but i am after that christina guard has a different take on bitcoin as you can read saying it could well give existing currencies and monetary policy a run for your money that is so much more to talk about that comes to bitcoin speculation and risks and in the studio here with me is aaron tilton from the business desk you have followed all the developments basically the direction of bitcoin because is going up and up what risks do you see even for example compare bitcoin investing into bitcoin compared with commodities like gold well bitcoin actually faces many of the same challenges the traditional currencies face i mean it can be stolen it can be lost and it can also be subject to extreme fluctuations in value i mean that's what we've seen with bitcoin it's about twenty four old in the course of a year but there's been also days where it was in the price fall by the fifty hundred dollars was extreme point this year so it is a rather volatile just like genuine said however there's another source of concern the traditional currencies don't necessarily face traditional currencies are regulated there's a central bank there's a banking authority which helps set their value and controlled. laws apply demand to make sure that it's a fairly stable source of value and transmitting value but claim doesn't have that is based on peer to peer technology it's completely digital and so it's going to completely unregulated field up to this point and we've seen some attempts by governments like in china to regulate it but so far there haven't been any real concrete steps to regulate the industry since may be connected all these warnings that you're seeing coming from france from singapore from germany may just become active maybe to defunct that central banks are fearing to use their significance well there may be some of that because as i said it is an unregulated industry it's completely peer to peer meaning the only people who are overseeing the transactions are the people involved in bitcoin themselves in the people who actually support the network with the coin money so yes i mean there could be a little point of that but there are legitimate concerns i mean in the past we've seen. efforts by people involved more shady areas of the industry talking about human trafficking drug smuggling weapons smuggling who only accept transactions and bitcoin because it's much more easy to make yourself anonymous hard to track and then there's also the fact that we've seen such rapid fluctuations this year people are putting in massive amounts of their savings and if this thing goes bust which a lot of people are kind of saying this might be a bubble then they're going to lose their entire savings and of course that's an area of concern for many people in the regulatory and financial industries and a lot of people are actually jumping on that bitcoin trained right now because of rather do you see a crash happening well i'm not going to try to tell the future i mean i would say any time you see a value curve shooting straight up like this you can't really talk about investing you can talk only about speculation and i'm not going to say is going to go bust anytime soon but we have seen things like this happen the past i mean just think about tulips in holland i mean that is there's a point in time where a single bubble of tulips cost more than a house more than a life savings and now you know they're worth a few pennies until it's in from our business that's thank you very much. the german cup round of sixteen gets underway this evening with a standout match bringing together two teams with contrasting fortunes saga has been flying high this season and are unbeaten in twelve games kalani while have endured a dismal campaign at the bottom of the bundesliga bads aided by their first league win this season a little league at. christmas came early for shock of this year they have lost since september and will spend the winter in second place putting them in a festive mood. on saturday they showed their fighting spirit against frankfurt coming back from to kneel down to seal a draw i but coach dominico to disco is wary of a rejuvenated cologne side. does from phones you only because up to that he i don't see them as lacking confidence but as a team with nothing to lose month playing against teams with nothing to lose it's quite uncomfortable swimming in him it took them seventeen games but cologne finally won in the bundesliga on saturday but they've shown better form in cup competitions with strong performances in both the europa league and german cup. with several key players back fit new coach stefan hooten back thinks his side have a chance against chelsea i was able to munch of a top there a great chain among the top five in the bundesliga and thoughts about every game has to be played and we can beat anyone has done ok we know shall career strong team but we've got our chances for sure mike every game we've played by the form book often goes out the window in knockout competitions i'm cologne players will be hoping they'll be repeating scenes like this on tuesday. world one hundred meter champion justin gatlin says he is shocked after an undercover sting from britain's daily telegraph newspaper brought up doping allegations against his coach and agent the american sprinter has already been banned for doping twice with ortiz have launched an investigation. get leins past bans came in two thousand and one in two thousand and six the american sprinters recent agent robert wagner was recorded on camera offering testosterone and human growth hormone for a fictional client the undercover reporters were representing lawyers for the sprinters say he's clean galleons coach dennis mitchell talked about how athletes have access to designer drugs to avoid detection get lin took to instagram to proclaim his innocence about performance enhancing drugs stating i am not using and have not used p.e.d.'s i was shocked and surprised to learn that my coach would have anything to do with even the appearance of these current accusations i fired him as soon as i found out about this all legal options are on the table and i will not allow others to lie about me like this according to the telegraph report get lynn also fired wagner who now says he was just plain along with reporters. do things that they cannot be undone for any amount of money we have to pay this simply isn't possible my financial position has changed really in thirty seconds ago he said it was a good day i have never been more vulnerable financially than i am right now as you can with all due respect nobody has ever been richer than you are at this moment. i have no money to spare that was a scene from all the money in the world the new film by british director ridley scott it's based on the true story of the kidnapping of sixteen year old john paul getty the third and the fusil of his billionaire grandfather to pay the ransom and tell him stop is here from a culture test a talk about this new movie coming in for the holidays that was a lot of buzz there still is a lot of us. about this movie why. you know this this movie just saw an unprecedented move with the cast of ridley scott replaced kevin spacey two time oscar winner kevin spacey after the multiple allegations of sexual assault that were made against him and this happened sort of eight weeks out from the intended release of the film which was actually december twenty second it's been pushed off to december twenty fifth in the states so the role of j. paul getty was recast by canadian it with canadian actor christopher plummer who was very very much in the spotlight of course at the premiere last night in los angeles of christopher plummer here at eighty eight years of age he accepted the role immediately and you can see him here with ridley scott on the red carpet along with the actually the actors of the film michelle williams and mark wahlberg we will see in a minute. literally reshot all of the scenes with spaces character that cost him an extra ten million dollars that's actually a quarter of the budget but he and the production company felt that this was necessary to salvage the film as they said you know that they felt that with with the situation with spacey at the moment that his name would would possibly cloud oscar hopes hopes and possibly also performance at the box office so an incredible feat to have done this in such a short time let's have a quick look. michelle williams plays the mother of kidnapped. as an agent hired by the family to oversee the investigation. must be very frightened right now i know i'm frightened for him. because out to the table. i don't care why you did this but i asked as a mother that you think of your own children you have the child you once said my boy thanks to the agents job is hampered by the billionaire grandfather the kidnapped boy refusing to pay the rent on. my former father a nominee by. is the best. time you to whatever dissipates it. is because again since. the friends of the city getting. the money to spare no one has ever been richer than you are at this moment what would it take you to feel secure. more. get you the man getting the land was the engine of this and they could not use and it matched the character mysterious character who i saw it's themselves through well it was real written and so our trust of the writer you know writer to go with the writer and follow the writing and listen to it all in the space of a very short time because we were constantly reviewing. their offices. to pay people. i never saw. the movie has already picked up three golden globe nominations including best supporting actor christopher and best actress for michelle williams as the distressed mother. my child the prison. down it. is. all the money in the world a movie with an amazing on and off screen pull. the movie looks amazing i really have great but i want to talk about that plot off screen the subplot because that's also quite interesting leslie scott is making quite a statement absolutely you know i mean obviously this is happening in the wake of the harvey weinstein scandal i don't think we've seen the last of that obviously and ridley and his colleagues decided they had an opportunity to make this film into something into something of a symbolic turning point in the in the industry to to to actually take action and make change that this wasn't about one individual it was about the eight hundred plus people who had been working very very hard and didn't deserve deserve to have this project. of course you have to have a name like ridley scott to even be able to do something like this i mean he himself just turned eighty in the midst of all of this needs to be said he's also very much a you know one of the feminist of the of the older generation of directors known for casting very strong female roles so he has a lot of sensitivity for some of these issues and i think it's really admirable that he had the strength to say that this kind of behavior isn't going to tolerate it to heart well let's talk about the other man kevin spacey have we heard from him at all yeah that's a very very little actually apart from the initial apology to his first accuser he has basically sort of said that he's taking some time to evaluate and six in treatment whatever that means he was also fired from the final season of netflix so his career is on various yes exactly for house of cards is looking pretty difficult the interesting thing is that really scott actually wanted christopher plummer for this role anyway. and he actually claims that performances is the better stronger one we can take a look here this is the trailer with kevin spacey still. there is is caked in prosthetic makeup to make him look like an octogenarian as you can see here in the original film campaign of course the physical transformation transformation was supposed to be a really big thing. so any hopes for the off the makeup or the makeup oscar are obviously dashed here about. to christopher plummer you know for getting all of that done in nine days getting those nominations not bad for arizona. yeah because i would examine. going strong enough to go see it there was so much talent greatly appreciate it thank you for spending this part of your day with us the news continues right
