ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man died after deputies say he shot himself on accident while driving Wednesday night in Southwest Albuquerque.
Jayme Fuller, a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, did not identify the man and said the Office of the Medical Investigator still has to confirm the cause of death.
She said around 8:30 p.m. the man and a woman were headed south on Coors, near Dennis Chavez, when the man shot himself in the thigh.
Fuller said by the time deputies arrived the man was unconscious but “had a faint pulse.” He later died from his injuries.
“At this time it is believed to be an accidental shooting, OMI still needs to conduct its investigation to make the final determination,” She said.
