A police spokesman said a blue Mazda sedan failed to give way and allegedly hitting a ute at the intersection of Hamilton St and Gaylard St about 6.55pm Wednesday. Police said the car allegedly evaded officers moments before the collision. The spokesman said the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene before police arrived. He said the blue Mazda had false number plates and police were investigating whether the car had been stolen. Shortly after a Kia Rio crashed into a power pole within metres of the first crash near the intersection of Hamilton St and Graves St about 7.15pm.
