Ashley Huprich, DVP development associate, said that while the amount of hotline calls has remained fairly consistent since the pandemic hit, the agency has fielded a lot of first-time callers. "Also, the intensity of the abuse has been more severe," she said. "Some of our clients, we were already working with when COVID hit, and they weren't able to reach out." Huprich said DVP hopes to raise $480,000 this year. The money will be used for operational expenses and programming, including its 24-hour hotline, two emergency shelters, transitional housing, medical and legal advocacy, as well as outreach and aftercare for people who are no longer in a shelter.
