District's farmers appeal for return of Newark cattlemarket, which closed in March 2020

Farmers say they are being overlooked and forgotten, ten months after their livestock market shut resulting in them having to travel further and adding to already long days.
The town’s cattlemarket closed in March last year and attempts faltered to re-open it under new operators on a temporary lease while its long-term future was decided.
A proposal to relocate the cattlemarket to Newark Showground is part of the Newark Towns Bid. However, while many other towns have had the levels of their funding announced by government, Newark is yet to be told of its allocation.
