Disney's Jungle Cruise Movie Gets a Release Date May 13, 2021, 12:22 PM · Disney's long-awaited Jungle Cruise movie will hit theaters on July 30, with a same-day release on Disney+ Premier Access. The movie, inspired by the popular Disney theme park attraction, stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, and is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. Johnson announced the news on his Instagram this morning. Disney is currently revamping its Jungle Cruise attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, though that's being done to remove racist caricatures rather than to introduce characters from the upcoming film. It's not yet known if the new movie will lean into the Society of Explorers and Adventurers metaverse that Disney is amplifying on its updated Jungle Cruise rides. The IMDB page for the movie lists no character named Alberta Falls, for example, though there remain several major characters without names.
