23-year-old Diasia Hogan's life seemed to be just getting started.
She gave birth on April 15 to a baby girl named Colette — the newest sibling to her other children, 3-year-old Jimari and 1-year-old Pleasant. She bought a car, excitedly texting pictures of the Ford Escape to her sister Danyelle Hogan on April 26. She was recently hired for a new job, according to her cousin Auntaesha Calvert, and she was getting ready to move into a new apartment soon, Danyelle told IndyStar.
But on Sunday, May 2, her morning car ride turned fatal.
Police responded to a crash involving two vehicles on North Franklin and Roy roads about 10 a.m. Officers found Diasia dead. The baby was taken to a hospital, but she died the next day. "This little girl fought for her life," Danyelle posted on Facebook. "Life just isn’t fair."
