that's a remarkable thing. the president and minority leader have a one-on-one, and they work out a deal. and for the chief of staff to be the one who calls back, it really does make it look like he is the one with the veto power. and the president works for him. >> well, yeah, it looks like that. but i think probably what happened in that instance was that the president never really was firmly at the table with chuck schumer. to get a feel for where things were, trying to get his head around this, much more than it had been up to that point. and just couldn't go there. and of course, didn't call schumer back, had the chief of staff do it. which, again, goes to the point of which president is going to be the leader on this issue. is it the tuesday president whose says, you know, give me the love bill. i'll sign whatever it is? because to take care of these 800,000 kids, or the thursday president that says in addition to building the wall, we want no
