the parole system. understanding that there will always been tragic mistakes. because even if they follow all the rules and are extremely conscientious, members of parole boards have huge responsibilities. they're essentially being asked to predict future behavior, which is a very difficult thing to do, and probably impossible to do it infallibly, but, you know, we can improve the system. we can certainly improve the systems of supervisions. though that probably would require putting more money into the system because i suspect that parole officers are very overworked and have very heavy caseloads. but if we can improve supervision, we can mack it easier for people in prison and make it safer for the rest of us. as i say, we're not sending these people into outer space. we're not keeping them in prisons forever. we have got to find a way to be
