unpleasant. and that's not exactly the kind of signal that you want to send if you are the leader of the free world. you have the british prime minister. you have leaders all over europe. you have the canadian prime minister. you even have the prime minister of india tweeting in hebrew his congratulations to benjamin netanyahu, described him as my dear friend. that's the contrast here between leaders across the world and the president of the united states. >> angela merkel, the chancellor of germany, we were told, made a phone call to the german industry. we were told that she is told to wait until the government is formed. she hasn't picked up the phone yet. >> the germans, i think, tend to move a bit more slowly on these things. a number of leaders, of course, in europe have already contacted the israeli leader to offer their congratulations. and i think it's rather embarrassing when the leader of the free world cannot even bring himself to pick up the telephone a very simple things and speak to the leader of america's closest friend and ally in the middle east.
