in the u.k., people in the u.s., came out of that country and that region. that's why we went in there. that's why we're there today. it is not some selfish long-term strategic interest. we simply want afghanistan to look after its own security with its own security force so we are safe at home. that's the key. that is the message we need to keep explaining to people. but i think what we're trying to do by end. 2014 is achievable and doable. >> i concur with everything david said, the only thing i would add, you ask why poll numbers indicate people are interested in ending the war in afghanistan? it is because we've been there for 10 years and people get weary and they know friends and neighbors who have lost loved ones as a consequence of war. no one wants war. anybody who answers a poll question about war saying
