lawmaker pay during a year of an election. and it says if the senate does not take serious action to avert a shut down and pass legislation cutting spending of its own, the house that would cut $61 billion out of the budget this year would become law. under the rules it would be quote an incorporation by reference. it wouldn't require the president's signature, wouldn't require the senate to act on it. it allows the hr bill, a lengthy piece of legislation to be talked about today. it is largely symbolic and meant to give republicans an opportunity to say the senate hasn't acted and it's because democrats over there where they control the majority are dragging their feet, and even though the republicans control the house it is only one part of a three-part puzzle. the president hasn't come to the table with any kind of a serious offer. gregg: thank you very much. martha: earlier on our show a gop freshman congresswoman
