City staff has been given the go ahead to proceed with the next step in developing a new aquatic facility for Pembroke to replace the aging Kinsmen Pool.
On Jan. 19 Pembroke’s combined committee of council cleared the Operations Department to use the design-build method for development and construction of the facility and to proceed by hiring a firm to provide project management services.

While impossible to hang an exact price tag for project management services on a project of this scale at this time, according to Brian Lewis, Operations Department manager, the city can expect to pay between four and eight per cent of the total project cost. The new aquatic facility is being estimated to cost somewhere between $6 million and $11 million.
