Cherilyn Matthews started doing drag on a dare.
After encouragement by friends to try out for an amateur drag competition 19 years ago, Matthews was shocked when she won.
And after winning other competitions, she decided to put her talents to use and raise money for worthy causes. Whether it's LGBTQ youth in need or the Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida, she's ready to help.
It's one of the reasons she attended Saturday's fifth annual Love is Love Pride Fest in DeLand. Decked out in rainbows and sequins, Artisan Alley was host to vendors and drag shows through the afternoon and evening.
