Dead humpback whale found washed ashore on Strathmere beach

A 20-ton, 30-foot humpback whale washed ashore on a Strathmere beach Saturday morning. Staff from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center were on location at the South Jersey beach to take measurements and perform a necropsy in attempts to determine the whale's cause of death. The mammal was found on "Whale Beach," where township officials plan to bury it.
